1966 El camino 283 auto power steering with cold hang on a/c uses 134R. I drive this car everyday its very dependable does real good on gas and hasnt failed yet. Ive known this car for 10 years and the way you see it is how its looked the whole time ive known the car. It has been repainted at sometime and id say they added the 327 emblems the engine has the code T0820de which shows 283 looks original to me it still has bolt retainers on the exhaust bolts. Ill tell you what I know and make sure you look at the pics very good.

Things that dont work

Radio

Front Running lites

One back up lite

odometor

Wipers work but you have to push the washer button probably the switch

domelite works from the right door

I believe everything else works fine as stated the odometor does not work the speedometor does work the car shows 69439 The title shows 76300 I think the previous owner was trying to guess but its almost 50 years so who knows. You will find some bubbles ive tried to show them the driver side floor has some rust and the passenger rear floor is just starting to rust also shown in pics. Car has dual exhaust runs great will use alittle oil but again its almost 50 years old. The front of the hood is rusted I would get a new hood doors and tailgate are great inside of the bed has very little wear for the age. It even has 3 out of 4 T3 headlites still in it. Boxed frame very solid front brakes are touchy im going to try and readjust them but they are drum brakes and they have a different feel. This is a good driving car I would drive this car home. How many 66 El caminos do you see show up at the shows? Not many dont buy a rust bucket here is a very original car to start with. Selling as/is no reserve!! I do have it for sale local I just applied for a new KY title in a dealers name it should be in by the time the auction is over. If you have 0 feedback you need to contact me first or ill cancel your bid. I expect a 250.00 deposit within 24 hours of auctions end. Full payment within 7 days of auctions end. Will work with your shipper will also work on pick up time as long as the car is paid for first.

GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.

Safety group pans GM’s new Marketplace in-dash shopping

Wed, Dec 6 2017

When it comes to our cars, is the Internet of Things a godsend? Or a hidden menace that will create more problems than it will solve? On the same day General Motors announced it will equip newer-model cars with its in-dash Marketplace e-commerce app, a prominent safety group was shooting it down. National Safety Council President Deborah Hersman tells Bloomberg the technology will only contribute to distracted driving and hurt efforts to stem the tide of rising auto fatalities, which grew 5.6 percent to more than 37,000 in the U.S. in 2016. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says distracted driving was responsible for 3,477 fatalities and 391,000 injuries in 2015, the most recent year for which it has data. "There's nothing about this that's safe," Hersman told Bloomberg. "If this is why they want WiFi in the car, we're going to see fatality numbers go up even higher than they are now." Marketplace, developed with IBM, will allow drivers — or more often, one hopes, their passengers — to order coffee or food, find gas stations and reserve hotel rooms from their dashboard screens. The technology is set to be uploaded automatically to nearly 1.9 million GM vehicles model-year 2017 and later that are equipped with WiFi hotspots and compatible systems. By the end of 2018, about 4 million Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles will be equipped with Marketplace. The app will debut with a limited number of participating retailers, including TGI Fridays, Shell, Exxon Mobil and Starbucks, with more likely to join later. Online retail giant Amazon is also partnering with automakers such as Ford to bring e-commerce capabilities inside the car through its Alexa personal assistant. While convenience is nice, one other thing is becoming clear as the IoT wedges its way into our cars: It's taking aim at some decidedly first-world problems.Related Video: Image Credit: GM Buick Cadillac Chevrolet GM GMC Technology Infotainment in-car entertainment marketplace e-commerce

GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.
