Picked up this all original numbers matching 1966 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe up in Mariposa Ca. a few weeks ago. From what I can tell it was parked back in 1979 from the sticker on the plate & it still wearing some old school bias ply tires that still hold air. I have just about every registration card from 1966-1979 along with the original window sticker, factory build sheet, sales invoice, & protecto plate among other things. It has no interior. All the glass is good except the windshield is cracked. The grill looks like it will clean up really nice. Has mostly all the trim although some of it needs straightening & all of it will need polishing. The body is pretty straight except for a crease right behind the drivers door. It has all 4 original hubcaps, spare tire & jack & OG black plates. It came with a 283ci 195hp & a powerglide transmission & has a 10 bolt rear end. Has factory a/c & power steering & still sports the air injection pump & all emissions equipment. We changed the carb & belts hooked up a fuel can to the fuel pump & it fired right up. No lifter noise, smoke or anything. There is rust all around the back window from the vinyl top I'm sure, under the windshield & a small spot on the bottom of the passenger front fender. The trunk pan also needs replacing. There is a hole in the rear drivers floor under the back seat & some really small ones in the drivers front floorboard. Other than that it's all surface rust. This Chevelle was sold new here in Fresno, Ca. at Hallowell Chevrolet on 2-24-1966 & was built at the Fremont Ca. Plant. The color is Madeira Maroon with a black vinyl top & black interior. I do have a pair of bucket seats that can go with it but no back seat. just about everything this car needs is available through OPG. It's a running project for someone that's looking for a Chevelle with all the original paperwork but it has not been on the road in over 30 years so it is being sold as-is & will need to be transported. I have a clean California title & it's on Non-Op so there are no fees due. If you would like anymore information or specific pictures send me an e-mail & i'll get back to you. I have lots more pictures of the floors & under carriage if you would like to see them send me your e-mail & I'll send them to you.Thank You.

GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels
Thu, 24 Jan 2013The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
