1964 Chevelle Malibu 2 door no-post
First year of the Chevelle! 1963 December build date - This car is old school: manual locks, roll up windows, manual transmission Paint is a good 20-footer, but it needs to be redone. Interior has new door panels, new headliner, new carpet, new (stock looking) front seats, new wiring harness, full aftermarket gauge set (oil/temp/volts) and column mounted tach. The rear seat is kind of custom. I bought the car in New Mexico, and it looks like somebody was planning on really doing up the interior - it's tuck and roll velour. Looks cool - very vintage, and is in very good shape Rims are after-market classic aluminum wheels with NEW Goodyear tires, but I also have the stock steelies with two (2) 1964 dog dish (poverty) caps. (the steelies have new tires too). Buyer gets both sets of rims/tires and the poverty caps. I included pics of both so you can see how the wheel/tire combo affects the look of the car Factory 4-speed transmission with Hurst shifter. 3.73 Posi rear end with new seals and bearings New drive shaft. New 10 1/2 clutch and pressure plate. (receipts for everything!) Engine is a BRAND NEW 350 crate engine from Jegs (have all receipts) Specifications: 4-bolt main with 2-piece rear main seal Cast iron crankshaft LT1/LT4 powdered metal connecting rods Hydraulic flat tappet cam (.383''/.401'' Lift, 194 / 202 Duration @ .050'', and 112° lobe separation) Cast iron cylinder heads with 76cc chambers Block has right side oil dipstick 4-quart oil pan Engine is topped with an Edelbrock Performer intake (painted Chevy orange), and 600 cfm Edelbrock carb (1405). NEW HEI distributor with mild advance, and brass terminals on cap NEW Jegs performance plug wires NEW spark plugs New exhaust: Headers, Dual 2.5" pipe, Dynomax Welded Ultraflo Mufflers, sounds AWESOME! As you can see from the specs, this is a VERY mild motor (260-290hp). It is the PERFECT base if you decide to build this car into a beast (remember - the engine is NEW from GM - not rebuilt, it's a 4-bolt main, has LT1 rods etc.). Slap on some heads and a cam, and this sucker will scream. In fact, I'll throw in a set of 1975 Corvette heads with chrome valve covers with the car. Engine has been broken in per GM's specs, and has less than 20 miles on it right now. Still needs to be broken in (about 200 miles) before really beating it up. I travel every other week for work, (and did a number on my back making it tough to drive a stick), so I haven't had the time to run it too much yet. Chassis: mostly stock with NEW springs front and rear, NEW tie rod ends -- inner and outer and drag link, NEW upper and lower Ball Joints, NEW front shocks, air shocks in the rear. The only non-stock modifications to the chassis are: * Front Sway Bar - used a 1.25" bar from a 1981 Trans Am with polyurethane mounts. The stock one was wimpy, but is included with the car *Steering Box from a '97 Grand Cherokee. Same turning radius as stock, 2.5 turns lock to lock, MUCH better road feel. *Power Steering Pump from a 1980 Chevy pickup. Needed more pressure and O-ring hard lines for the new Jeep steering box! ** All suspension modifications look stock - you'd never know until you drive it** 4-wheel power drum brakes (front and rear are finned!). I will also include a Scarebird front disc brake conversion kit with the car. I have receipts for everything I've done, and for the work the previous owner did (rebuilt tranny, etc). Also have a trunk-load of extra/spare parts, and assorted books/manuals. Just renewed registration last week (good until July 2015!). Car is real nice and straight - it just needs some finishing touches to really stand out. Because of the age, car is sold "As-Is". Looking to get $18k or best reasonable offer - Car is located in Santee CA. * NOTE: more photos can be seen on my ad over at racingjunk. com |

eBay Find of the Day: 1990 Chevy 1500 454 SS with just 7 miles
Sun, Jan 4 2015When trawling the classifieds either on a buying mission or merely a time-wasting mission, we spend a lot of time poring over photographs comparing the seller's idea of "Like New!" with our idea of it. It's hard to argue with seven original miles on the odometer, though, which is what this 1990 Chevrolet 1500 454 SS has. It's being sold by Country Chevrolet on eBay, the same dealer who sold the truck to its one and only owner 25 years ago. The purchaser bought two of them and left this one in a garage under a car cover, said garage being less than seven miles away from the showroom floor. Better yet, you can buy with confidence because the seller "has collected all records," which we expect would be the slimmest manilla folder in the history of receipt-keeping. For those unfamiliar, the 454 SS was a half-ton, regular cab, 2WD pickup powered by a 454 cubic inch (7.4-liter) V8 with 230 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque shifting through a three-speed transmission. This was at the same time the Chevrolet Corvette used a 5.7-liter V8 producing 250 hp and 350 lb-ft. The pickup rode on exclusive wheels and only came in black with red cloth inside. The only extra-cost option on this example is an $18 locking fuel filler cap, which, according to the 454ss forum, means it should have cost about $18,460 out the door, the equivalent of about $34,000 today. At the time of writing there are zero bids, but proceedings open at $45,000 and Country Chevrolet wants $49,000 if you have to have your time capsule right now.
First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06s en route to owners [w/video]
Tue, Dec 2 2014Pretty much right on schedule, Chevrolet has begun shipping the very first customer examples of its 650-horsepower, supercharged Corvette Z06. In fact, according to General Motors, the earliest Z06s could be in customer hands by the end of this week. "It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy's most capable model," said Jeff Lamarche, manager of Chevy's Bowling Green Assembly plant. "It truly is an amazing car, and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers." Prices for the Z06 start at $78,995 for the hardtop model, while the first-ever Z06 Convertible kicks off at $83,995. Take a look below for the official press release from Chevrolet, and while you're down there, we've slipped in a new video of Corvette Racing's Tommy Milner taking a hot lap of Road Atlanta in a Z06, complete with some Performance Data Recorder footage. First 2015 Corvette Z06s on Their Way to Customers Most capable model in Chevrolet's history now shipping from Bowling Green BOWLING GREEN, Ky. Chevrolet is now shipping the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 coupe from Bowling Green Assembly and some early customers could receive the much-anticipated supercar later this week. "It has been an incredible opportunity to work on Chevy's most capable model," said Jeff Lamarche, plant manager of General Motors' Bowling Green Assembly plant, "It truly is an amazing car, and we're thrilled to get them into the hands of our eager customers." The new Corvette Z06 offers the most choice for customers in the model's history. It is the first Z06 to offer an available eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission and, thanks to a stronger aluminum frame, a removable roof panel. In addition, it is the first time since 1963 that the Z06 is available as a convertible Β which will arrive in early 2015. The new LT4 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine is SAE-certified at 650 horsepower (485 kW) at 6,400 rpm and 650 lb-ft of torque (881 Nm) at 3,600 rpm Β making the 2015 Corvette Z06 the most powerful production car ever from General Motors and one of the most powerful production cars available in the United States. To balance performance and efficiency, the LT4 leverages a trio of advanced technologies Β direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing Βwith a new, more efficient supercharger. The LT4 helps make the Corvette Z06 the most capable car in the brand's history.
General Motors CEO Provides Few Details In Appearance Before Congress
Wed, Apr 2 2014It was only two months ago that Mary Barra, freshly crowned as the new General Motors chief executive officer, visited Washington DC as an esteemed guest of First Lady Michelle Obama for the State of the Union address. On Tuesday, Barra returned to the Capitol under more strained circumstances. For more than two contentious hours, she took questions from members of a House of Representatives subcommittee investigating General Motors years-long delay in initiating a recall of millions of vehicles that contained a defect that has killed at least 13 people. Why did GM accept faulty ignition switches that were below the company's set specfications? Why did GM learn about the problem in 2001 yet take no action until 2014? Will GM compensate victims' families even though the company's bankruptcy may limit its liability? Those were a few of the questions members of the House Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee asked. Few concrete answers were forthcoming. For her part, Barra sidestepped most of the questions, saying she wouldn't have information needed to answer them until an internal review is completed. David Friedman, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, testified after Barra. The biggest news that emerged from the hearing was that General Motors has retained attorney Kenneth Feinberg to advise the company on its civil and legal responsibilities. He has made a career of resolving disputes and serving in a 'fixer' role, serving as the chief of the federal government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, as an administrator of compensation fund for victims of the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster and a similar fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Barra, who has been GM's CEO since January but been with the company since 1980, expects to meet with Feinberg on Friday, and have a concrete plan within the next 30-60 days. Yet Barra would not say for certain Tuesday that GM would compensate the victims at all. Despite repeated questions from Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Barra did not outline the company's intentions. "I assume GM is hiring (Feinberg) to help identify the size of claims and then compensate the victims? Is that right," DeGette asked. "Is GM willing to put together some kind of a compensation fund for these victims that Mr. Feinberg will then administer?" "We've hired him to help assess the situation," Barra replied. "So really, there's no money involved at this point," DeGette asked.
