1999 Chevrolet Cavalier

Up for your consideration is this 1999 Chevy Cavalier.  This vehicle is up for sale because of a new car purchase. Fourth owner, and have owned the vehicle since 2006. Recent maintenance has been performed here at Gainesville Chevrolet. Kelley Blue Book estimates the value of this car at over $2100.

The Cavalier has lower mileage than expected for the year; only 83,005. This reflects in the interior condition; the seats and controls are in good shape. The car runs well, and has never broken down. The tires are in very good condition, all match, and probably have over 80% tread life remaining. The car drives straight and fairly quietly for the age.

The honest disclosures: The hood has a dent and is slightly bent (this is evident in the pictures). The paint is not perfect, but is in above average condition for the year. There are a few rock chips and blemishes, and a few light scratches on the body. The only rust spot I can find is a small one near the radio antenna. The dashboard at the very top is cracked (typical for Cavaliers from this generation). The A/C only works on fan settings 3 and 4, but you'll want it there during the FL summer! The A/C also needs recharging a few times per year and costs about $40 to do - it will need a charge soon. There is some oil residue in the engine bay, but there are not any major leaks and the car does not smoke at all or burn oil. The brakes squeak sometimes, and will probably need new pads in the next few weeks. The tint on the rear window is also peeling and will need replacement or removal.

Overall the car is in very good shape considering it is 14 years old. The interior is in great shape with the exception of the top of the dash, and the exterior is in overall good shape. It will be a good, cheap car for whoever buys it! With proper maintenance and care, it could also make a good, inexpensive first car.

Please message me with questions or to see the car. Thank you for your interest!

How a Texas Hyundai dealer became the Chevy SSR king

Tue, Apr 21 2015

The SSR isn't one of the most appreciated vehicles in Chevy's long history. With a style amalgamating the look of a vintage hotrod, convertible and a pickup, it's really serving a niche market right from the start. However, a Hyundai dealer in Texas has turned selling the cult models into a booming business and has become the de facto king of the quirky truck. According to Automotive News, Paul Peebles runs North Freeway Hyundai in Spring, TX, but he's better known in the Chevy SSR community the premiere seller of the weird model through his used car network. The odd venture started in 2010 when Peebles wanted to boost his pre-owned business and bought several sporty vehicles. Among them were five SSRs, and he threw a cookout for owners to get the word out. Things just ballooned from there. Since then, Peebles' used car dealer has had a hand in 447 SSR transactions, and some of those are the same truck coming back to sell again. With just over 24,000 of them out there, that works about to two percent of the model's production moving through just one business. The dealership also sponsors an SSR owners' forum online. Being a major broker for a niche model also means that Peebles often gets rare examples of the SSR, including some of the Indianapolis 500 pace car versions, according to Automotive News. We even saw a bizarre one last year when the business put this shark-inspired truck on eBay Motors. The whole thing also works out well for Peebles' Hyundai business. Specializing in SSRs brings other performance models in as trade-ins, and they can draw folks to the lot to check out the collection. Then, maybe visitors can take a look at a Sonata, too.

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
