Like Shrek Only Blue. Strong And Beautiful Inside, Not So Great Outside. on 2040-cars
Corona, California, United States
This has been and still is a great running car. My son used it to drive to college and/or work at least 4-5 days per week.
There is less than 82,000 miles on the car. He maintained it regularly with the mechanic that takes care of all our vehicles. I can provide the mechanics information and you can speak to me or the mechanic directly regarding this car. The mechanic has referred this car to a couple customers, so it may not make it to the end of auction. It could be sold early locally. THE GOOD! The engine is great and very dependable, gets really good MPG, has no leaks and runs as it should. All maintenance is up to date. We just installed a new Catalytic Converter ($400) so it would pass smog here in California. Smog will be completed prior to your pick up. The brakes are good and the transmission shifts smooth through all the automatic gears. The Air Conditioner blows very cold. There is no chips or cracks in the glass. The interior looks good, it has dark gray stain resistant fabric with a split fold down rear seat. It drives straight and true as it travels down the road. Alignment recently done. Our mechanic was not concerned about the vehicle's history report. All the electrical items work: turn signals- headlights - outlets - interior lights. The Not So Good! As indicated there is a salvage title, not a big deal on an older car at this price. The previous damage was contained to the front end and repaired. Our mechanic has inspected the car numerous times and does not see the damage indicated on the history report. There have been a few other minor incidents to the grill and fenders. We have replaced the fenders. The grill can use more work. There are a few dents in the hood from a group of kids that wanted to make some noise on New Years Eve. The hood has a few dents in the metal. There are a couple small cracks in the plastic where the sun hits the dash. But the rest of the dash looks pretty good. There are a couple bumper stickers and a magnet that did not come off as they should have (a residue is stuck on the rear fender). Like I said, We call this the "Blue Shrek"!! Not so good looking, but a strong heart with a great attitude. This would be a good car for a student or someone that needs a dependable car for driving around. |

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch
Mon, 04 Feb 2013According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.
Opel's version of the Chevy Bolt will confuse people at Paris Motor Show
Fri, Aug 26 2016Two things are now official. First, Opel will reveal the Ampera-e, or the European version of the Chevrolet Bolt, at the Paris Motor Show in October. Second, General Motors has outdone itself in brand confusion, topping the Bolt/Volt ridiculousness. Opel isn't giving a single-charge range for the Ampera-e but the company is promising a "significantly longer range" than other electric vehicles. The Bolt is estimated to have a 200-mile range on the EPA scale, so whatever the Opel achieves on the European cycle will be done with the same batteries and motor as the Chevy. Opel is also looking to appeal to the auto enthusiasts with other factoids, which are basically just Bolt stats translated into metric. For instance, the Ampera-e will be able to go 0 to 50 kilometers per hour (which is 31 miles per hour to us Americans, but we're talking Europe here) in just 3.2 seconds. And for those looking to stay connected, as many as seven mobile devices can attached to the car's wireless hot spot. GM said in February that the European of the Bolt would be available across the pond next year, so the most recent bit of news isn't shocking. Still, General Motors continues to create confusion between all-electric Bolt and the extended-range plug-in Volt. It's already been reported that the Korean symbol and pronunciation of what is "B" in English is identical to the English "V," meaning that there is no difference between "Bolt" and "Volt" in that country (though there are no plans to sell the Bolt in South Korea as of yet). Now, in Europe, they're taking the name they used to use for the European of the Volt — Ampera — and merely adding an "-e" at the end of it. For those looking to be less confused, take a look at Opel's press release here. EcoCar3 will convert Camaro to bitchin' eco rides
Sat, Apr 26 2014In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party.
