Like Shrek Only Blue. Strong And Beautiful Inside, Not So Great Outside. on 2040-cars

Year:2003 Mileage:82000
Location:

Corona, California, United States

Corona, California, United States

This has been and still is a great running car.  My son used it to drive to college and/or work at least 4-5 days per week.
There is less than 82,000 miles on the car. He maintained it regularly with the mechanic that takes care of all our vehicles.
I can provide the mechanics information and you can speak to me or the mechanic directly regarding this car.
The mechanic has referred this car to a couple customers, so it may not make it to the end of auction. It could be sold early locally.

THE GOOD!
The engine is great and very dependable, gets really good MPG, has no leaks and runs as it should.  All maintenance is up to date.
We just installed a new Catalytic Converter ($400) so it would pass smog here in California. Smog will be completed prior to your pick up.
The brakes are good and the transmission shifts smooth through all the automatic gears. The Air Conditioner blows very cold.
There is no chips or cracks in the glass. The interior looks good, it has dark gray stain resistant fabric with a split fold down rear seat.
It drives straight and true as it travels down the road. Alignment recently done. Our mechanic was not concerned about the vehicle's history report.
All the electrical items work: turn signals- headlights - outlets - interior lights.

The Not So Good!
As indicated there is a salvage title, not a big deal on an older car at this price. The previous damage was contained to the front end and repaired.
Our mechanic has inspected the car numerous times and does not see the damage indicated on the history report.
There have been a few other minor incidents to the grill and fenders. We have replaced the fenders. The grill can use more work.
There are a few dents in the hood from a group of kids that wanted to make some noise on New Years Eve.  The hood has a few dents in the metal.
There are a couple small cracks in the plastic where the sun hits the dash.  But the rest of the dash looks pretty good.
There are a couple bumper stickers and a magnet that did not come off as they should have (a residue is stuck on the rear fender).
Like I said,  We call this the "Blue Shrek"!!  Not so good looking, but a strong heart with a great attitude.

This would be a good car for a student or someone that needs a dependable car for driving around.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?

Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. You can check out the full press release below. You can also read the full study on the Consumer Reports site, or scroll down for a short video recap.

LG Chem's troubled Chevy Volt battery plant hiring once again

Thu, Sep 25 2014

The Michigan battery plant known for paying its workers to do nothing has turned things around and is now hiring more workers, specifically to do something. South Korea-based LG Chem, which runs the factory to supply the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in vehicle with its lithium-ion batteries, held a job fair recently to bring on 40 new employees in order to meet higher battery demand, according to WZZM, the ABC affiliate for Grand Rapids, MI. The LG Chem factory is in Holland, MI, about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids, and it made its first batteries last year. Prior to that, though, the factory gained notoriety after a US Department of Energy (DOE) probe found that workers there were getting paid to do, well, nothing. That's because demand for the battery packs was so low that it cost less for the plant to sit idle. The DOE was conducting the probe because of its financial grant to LG Chem. But that was then and today is today. LG Chem is looking to ramp up production in advance of the second-generation Volt. That 2016 model-year version is said to have a longer all-electric range and better performance and will ride on a new chassis, but few official details have surfaced. We will know more when we get our first look at the car at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
