Getting sick and tired of the up and down ridiculous gas prices??  With the price of gas skyrocketing yet again, there's no better time to buy an alternative fuel vehicle.  Here is your chance to own a hard to find 2002 Chevy Cavalier CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) and gasoline 4-door sedan.  Save big $$$ with natural gas, while helping clean up the environment.  This is a factory CNG package, NOT an aftermarket retrofit.  This is a dual fuel and can run on CNG or regular gasoline.  The best of both worlds and worry free driving if you run out of CNG.

I am a CSA certified CNG cylinder inspector.  I have been dealing in CNG vehicles for 7+ years.  All cylinders are inspected for damage in accordance with 3yr/36,000 mile guidelines so bid with confidence.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions as I am always happy to assist.  631-871-3459 (Seth).

CNG Specs:

Compressed Natural Gas Tank Capacity: Approximately 6.9 US Gallons Gasoline Equivalent(GGE) @3600 psi 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). Average CNG range approx 120-160 miles.  Exp. date 6/2016

·  This hard to find 2002 Chevy Cavalier Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) bifuel sedan.  Equipped with the economical 2.2L 4cyl engine and automatic transmission.  This is a one owner fleet maintained gov't vehicle.  ONLY 81K Miles! BEWARE of people selling vehicles with untested/unfilled or empty CNG systems.  CNG system functions.  This vehicle has been filled with CNG and test driven 30+ miles.  This vehicle is super economical to drive with CNG priced under $1.00 a gal in many areas.  State tax credit still available (Utah and other states that offer tax credits).

What is CNG???

Compressed Natural Gas or CNG, is one of nature's best untapped energy sources.  Unlike fossil fuels, it is constantly produced by the earth and can also me synthesized through chemical processes.  Cyber_lot. The technology has been around for decades but until recently has been kept in the closet by big oil!  It is one of the fastest growing alternative fuel sources and unlike biodiesel and ethanol (E85), is a viable replacement for petroleum.  Within the next 10 years 90% of gov't fleets will be CNG and civilian population will follow over the next 20 yrs.

Why should I buy a CNG/Bi Fuel Vehicle?

  • SAVE MONEY!  CNG is about 1/3 less than reguar unleaded and more stable in price.  AS LOW AS 99 CENTS PER GAL IN SOME AREAS!
  • CNG burns with practically no emissions compared to petroleum fuel so each mile you drive helps the environment....THINK GREEN
  • CNG is safer (less volatile) than gasoline as it has a higher ignition temp, 1200 deg vs 800 deg.
  • CNG poses little if any environment risk of contamination and in the event of an accident where tanks are breached, it evaporates into the air with no spill Cyber_lot
  • CNG fill stations are growing more and more each day.  Check the links below for fill station locations across the US.
  • You can fill up at home using a Phil Fuelmaker device if you have a natural gas line.  Cyber_lot No more trips to the gas station.  Tax deductible.
  • Most states allow you to drive solo in the HOV lane.
  • CNG is not corrosive like gasoline and wears MUCH easier on a motor.  Most CNG fueled engines require oil changes less frequently and sparkplugs last almost forever.  Overall engine life is usually significantly extended.  Cyber_lot
  • Unlike hybrid electric/gas cars, there are no costly batteries ($6000) to replace
  • Unlike hybrid electric vehicles, the CNG drivetrain is the same as the gasoline counterpart and can be serviced by most mechanics.  Cyber_lot.  Only the CNG fuel system requires specially trained service technicians.
  • There may be tax credits/deductions available for CNG vehicle owners and for the purchase of a Phil Fuelmaker (check with IRS and state tax authorities)
  • Be the first person in your town to sport a CNG ride.  Cyber_lot Almost always a conversation starter when you open the trunk!

Drivetrain

Engine starts up and runs strong.  Only 81k miles. NO knocks, NO smoke, NO dripping engine leaks.  Transmission shifts into and through all gears smoothly as it should.  Has proper acceleration and cruises at highway speed.  The 2.2L engine is durable and efficient among the GM 4cyl motors and should easily last 300K+ miles with proper maintenance.  This was a fleet maintained vehicle with regular servicing, including oil changes at proper intervals.

Exterior

Paint has most of its factory shine and glistens in the sun as you can see.  No major dents or rot on the body.  There are some dings, nicks, scratches, and minor blemishes here and there on the body. There is some missing/peeled clear coat in a few spots on the rear driver side quarter panel area (see pic).  Overall the body is straight.   The gasoline fuel door flap/cover is missing.  Please keep in mind this is not a showroom new but in good condition for a fleet vehicle of this age.

This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome

Fri, Dec 5 2014

The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first. Which electric cars can charge at a Tesla Supercharger?

Sun, Jul 9 2023

The difference between Tesla charging and non-Tesla charging. Electrify America; Tesla Tesla's advantage has long been its charging technology and Supercharger network. Now, more and more automakers are switching to Tesla's charging tech. But there are a few things non-Tesla drivers need to know about charging at a Tesla station. A lot has hit the news cycle in recent months with regard to electric car drivers and where they can and can't plug in. The key factor in all of that? Whether automakers switched to Tesla's charging standard. More car companies are shifting to Tesla's charging tech in the hopes of boosting their customers' confidence in going electric.  Here's what it boils down to: If you currently drive a Tesla, you can keep charging at Tesla charging locations, which use the company's North American Charging Standard (NACS), which has long served it well. The chargers are thinner, more lightweight and easier to wrangle than other brands.  If you currently drive a non-Tesla EV, you have to charge at a non-Tesla charging station like that of Electrify America or EVgo — which use the Combined Charging System (CCS) — unless you stumble upon a Tesla charger already equipped with the Magic Dock adapter. For years, CCS tech dominated EVs from everyone but Tesla.  Starting next year, if you drive a non-Tesla EV (from the automakers that have announced they'll make the switch), you'll be able to charge at all Supercharger locations with an adapter. And by 2025, EVs from some automakers won't even need an adaptor.  Here's how to charge up, depending on which EV you have:  Ford 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. Tim Levin/Insider Ford was the earliest traditional automaker to team up with Tesla for its charging tech. Current Ford EV owners — those driving a Ford electric vehicle already fitted with a CCS port — will be able to use a Tesla-developed adapter to access Tesla Superchargers starting in the spring. That means that, if you own a Mustang Mach-E or Ford F-150 Lightning, you will need the adapter in order to use a Tesla station come 2024. But Ford will equip its future EVs with the NACS port starting in 2025 — eliminating the need for any adapter. Owners of new Ford EVs will be able to pull into a Supercharger station and juice up, no problem. General Motors Cadillac Lyriq. Cadillac GM will also allow its EV drivers to plug into Tesla stations.

Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint

Thu, May 21 2020

For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.
