2007 Shelby Gt500 Convertible 597 Hp 624 Ft-lb @ Rear Wheels! on 2040-cars
Phoenix, Arizona, United States
I am the second owner and have had this vehicle for over three
years. I seem to only be able to keep a vehicle for about two years, then I'm looking for something else. Every time, however, I start to list this car, I go for a drive and chicken out. There is no way to have another car with this kind of experience! With the top down, hearing the supercharger and exhaust makes it difficult to want to turn on the stereo (which sounds phenomenal). Here is a summary of this car; I bought it from the original owner in December, 2010, on
Ebay. The car had 1900 miles on it and
now has approximately 17,500. Optional equipment includes; Shaker 1000 Audio system I have all receipts and paperwork for this vehicle, since new. The original owner purchased the following aftermarket
items; “Shelby” map light accessory Shift boot trim (billet) (I don't like this trim piece and do not have it in the vehicle, but I did include it in some of the photos) Cup holder trim (Billet) Dash Plaque (Autographed by Carroll Shelby w/cert of
authenticity) Shelby GT500 sill plate (2) Shelby GT500 license plate frame (Billet) K&N intake and aircharger JBA exhaust w/Shelby tips I have done a couple things to the car since I've had it; Diablo Sport Programmer/Tuner (to be included with the vehicle). The car was then dyno-ed at 500 HP and 472 Ft-Lb @ the rear wheels. Although this was a lot of power, I grew use to it and wanted more. I installed sound insulation in the trunk and rear quarter panels, as the bass from the stereo caused a metal vibration sound only noticeable when standing outside of the vehicle. The insulation took care of this issue. The original owner purchased Super Snake wheels and
tires that came with the car when I bought it.
Personally I like the original wheels, so I kept the OEM and sold the aftermarket
wheels. I rolled that money into the engine and purchased; Smaller supercharger pulley combo with idler Afco Heat Exchanger NGK spark plugs Shelby Hood Struts (replaces hood prop) The car now has 597 HP and 624 Ft-Lb @ the rear wheels, which is more than enough. This car has never been raced and only adult driven. This car will get away from you if you're too heavy footed, so you really have to drive it (which is one of the reasons the original owner sold it and one of the reasons I love it so much). My favorite part of driving this car is getting on the freeway; that is pretty much the only time I let it run out, as I do not need a ticket. Although it has 17k miles, it still looks great and has no
door dings or curb marks on the wheels. I replaced the tires about four thousand miles ago (Yokohama
AdvanSport) and a new battery 03/13. This car is not my daily driver and I pretty much only drive it when it is top down weather. Additionally, I only hand wash it. I will include the convertible boot cover and car cover. Imperfections; In my attempt to park as far away from anything in our
garage, I brushed against the garage door and scraped the paint on the right
front bumper (shown in photos). There are a couple rock chips on the hood over the left
headlight and two small rock chips on the driver side door. I attempted to photograph them, but they’re
difficult to see. Finally, there is a small chip taken out of the vinyl stripe
on the hood, by the right side windshield washer (the white paint is not
affected). I have described everything I can think of. I am a man of my word, and my feedback reflects it. If you do not have 100% positive feedback, or NO feedback, you need to contact me prior to bidding. I know the market and what this car is worth. I am starting the bidding at 33k, which is the minimum that I will even consider, as I do not need to sell. I am not interested in any trades. There is no lien on the vehicle and I have title in hand. This vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at any time. I have more photos available upon request. Thanks for looking, Scott 602-478-2308 |

Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT. Go check out the full comparison to read all of the details, then let us know what you think in Comments.
Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra could get independent rear suspension
Fri, Jan 3 2020The Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra could reportedly receive a variant of the four-link independent rear suspension found under the new Tahoe and Suburban. While that's not a surprise, a recent report suggests electrification, not comfort, convinced General Motors to make the change. Replacing the time-tested solid rear axle with an independent suspension will improve comfort, handling and off-road prowess, while adding weight, and likely making the trucks a little bit more expensive. It's a fair trade-off, but GM Authority learned the real reason for the swap is that at least one of the pickups will spawn an electric model, and it's more difficult to package a bulky battery pack around a solid rear axle. The independent rear suspension takes up far less space, even if it has more moving parts. General Motors will build its first regular-production electric pickup on an evolution of the Silverado's T1 platform named BT1, according to the same source. The b stands for -- you guessed it -- batteries. The firm reportedly doesn't want to make two suspensions for cost reasons, so the independent setup will come standard regardless of whether the truck runs on gasoline, diesel, or electricity. As a bonus, Chevrolet and GMC could choose to offer their T1-based trucks with Magnetic Ride Control or an air suspension, options available on the 2021 Suburban and Tahoe. The independent rear suspension will also find its way to the next-generation GMC Yukon due to be revealed January 14, and to the 2021 Cadillac Escalade scheduled to make its debut February 4. The long-rumored, born-again Hummer will get it, too, because it will arrive as an electric model built on the BT1 platform. It's worth noting none of this is official, and General Motors has remained quiet about what's next for its new suspension design, and what will be under its electric truck's sheet metal. If the GM Authority report is accurate, the Silverado (pictured) and the Sierra could ditch their solid rear axle for the 2021 model year. The change will likely be accompanied by other tweaks inside and out. Featured Gallery 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 View 16 Photos Chevrolet GMC Truck
Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
