This is my 1996 Caprice Classic with the LT1 motor and sport package that I bought new in December 1996. It is dark green grey metallic with grey cloth interior. It has 145,300 miles and located in eastern PA. It is PA inspected through 10/13. It has the heavy duty cooling with mechanical fan (trans oil cooler; radiator engine oil cooler); power seats; CD player; heat reflective windshield; leather wrapped steering wheel. Kumo all season tires have about 60% tread remaining. Over the years I have done a few minor modifications that include: 17 inch Impala SS wheels with Chevy bowtie center caps; Impala SS grille; Impala SS tail lights; Impala SS rear spoiler; bilstein shocks; power steering oil cooler; Power Slot rotors, and steel brake lines. All parts where GM parts except the rotors, bilsteins, and braided brake lines. Within the past 15,000 miles I have done the following: opti-spark and vent harness, water pump, radiator and heater hoses, belts, belt tensioners, spark plugs and wires - all New AC Delco parts. New AC Delco A/C compressor and accumulator and fan clutch. New front (Hawk) and rear (AC Delco) brake pads and shoes. New GM rebuilt transmission at 108,000 miles. Extremely well maintained and driven. Runs and performs great. Everything works except the cigarette lighter and trunk light. It is missing some door pull strap covers and the sun visor clip on driver's side. The odometer is unclear for the first few minutes after starting and then gets clear - the digital speedometer has no issues at all. No tears in upholstery and no one has ever smoked in the car. After spending about half of its life not in a garage, the paint is rough in spots, especially front bumper and there is one area of rust on the driver's side door sill, captured in the pictures. Please ask any questions that you may have and thank you for looking. EDIT: The carfax will say 2 owners because it was re-titled in FL for 1.5 years while I was there. As you will see, it was then re-titled back to PA. |

Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
Chevy Bolt wins 2017 Green Car of the Year
Thu, Nov 17 2016We knew that a plug-in vehicle was going to win the 2017 Green Car of the Year award this year, given that all five finalists have a way to charge up. And when Ron Cogan, the editor and publisher of Green Car Journal, announced the winner – the 2017 Chevy Bolt EV – he said that the car itself represents one of those times in the auto industry when everything is about to change. Similar to the invention of the starter motor, things are about to get different. For now, though, the fact that the Bolt EV won an award sounds like the same old thing all over again. Just this week, it was named Motor Trends Car of the Year and to the Car And Driver Top 10 list. The other four finalists for Green Car of the Year included the Toyota Prius Prime, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Kia Optima (including hybrid and plug-in hybrid models) and the BMW 330e iPerformance. Last year, the winner was the 2016 Chevy Volt. Did Green Car Journal make the right selection this year? See the award ceremony below.
