Purchased this from the friend of mine at the New Holland, IL Police Department on 8/1/2011 and the transformation started. Built this to last and keep forever, but I need to sell it to  help pay for my daughters fall semester.

True 95 Dark Cherry Metallic 9C1 Caprice with nearly no rust. Car had just over 100k miles when purchased. Car has all the unique HD features of a 9C1 Police Car and has one car key for everything.

Engine-Pulled the entire drive train and installed a newer Lt1 engine with 66k from a wrecked Roadmaster. Police engines have tons of idle time, so I yanked it out and bought a very clean wrecked  Roadmaster one.

I had the transmission professionally rebuilt with bigger and better clutches (Level 2), and installed a 3000 9 inch stall, all new gm transmission lines. Purchased custom made transmission cross member

I installed 373  true GM gears with a 8.5 Eaton Posi with all new Timiken bearings and seals and a new 3 inch Aluminum drive shaft.  (Drives perfect with no whine or vibration)

Before the newer LT1 was installed, Replaced every single gasket or seal in and out of this motor, Installed a Crane 104227 camshaft, (Perfect cam for these cars)
Installed new Crane Gold  Full Roller Rockers,Installed  New GM Opti Spark, New Taylor spark plug wires and new spark plugs, Installed composite LT4 Valve covers, Fully ported  intake (that included runners and throttle intake holes) to accept the New 52 BBK throttle body, installed a new  Jegs High Flow Electric Water Pump, New GM timing chain ( while I was in there) and new 9c1 Oil cooler lines and a new radiator. A/C drier and all o-ring / orifice tube was replaced. Custom made Cold Air Intake with K and N type Filter.

A new PCM was sent to PCMforeless and flashed to make this car run correctly,  shift correctly, and the speedometer to be accurate.

Suspension- Installed Hotchkis Springs that lower it, Huge Front and Rear "B-Body Performance" Sway Bars with all new bushings, 4 new Monroe SS Police shocks and replaced the lower ball-joints with Moogs oversize. UMI  Extended lower and Upper control arms to center the rear wheels, plus make it handle so much better.  This is the best suspension  set up for these cars.

Wheels and Tires- New 17 inch Black Powder Coated Wheels with newer tires 275/40/17 in rear. All weights are on the inside.

Exhaust- New Ceramic Coated Headers (Tri-y/ SLP  Custom made) These are the best headers anyone buy. Coating is guaranteed for 5 years,- 2.5 inch stainless steel x-pipe-new dual exhaust with MagnaFlow 2.5inch stainless steel mufflers.  THIS CAR IS NOT LOUD WITH THE X-PIPE,  JUST A VERY NICE DEEP TONE.

Rebuilt the complete interior with grey, used to be maroon. Purchased parts from everywhere to have everything in grey. Dash is perfect, door panels are in great shape, and all the window rollers have been replaced with new round ones, headliner was replaced with new grey one,  Radio is a aftermarket, new pioneer speakers, and custom made center console with cup holders. True 96 9c1 seats and seat belts. I deleted all the wood grain and install black impala ss door bezels. Carpet is from low mileage Roadmaster and is in great shape, no holes, rips, or tears. I added a rear view mirror that displays the outside temp and a compass in the top left corner of the mirror.

I REMOVED FLOOR MATS FOR PICS OF INTERIOR AND CARPET TO GET THE TRUE IDEA OF HOW NICE THIS CAR IS- FLOOR MATS WILL BE INCLUDED WITH THE SALE.

I coated the entire bottom on this car while drive-train was removed with a a product call ZERO-Rust, so this car would never rust.

Brakes are stock but with new pads.
I installed new fuel pump just because I thought ti made need it.
All gauges interior lights, dash lights, ect  work great, has great oil pressure, and is very fast.

I don't race and never go to the track, but this car is very fast and handles like a very expensive car.

Exterior of car looks shiny and very good, but it does have a few small door dings in the driver side front fender and normal wear and tear for a old police car.
I get compliments every time I drive this car with the way it looks and the sound of the engine. I installed 4 DCM original door handles, lower rocker moldings, and front grill, from a 96 impala ss.  Made a custom rear truck key hole cover that looks very good. Car leaks nothing and needs nothing.

I have been a Police Officer in St. Louis for 17 years and currently work nights, and also a decent mechanic during the day. I build these cars for fun, and never take shorts cuts or buy cheap parts.

THIS IS BEING SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER WITH TRUE NO RESERVE!  I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THIS CAR IS WORTH
DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE CASH IN HAND.                                NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HAVE OVER 12K IN THIS MOSTLY FOR PARTS SINCE I INSTALLED EVERYTHING MYSELF AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CAR.

PLEASE DON'T WASTE MY TIME, IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 10 POSITIVE FEEDBACK PLEASE CALL ME BEFORE YOU BID OTHERWISE YOUR BID WILL BE REMOVED.

CAR CAN BE STORE INSIDE MY SHOP FOR A LENGTH OF TIME TO ARRANGE SHIPPING, BUT CAR MUST BE PAID FOR COMPLETELY IN 7 DAYS- DEPOSIT DUE IN 24 HRS AFTER AUCTION ENDS.

I'M SURE THERE ARE MORE MODS I HAVE FORGOT TO MENTION, BUT THESE ARE SOME OF THE BIG ONES.

I DRIVE THIS CAR EVERY DAY TO WORK.

THANKS FOR LOOKING!!!!!

The best Super Bowl car commercials from the last 5 years

Wed, Jan 28 2015

If you've been dipping into the Autoblog feed over the past days and weeks, you wouldn't even have to be a sports fan to know the Super Bowl is coming up. Automakers have been teasing their spots for the big game, dropping them days early, fully-formed onto the Internet and otherwise trying to amp up the multi-million-dollar outlays that they've made for air time on the biggest advertising day of the year. And, we're into it. The lead up to the Super Bowl is almost akin to a mini auto show around these parts; with automakers being amongst the most prolific advertisers on these special Sundays. The crop of ads from 2015 looks as strong as ever, but we thought we'd take a quick look back at some of our favorite spots from the last five years. Take a look at our picks – created from a very informal polling of Autoblog editors and presented in no particular order – and then tell us about your recent faves, in Comments. Chrysler, Imported From Detroit Chrysler, Eminem and a lingering pan shot of "The Fist" – it doesn't get much more Motown than 2011's Imported From Detroit. With the weight of our staffers hailing from in and around The D, it's no wonder that our memories still favor this epic Super Bowl commercial (even though the car it was shilling was crap). Imported really set the tone for later Chrysler ads, too, repeated the formula: celebrity endorsement + dramatic copy + dash of jingoism = pulled car-guy heartstrings. Mercedes-Benz, Soul teaser with Kate Upton One of our favorite Super Bowl commercials (and yours, based on the insane number of views you logged) didn't even technically air during the game. Mercedes-Benz teased its eventual spot Soul with 90-seconds worth of Kate Upton threatening to do her best Joy Harmon impression. (Teaser indeed.) It doesn't win points for cleverness, use of music, acting, or any compelling carness, but it proved that Mercedes' advertisers knew how to make a splash in the Internet Age. And, hey, it's still classier than every GoDaddy commercial. Kia, A Dream Car. For Real Life Like the Mercedes video above, the initial draw here is a pretty lady; in this case the always stunning Adriana Lima. But this Kia commercial really delivers the extra effort we expect while scarfing crabby snacks and homemades, too. First of all, Motley Crue. Second, a cowboy on a bucking rhino. Enjoy yet again.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

GM Recalls 218,000 Chevy Aveo Models Over Fire-Prone Lighting

Wed, May 21 2014

The recall train keeps on rolling for General Motors. Hot on the heels of its recent 2.4 million-vehicle recall of various models, it's now calling in 218,000 Chevrolet Aveo units from the 2004-2008 model years because they could catch fire. The problem concerns the daytime running light module in the instrument panel. It could overheat, melt and cause a fire. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, "We are aware of some fires," and the company "is still investigating." Adler wouldn't comment about how many fires were reported or when the automaker was first aware of this issue because of the ongoing analysis. However, he said the issue has not caused any injuries or fatalities. GM also doesn't have a fix for the problem with the DRL module yet. The company says in its recall statement to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the remedy "is still under development." Adler wasn't sure when it would be ready, but he said Aveo owners would receive notification in the mail "relatively soon." They will receive a second letter later to schedule the repair. In a separate letter about the Aveo's problem to NHTSA (viewable here as a PDF), GM said its Executive Field Action Decision Committee decided to conduct the recall on May 16. Scroll down for the recall report. RECALL Subject : Daytime Running Light Module Overheating Report Receipt Date: MAY 19, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V261000 Component(s): Potential Number of Units Affected: 218,000 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2004-2008 Chevrolet Aveo vehicles equipped with daytime running lights (DRL). In the affected vehicles, there may be heat generated within the DRL module located in the center console in the instrument panel, which could melt the DRL module. CONSEQUENCE: If the DRL module melts due to the heat generation, it could cause a vehicle fire. REMEDY: The remedy for this recall campaign is still under development. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact General Motors customer service at 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). General Motors recall number for this campaign is 14236. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
