1994 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Station Wagon on 2040-cars

Year:1994 Mileage:153000

Vancouver, Washington, United States

1994 Caprice “COPO” Station Wagon.  Garage kept Southern California car with 153,000 highway miles. Zero rust, no accidents or damage history.  PS, PB, PW, PDL, AC, CC, power mirrors and drivers seat with aftermarket keyless entry. 8 passenger with rear fold down seat.  Everything in the car works and difficult to find in this condition.  Original no wood white car with grey interior. This car is 1 of 1 built in 1994 with specific options through comp nine VIN decoder. There were approximately 13,000 LT1 powered ‘94-’96 Caprice wagons before they were discontinued in 1996.  This is a fine example of the last of the generation.
I've owned the car for 3 years and put 5,000 miles on it.  I purchased the car to have something to tow my race car to the track and fun to drive on the street.  I have since sold my race car and never got to the point of towing with the car.

The wagon is visually stock appearing but has had the following upgrades performed since I’ve owned the car and includes all receipts:

Engine- All tune-up parts have been replaced on the stock 260 HP 5.7L LT1 engine. Spark plugs, Magnacore plug wires, AC delco O2 sensors, PCV valve, fuel filter and air filter. Lower radiator hose and coolant replaced as well. Cap and rotor replace by previous owner. Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic oil just changed.  Car has a performance PCM tune from PCM4Less and runs on 92 octane fuel and uses a 160*F thermostat.  Car runs very strong.

Exhaust- Full 2.5” mandrel bent catback exhaust system with Pypes stainless steel X-pipe, large case Dynomax “hemi” super turbo mufflers, sedan mandrel bent tail pipes modified for use on a wagon with Dynomax race bullet mufflers used as resonators.  Tail pipes exit in stock location and were fabricated to look just like stock but larger diameter.  Very quiet with no drone.

Transmission- Rebuilt original Street/Strip 4L60E transmission. It has the Beast sunshell, Raybestos pro band and 3/4 Zpak clutches. Borg Warner 29 element sprag, Sonnax super hold OD servo, bushing kit, thrust washer kit, rebuilt pump assembly with .500 boost valve and Sonnax HP pump slide spring, Transgo HD2 valve body kit, all new frictions, steels, gaskets, electronics and filter.  Filled with Dextron VI synthetic fluid.  A high-end Level III, IV, build etc… that will hold up to 6-700 HP or heavy duty towing.  The car has an OEM LT1 Corvette torque converter.  Shift points have been reprogrammed for more spirited driving.

Rear-end- Rebuilt original 8.5/8.6” rear end with 4.10 gears with an Eaton Truetrac differential and custom made ABS reluctor so the ABS functions.  Synthetic fluid and new carrier bearings during set-up.  Rear brakes are new. I’ve only taken one highway trip of a couple hundred miles and average 20MPG.

Wheels/Tires- Vintage 15” steel wheels for the 5x5 bolt pattern that accept factory dog dish poverty caps.  They have been powder coated gloss white and have new 235/75/15 XL load range tires.  Very rare dog dish hub caps from ‘63 full size Biscayne or ‘65-66 Nova. They are good driver quality but have some cracks and splits.

Suspension- Car has been aligned and has Monroe sensatrac shocks and Airlift air bags have been installed in the rear of the car in anticipation for towing.

Misc- The stock headlights have been updated to HID and are 4300K in color like an OEM BMW bi-xenon headlight.  The factory air pump has been removed from the car per General Motors Technical Service Bulletin and included with the sale. I’ve run the car through Washington State emissions for local buyers . Front and rear wiper blades also replaced.  As far as flaws, the driver’s side carpet has wear.  I have custom made over-sized floor mats in the car so the wear is not visible and includes a custom made cargo area mat.  There is general light interior wear but shows well as does the exterior.  The only mechanical items on the to-do list is a small exhaust leak at the passenger side manifold area at cold start-up and some driveline vibration on the hwy.  I have the original owners manual and window sticker as well.

Many thousands spent updating the car to be a unique tow vehicle and fun daily driver.   Let me know if you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment for viewing.  Thanks for looking!

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, hence  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950s and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with the American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.

Weekly Recap: Volvo buys Polestar, makes performance a priority

Sat, Jul 18 2015

Volvo is taking its performance business in-house, and the Swedish carmaker announced Tuesday that it bought tuning company Polestar, which has long been known for producing sporty Volvos. The move allows Volvo to ramp up its performance business, and it plans to increase Polestar-branded vehicle sales to 1,000 to 1,500 annually, up from the 750 total projected for this year. The companies have been working together on motorsports projects since 1996. Financial terms of the sale were not released, and Polestar workers will move over to Volvo. Former Polestar owner Christian Dahl will keep control of the Polestar racing team and operate it under a new name. In addition to sales volume, Volvo has ambitious plans for other parts of Polestar, including its aftermarket business. Volvo also said it will use its twin-engine hybrid technology for Polestar models in the future, though specifics and timing were not revealed. Meanwhile, Volvo announced it will offer a run of 265 total Polestars in the United States for the 2016 model year, with S60 and V60s available. "Driving a Volvo Polestar is a special experience. We have decided to bring this experience to more Volvo drivers, placing the full resources of Volvo behind the development of Polestar as the model name for our high performance cars," Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra, get nose jobs Automakers tend to refer to light updates as 'facelifts,' and that's exactly what Chevy gave the 2016 Silverado and GMC Sierra. Chevy slightly changed the front end of the truck. Using the one photo released of the new Z71 model as a guide, we can see that the headlights went from a stacked vertical design to single bulbs, and they are set on top of LED running lights. The grille has more body-colored elements instead of shiny metal, and the hood has a new line running down the middle (look really closely). The design theme will be similar across the portfolio, though materials and details will vary, a spokesman said. Some models, like the High Country and LTZ will have more chrome, and the LEDs are only for the upper trims. Chevy also said it will use the eight-speed automatic transmission on more versions of the Silverado, and it updated the MyLink feature to support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
