1988 Chevrolet Caprice Classic Sedan - Original Survivor 33,000 Mi - Garage Find on 2040-cars
Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, United States
1988 Chevrolet Caprice Classic - Garage Find -SURVIVOR - 33,000 mi. This beautiful car is a true TIME CAPSULE! 26 Years Old - Antique/ Historic Automobile All original - and yes the mileage is correct 33,780 It’s the closest thing to a BRAND NEW 1988 Chevy Caprice that you will find. Driving this car is like floating on a cloud. It tracks straight and brakes perfectly and evenly. If you have ever driven one of these cars, you know how smooth they can be. This one is the smoothest riding Chevrolet that I have ever driven. The Interior is FLAWLESS - I don’t think the backseat has ever been used. The carbureted 305 V-8 is whisper quiet and the transmission shifts perfectly. The engine compartment is so clean, you could eat off of it. NO LEAKS , RATTLES , OR SQUEAKS. The trunk is spacious and spotless. I believe that it has only ever seen grocery bags. The car is two-tone brown and super clean. Never in an accident - never repainted! - It was undercoated from the factory in 1988. There is no rust anywhere. The underside is clean as well. - The pictures will tell the real story. This vehicle is nearly IMMACULATE! There may be an ever-so minor blemish here or there, but to be quite honest, you’d be hard-pressed to find them. THE CHROME SHINES AND IS IN PERFECT SHAPE. Once again, this car is all original. It has been always been garaged and has never seen the snow or harsh elements. The rear tires are nearly new, and the front tires also have many miles left in them. There is a mini spare and a full spare tire included. The car has frosty cold air conditioning and an AM/FM stereo. I have seen many Caprice Classics for sale over the past few months, but this beauty is the cream of the crop. Rather than spend $25,000 on a new cheaply made automobile, why not spend a fraction of that on an as new 1988 Chevy Caprice Classic - You know as well as I that Detroit doesn’t make them like this any more. Don’t let this one slip away; you will regret it if you do. Good luck bidding and may God bless! On Apr-05-14 at 14:23:56 PDT, seller added the following information: I just located the original window sticker and owner's manual, and I wanted to update some information. The air conditioning and two-tone paint were options as well as the 305 4-barrel V-8. The MPG is rated at 16 City and 24 Highway. The original retail price with delivery and destination charges was $14,478. Also, the car does have new exhaust and a recent synthetic oil change. It was very well maintained. |

Chevy SS prototype spotted wearing Pontiac G8 clothes
Tue, 28 Aug 2012
Do not adjust your computer screen, you are not seeing the rebirth of the Pontiac brand. General Motors has chosen to use a G8 to disguise a test mule for the latest prototype of the forthcoming Chevrolet SS. The G8 was closely related to the Holden Commodore and Vauxhall VXR, the platform upon which the new Chevrolet performance model will be based. It should come as little surprise, then, that GM has opted to use the cladding from the former G8.
Thought the front clip of this mule is pure Pontiac, note the vents immediately behind the front wheel. That is a distinctive design hallmark of the Vauxhall VXR. Also note that this vehicle is right-hand drive, as the Holden and its Chevy counterpart will be very closely related. That likely includes potential drivetrains. The spy photos of this mule also reveal very wide rear tires, and rear wheels that do not match the fronts.
Suzuki recalls 2 million cars globally
Wed, Apr 22 2015Suzuki is recalling two million vehicles across the globe, including a number of Chevrolet Cruze sedans that it builds for General Motors, because the ignition switches may begin to smoke. None of the Cruzes being recalled were sold in the US, though. This recall is limited to the Japanese, European and Australian markets. In Suzuki's home market, 1,873,000 vehicles are being recalled, including the Cruze and a number kei cars built for Mazda (the Carol and AZ-Wagon), as well as the automaker's own Alto, Wagon R and Swift. Affected vehicles were built between 1998 and 2009. The remaining 133,000 vehicles include Cruzes and other Suzuki products sold in Europe and Australia. There have been no reports of injuries or accidents due to the 67 reported incidents, all of which come from the Japanese market, a Suzuki spokesperson told Automotive News. Related Video:
Body shop manager stole over $500,000 worth of government trucks and parts
Fri, Jan 27 2017The US Department of Justice announced yesterday that the manager of a collision and restoration business in Virginia admitted he helped misappropriate and sell vehicles and parts from the State Department. Specifically, he sold 12 Chevrolet Suburbans, a Hummer, and $7,500 worth of tires and wheels. He pled guilty to charges to commit theft of government property and wire fraud. He will likely see 18 to 20 months in prison, a fine of $4,000 to $40,000, and has already agreed to pay restitution of $416,020 and asset forfeiture of the same amount. According to the Department of Justice, the body shop manager, James Ratcliffe, worked with the owner of the business and a State Department official, both unnamed, to obtain the property. It started with the wheels and tires, which were delivered and sold on two occasions, one in 2011 and another in 2012. The trucks came later, and were sold throughout 2011 and 2013. Ratcliffe and the shop owner kept most of the profits, and shared some of the leftovers with the government official. In addition to the vehicles that were sold, the government official also gave Ratcliffe a pair of Suburbans for his own personal use. The Department of Justice estimated the total value of the SUVs at $96,400. In total, the group misappropriated $512,420 worth of property. Related Video:
