1984 Chevrolet Caprice Estate "woody" Station Wagon Gorgeous! Must See! on 2040-cars
Sterling Heights, Michigan, United States
Remember 1984? The Cosby Show, Cheers, Night Court, Dallas and Dynasty all ruled the small screen while movies like The Karate Kid, Sixteen Candles, Ghostbusters, Footloose and The Terminator where the top box office movies of the time. This 1984 Chevrolet Caprice Estate "woody" wagon with the 3rd row jump seat will certainly bring back memories for many people. Please see the video below and a link to well over a 100 pictures I have taken of my wagon. PLEASE NOTE, I just had the rear bumper fillers professionally painted and installed so the first bunch of pictures are BEFORE the new rear fillers were done. The last few pictures show the new fillers (which look awesome!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoNQmejXYIY http://s98.photobucket.com/user/colangp/library/1984%20Caprice%20Estate%20Wagon?sort=2&page=1 This amazing “survivor”, all original, numbers matching, 1984 Chevrolet Caprice Estate Wagon WITH the 3rd row "Jump Seat" with less than 63,000 original miles on it has had "technically" a total of 3 owners in its 30 year pampered life, but really, I'm feel I'm the 2nd owner. The car is an all original car from New Jersey. The original owners had the car until 2013, gave it to their grandson who had it only a few months. He didn't want it and decided to sell it to a gentleman that I bought it from, who only had it a couple months himself. He just bought it to flip and make a little money I believe. When I bought it a year ago (August 2013), it was still registered in the grandson's name (the second owner). Now, on to the description of this gorgeous vehicle. This Caprice Estate was never smoked in, was sparingly driven (as I said, it currently has less than 63,000 original miles), lovingly cared for and always garaged since new. Not only does it look virtually new, it drives like new! The original owner’s manual is still in the glove box. Included with the car is the original jack, jack instructions and a brand new full size spare tire. I have tons of receipts from the original owner validating the mileage which shows all the items done to the car over the years and very recently. More on that later. This 1984 Caprice Estate is now being made available to some very lucky bidder. The only reason I’m selling it is because I have my eye on another classic car I found. If it doesn't sell, I’m perfectly OK with hanging on to it. I'm in no hurry to sell it at all. I know what I have so I'm not willing to "give it away". This Caprice Estate was never hit and everything is in excellent factory original condition, including the paint and the "wood" decals. The car honestly looks like a two year old car. All the power windows and locks, lights, turn signals, horn, cruise control, gauges, wipers (and "squirters") and radio/cassette tape deck are in perfect working order. Remember that door buzzer/dinger when you inserted the key? Even THAT works perfectly! No electrical issues at all. The paint (which is 100% factory original, chrome bumpers (excellent original condition) chrome trim around the wheel wells, stainless trim and rubber trim are all in very good to excellent condition. Roof rack is in excellent condition. No rust or pitting anywhere on any chrome surfaces. This car handles beautifully and holds the road nice and straight at 40 MPH or 70 MPH. No pulling at all and is very tight and responsive. The car tracks straight when driving and braking. The brakes work beautifully with no issues at all. This Caprice rides on a new set of white wall all season radial tires mounted on the original factory wheels and original wire wheel covers to maintain its original factory look. The exterior is incredible! The ALL original cranberry color still shines like new! It has a few tiny nicks/blemishes here and there but from 3 feet away, they aren't noticeable. The floors and frame as well as under the hood and cargo area and wheel wells are all solid and rust free with no signs of rust or rot anywhere. Same for all the door jams and under the doors (see pictures). NO RUST ANYWHERE!! There is no way this car was ever driven in the winter. There is just some light surface rust underneath the car, typical for the age of the car. Nothing at all to worry about. All the glass is perfect. No chips or cracks anywhere. All the doors open and close effortlessly, just as new and all the door jams look new as well. NO RUST anywhere here. I JUST had the rear bumper fillers painted and installed professionally and really look incredible. Looks brand new again! The interior looks like it's a couple of years old and is 95% original! I had a new headliner and sun visors professionally installed ($750) using OEM matching color and material. Looks awesome! Nothing has been modified or “cut up” in any way. It looks exactly as it did back in 1984 and looks great. The upholstery, door panels, seat backs, carpet, headliner (no sagging, fading or rips), dash pad (no cracks or fading), chrome and stainless trim pieces are in excellent to near new condition. The rear cargo area pieces are in very good condition. Not perfect but very nice. This Caprice Estate is equipped with the original AM/FM stereo/cassette with front and rear speakers (which works perfectly), power steering, power brakes, electric clock (which actually works and keeps PERFECT time, cigar lighter (works great). The A/C blows cold with no issues (Still R12, not converted to R134). The heat works great with no issues. This Caprice has the original 305 V8 engine hooked to its original transmission with overdrive. Both perform as new. Absolutely no knocking, smoking or hesitation from the engine and the transmission shifts through the gears like a new car. No slippage at all. No leaks anywhere and no burning of any oil. It’s very smooth with no issues. I brought this car to the Woodward Dream Cruise (www.woodwarddreamcruise.com) last year and this year and “cruised” in 2 hours straight of bumper to bumper traffic just idling in 85 degree heat and the car didn’t miss a beat. No overheating and stayed in the “normal” temperature range the whole time.

This 1984 Caprice Estate has been lovingly cared for since new. This is a vehicle that anyone would be proud of and this car is wonderful to drive. It turns heads everywhere it goes. I get more looks for this car than any other classic car I have owned and I have had quite a few. It brings back so many memories for so many people. It took me YEARS to find this car in this condition. They simply don't exist anymore. I see no reason why the winning bidder couldn’t fly in and drive this vehicle home to anywhere in the country.
As everybody knows, nothing is perfect. The paint has a couple of tiny stone chips on the hood and the paint has some minor blemishes on the hood here and there but are hardly noticeable, unless you get right up on the car. There is one small ding on the right rear quarter panel which you really have to look for as well as a couple tiny dings on the hood. Again, it’s hardly noticeable and doesn't detract from the look of the car. The front door arm rests are starting to "lift" a bit as you can see in the pictures. The power antenna doesn't work anymore but radio and tape deck work perfectly as well as all the speakers. Terms of Sale: BIDS ARE BINDING. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK THEM PRIOR TO BIDDING. A $300 DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THE CLOSE OF BIDDING. I WILL ACCEPT PAYPAL FOR THE DEPOSIT ONLY (OR CASHIERS CHECK). THE REMAINING BALANCE IS DUE IN THE FORM OF A CASH OR BANK CHECK (NO WIRE TRANSFERS) WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE CLOSE OF BIDDING SO PLEASE HAVE YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER BEFORE YOU BID. ONCE THE CHECK CLEARS MY BANK, I WILL RELEASE IT FOR SHIPPING. THIS VEHICLE IS FOR SALE LOCALLY AS WELL SO I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THE BIDDING EARLY. NO SCAMMERS PLEASE! I HAVE BOUGHT AND SOLD MANY CARS ON EBAY IN THE PAST. I KNOW ALL THE TRICKS SO DON’T EVEN TRY! THE BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL SHIPPING CHARGES. I CAN RECOMMEND A FEW VERY GOOD, REASONABLY PRICED SHIPPING COMPANIES IF YOU WISH. I CAN TAKE ANY PHOTOS YOU WISH AND EMAIL THEM TO YOU. JUST LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE. I AM A VERY GOOD EBAYER AND DON’T WISH TO HAVE MY REPUTATION TARNISHED IN ANY WAY. I FEEL I HAVE DESCRIBED THIS VEHICLE AS HONESTLY AS I CAN TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE. China's rise, global restructuring wither GM's Korea division
Wed, Jan 7 2015An article in the Daily Kanban suggests the sun is setting on GM Korea, and it could already be well into dusk. GM Korea came about when General Motors, along with co-investors SAIC and Suzuki, bought Daewoo Motors from parent company Daewoo Group in 2001; it had a previous tie-up with GM, a joint venture that ended in 1992, although Daewoo cars were based on GM cars until 1996. Over the decade following the purchase, it became such an important part of operations that it was renamed GM Korea in 2011, "to reflect its heightened status in [the] global operations of GM." Just two years later, the printed rumors were that the subsidiary responsible for a fifth of Chevrolet's global production could be shutting down. The division's sales were down almost 21 percent through November of last year, counting domestic South Korean sales, exports, and CKD – Complete Knock Down – products. That makes the labor strife, already an issue for four years, even more acute, reports say the subsidiary will lose $36 million a year if it can't get the job and wage cuts it wants, and government concessions can't make up for the losses. And it gets worse, so head over to Daily Kanban to read the rest of the story.
This SEMA special drag race is absurdly awesome
Fri, Dec 5 2014The SEMA Show came and went last month, and it showed us a ton of heavily modded goodies to dream about during the long, cold winter. The Motor Trend Channel on YouTube is keeping the party rolling a little longer, though, with a drag race inspired by the aftermarket event. All of the hosts were supposed to borrow a vehicle from the show for the big race, but only two of them actually cajoled companies into lending their wares. Still, the result includes four very cool and extremely different examples of the breadth of the automotive hobby. First up, there's a 1955 Chevrolet with a 535-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) Hemi V8 stuffed under the hood. Appropriately, it's dubbed the Blasphemi, and with skinny tires up front, fat rubber in the rear and a stripped interior, this this is made to go very fast in a straight line. Next, there's a stock Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat boasting 707 horsepower. Plus, host Jessi Lang has her dog riding shotgun for the race. A Chevy Sonic RS with some body mods, downpipe and intake is also competing. Finally, the most bizarre of the quartet is a custom 1958 Jeep Forward Control with a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 and treads to replace the wheels. Obviously, the Blasphemi and Hellcat are the only two that really have a chance of winning, but check out the video to see which one crosses the finish line first. Before Chevrolet's Redline, there was the Saturn Red Line
Thu, Feb 9 2017While Chevy rolls out Redline special editions across more of the lineup at this year's Chicago Auto Show, we've been eating some 'member berries and started thinking about the last time GM used the term. Back in 2004, Saturn rolled out Red Line (two words) editions of the Ion and Vue. The lineup was joined by the Sky Red Line in 2007, and the second-generation Vue kept the tradition going in 2008. This was in the heady days of the mid-2000s, before the financial crisis and GM's bankruptcy reorganization that saw the end of Saturn. The press release headline for the 2008 Sky is now cringe-worthy: "Hot-selling Sky helps drive Saturn product renaissance." Performance lineups were the hot new thing, as automakers attempted to cash in on the tuner trend popularized by The Fast and the Furious. Chevy had SS models, Pontiac had GXP, and Saturn had Red Line. Across the Detroit Metro area, Dodge had a slew of SRT models, and Ford's Special Vehicle Team brought us the SVT Lightning pickup, the SVT Focus, and a smattering of hopped-up Mustangs. The performance cred of Red Line models varied from car to car. The Ion Red Line shared the same engine as the original Chevy Cobalt SS, a 205-horsepower supercharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 65 hp more than stock. Car and Driver tested one with a 0-to-60-mph time of 6.1 seconds and said the Ion "tears down the wall that has separated enthusiasts from the Saturn brand for so long." The Vue Red Line, meanwhile, came with the same optional Honda-sourced 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the regular Vue, and added a stiffer, lower suspension, bigger wheels with more aggressive rubber, and recalibrated steering assist. When the Vue was redesigned for the 2008 model year, the Vue Red Line was a similar proposition. The engine was now from GM, and up 7 horsepower to 257, but you could get it in both Red Line and XE trim. Aside from the tire and suspension upgrades, Red Line models now came with a unique front fascia and rear exhaust cutouts. The most exciting Red Line, of course, was the high-performance version of the Sky roadster, which shared underpinnings with its Pontiac Solstice twin. This model came with GM's hot 2.0-liter Ecotec Turbo, good for 260 horsepower. The extra power was crucial in covering up the Sky's unfortunate manual gearbox ratios, which left the non-turbo model aching for torque in lower gears. As we all know, Saturn was taken by the grim reaper in 2009 after an attempt to sell the brand to the Penske Group.
