Very clean, stout street rod, originally a 305 with 2.43's(!) in the puny 7.5" rear, couldn't even break 'em loose back in 2002 when I bought this spectacular car. Times have changed since I finished the project in March 2005! Don't let the pinstripes or whitewalls fool you, as I had a sleeper in mind from the very start. Except for the sound, this car is Grampa's old Impala, but will spank the vast majority of cars on the road today. I shaved about 300 pounds off bringing the curb weight down to 3850 with a full size spare in the trunk and 20 gallons of premium. Motor is a blueprinted (all specs:dial-in/cam degree, etc.) 355 engine, 4 bolt main, high nickel content block, ported 2.02"/1.60" camel hump heads, aluminum roller rockers w/ stud girdle, aluminum rocker covers, 650 cfm Chuck Nuuyten Holley 6150 carb., Performer RPM manifold, Comp Cams .224 dual pattern Magnum cam, forged crank, aluminum hypereutectic pistons and rods, double roller timing chain w/ alum. cover, high flow oil pump, 7 qt. oil pan, Hydroboost brake system, braided lines, 3.73 Richmond gears, 10 bolt 8.5" posi rear, TH350 w/valve body and B&M ratchet shifter and tranny cooler, new driveshaft, Hooker headers, 2.5" custom dual exhaust, Flowmaster mufflers, G-force crossmember, rally wheels, pwr. windows, doors, tilt wheel, tach., oil pressure and water temp. gauges, 6-way pwr. seat, rear defrost, everything works. Metallic camel paint, never any rust, car was Ziebarted at the factory in Ohio in 1979, ugly as all hell, but under that goop is the original BLACK paint, flawless vinyl top, this classic runs MINT. I have not had one issue with the engine since I turned the key in '05, but I have replaced most of the brake lines since then. Good luck!

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
Chevy Cruze CNG available from Crazy Diamond Performance
Thu, Aug 7 2014Anyone out there who can somehow find a second way to link Pink Floyd to natural gas vehicles gets a prize. Because so far, we have one Michigan-based company called Crazy Diamond Performance (Shine On You Crazy Diamond being a longtime Floyd fave) that's setting out to convert Chevrolet Cruze vehicles to run on compressed natural gas (CNG). All in the name of cheaper fuel and domestic security, of course. Crazy Diamond says it can offer a converted CNG-powered Chevy Cruze for a price as low as $26,000. That four-cylinder version has 130 horsepower and an 8.5-gasoline-gallon-equivalent capacity that provides a full-tank range of as many as 250 miles. Pony up another $2,000 or so and the peppier, turbocharged CNG Cruze can be yours. The company says it will provide a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and is trying to get EPA certification for its conversions. The selling points are cheaper fuel (CNG is about half the cost of regular gasoline in some parts of the country) and homeland security (CNG reduces dependence on foreign oil). The only production passenger vehicle CNG in the US is the Honda Civic CNG, which sells in very limited numbers. Check out Crazy Diamond's flyer here. Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors
Wed, Oct 22 2014Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz
