Im selling my 1975 caprice classic convertable because I am buying a new house and am getting married and all toys must go asap Ihave over $50,000 total invested in this car and it looks better than when it came off the show room floor. Ive added every option and all the toys n gadgets to this one and if was not for us moving n needing the cash to get in our new house trust me this car would not leave my side. Here are some of the things ive done to it, all tubular a-arms in front and all new moog suspention parts, new custom upper and lower grills in front, new hid lights with new lenses and also the orange halo headlights on all 4 lights ( plasma newest n brightest out),full custom lift but not to high because wanted to keep the 28" wheels tucked, new custom dual exaust, completely redone engine and painted it all back original and replaced all gaskets and components on engine (water pump, alternator, fuel pump, belts, hoses, radiator, cam and lifter set and plugs and wires all this year).also put 2000 stall converter in transmision and new front and rear main seals in motor and all trans seals were replaced as well as the trans pan gasket and filter.underneath of car looks as new as it did in 1975 and no rust anywhere on this car at ALL! Now for the good stuff. I put brand new 28" tires and rims on the car which were completely sandblasted all the way down to the bare metal and professionally painted black and orange to match the paint color of the car. I also replaced all body bushings, shocks, coil springs, and all brake shoes, brake pads, brake harwear, drums, rotors, wheel cylinders, all brake lines, and also all new gears (stock) in rear end as well as bump stops.REPLACED THE CHEAPER VINYL TOP WITH A BLACK CLOTH TOP because thought the vinyl one made car look cheap and i didnt build it to save money. I had entire car stripped down and proffetionally painted at josh and dads body shop in trotwood and paint color is called i believe candy orange glow ,it has beuitiful ghost stripes (graphics) going from front to back and everywhere there was a chrome emblem i took off and had the emblems painted on it in ghost graphics.I ALSO TOOK ALL THE INTERIOR OUT N HAD IT ALL REDONE ALL BLACK LEATHER WITH A SMALL ORANGE PINSTRIPE IN CENTER OF EACH SEAT TO ACCENT CAR AND ADD JUST A TOUCH OF COLOR TO THE INTERIOR AND IT ALSO HAS AN UPGRADED CUSTOM "ORANGE LED DIGITAL DASH". Interior also has all new side panels and new black carpet and a custom console built and wrapped in the same black leather as the seats ALSO HAS A CUSTOM ALL ALUMINUM BUILIT STEERING WHEEL and has a 2013 pioneer touchscreen double din tv in console with 2 cup holders built in it and also (2) 5 1/4 memphis mojo mids and highs located on the side of the custom console. There is also 2 custom made and wrapped kick panels under dash that were covered in same black material and also have (2) memphis mojo 5 1/4 speakers in them as well. then in rear seat i have 4 more memphis mojo speakers mounted in side panels close to arm rests 2 on each side and all 8 0f them are on memphis crossovers and were all profetionally installed by stereo indash in dayton, ohio and all 8 memphis mids and hight are ran on a massive 3 foot long memphis mojo 125x4 amplifier which will blow your ear drums. Now last but not least we have the trunk which has all new trunk seals as does the doors and the trunk was completely done by Xtreme auto sports ( Mike Frudenburg ) WHICH IS THE COLDEST FABRICATOR AND DESIGHNER AT MAKING ONE OF A KIND VEHICLES. The trunk is completely customized with the memphis 3000x1 sub amp and the memphis 125x4 highs amp mounted under custom made glass with orange led lights which light up the windows and theres a custom 4 foot piece of custom glass built into the top of the box and was sent out and had it profestioally etched and says "CAPRICE CLASIC" with the caprice emblem etched in between the two words and also has bright orange led lights which glow through the etching and looks amazing. The box is the size of the entire trunk and all wrapped in same black leather as the interior and is flawless, there was no short cuts or money being saved on this build its one of a kind and all led orange lights are on mercury switch so they are off while trunk is closed but as soon as you open trunk n the mercury ball moves it kicks on all the lighs. There is also a $800 dollar audio battery in the rear which a custom made steel box was made for it to sit in and is mounted inside box by quarter panel so you see nothing but the quality work and quality parts used to build this one of a kind car. THE CAR ALSO CAME WITH POWER WINDOWS AND IS AN A/C CAR AND IT WORKS AS IT SHOULD AND HEAT IS AMAZING.I am the second owner of the vehicle and it has always been garage kept . It does have a nice alarm on it as well ofcouse ( we do live in dayton ) lol... I know im missing a lot of things but theres so much done to it that its hard to remember but hope someone takes it off my hands and takes as good care of it as i have an at the price im asking im loosing over half of what i have in it have around $53-55,00 in it and thats not including hundreds of hours of my own time, but my loss is your gain and if you want to have the best car in dayton or dam near anywhere then heres your chance and at less than half the price.

GM invests $24 million to build more crew cab trucks in Fort Wayne

Thu, May 30 2019

The full-size pickup truck arms race continues unabated here in the United States as Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler battle back and forth for sales supremacy. The Ford F-Series of trucks continues to lead the field in sales (214,611 units sold through the first quarter of 2019), but the race for second place has been a lot more interesting to watch. That's because Ram, long a distant third in truck sales, eked its way past Chevrolet late in 2018 and has managed to hold the position so far in 2019. Don't take this to mean that sales of GM's trucks have been poor across the board. In fact, the automaker reports that sales of its four-door crew cab pickups are up 20 percent in 2019 over the same period a year ago. And that's what makes GM's announcement today so interesting. The automaker is investing $24 million into its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana to build more Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, and the focus will continue to be on crew cab models. "We are building Chevrolet and GMC crew cab pickups at record volume and mix levels to meet customer demand and the $24 million investment will allow us to build even more," said GM chief Mary Barra in a statement. "Crew cab sales have been very strong, and we are expanding customer choice with new models, more cab choices and innovative new powertrains." It's worth noting that, if crew cab sales are up 20% this year, but overall sales are down (over 15% for Silverado and around 2% for GMC), that means it's the cheaper regular cab and double cab models that are lagging. At the same time, sales of the midsize Chevy Colorado have surged 16%. And finally, if you combine sales of the Silverado and Sierra into one bucket, GM still has a comfortable lead over Ram overall. If there's a takeaway here, it's that trucks of all shapes and sizes have been, currently are and will surely remain hot in America, and automakers will continue to invest money into making sure they are able to satiate consumer demand.

Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans

Thu, Apr 30 2020

Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. Muscle sedans, take your pick: — Greg Migliore (@GregMigliore) April 14, 2020 Then and now enthusiasts felt the Impala was a more complete execution with guts. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.

Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout

Tue, Nov 25 2014

Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT.
