1971 Chevy Caprice - 396 Big Block on 2040-cars

US $11,800.00
Year:1971 Mileage:6609
Location:

The Chevrolet motor is a stock 396 big block with stock 4 barrel carb & about 300 miles on it. It does have the original air intake for the carb with it & extra parts. The intake, valve covers and fan are powder coated blue. The transmission has a small leak from the rear seal. Runs & drives fine. The A/C compressor & condenser still needs to be bolted on and charged up. I have the compressor, condenser and brackets. It had new carpet installed back around 2001 & the seats redone. It has power seats and power windows, all work. New quarter window seals installed, these are the vertical seals between the front & back side windows. It still needs new door & window seals. New trunk seal installed. Tail lights and working light have been refurbished, highly reflective metallic spray paint used to produce better lighting from within the housing. The plastic lenses were sanded with fine grit to remove oxidation then buffed out. Paint is about 5 years old and was painted using the original factory color. There is a scratch above the driver side door handle. The heat wave of summer 2011 took its toll on the vinyl roof. It would need new vinyl on the roof. The dash has a molded dash cover screwed in place. The plastic moldings that cover the beam between the front an rear doors inside the car are deteriorated at the top. The stitches on one row of the head liner are broken. The headliner is original but not torn, the threads holding the sections together are old. For serious inquiries, more pictures of the interior can be seen upon request.

The registration expired at the beginning of 2010. It runs good & would have no problem passing inspection. This would be a good project for someone to complete. I hate to see it just sitting.

I'm asking $11,800. Feel free to make an offer.

Car Club USA: Louisiana Mudfest

Tue, Jun 16 2015

There's nothing quite like mudding. Big tires, huge power, and crazy-wild gearheads that like to throw down on a mud pit almost as much as a thirty rack of Coors. In the latest, and some might argue greatest yet episode of Car Club USA, we head to Louisiana to throw some dirt at Mudfest. As Louisiana's one and only Mouth of the South puts it, "If you don't mud ride... go to Texas I guess." Joining The Mouth and friendly rivals The Most Hated Mud Sluts, we dive in. Beyond the obvious V8 blasting and tractor-tire spinning, those who know best describe Mudfest as, "Good cooking, good friends, good fun, and a lot of partying." It's a motorsport spectacle unlike any you're likely to find up North or out West, though no less impressive to behold. Follow along with the fun, the impromptu drag racing, the trash talking, and the mechanical madness. And find out why, at Mudfest, "if we don't tear it up, we ain't done it right." Each Car Club USA episode features a different car club or event from across the US, where passionate owner communities gather to share automotive experiences and embark on incredible adventures. From Main Street cruises to off-road trails, catch all the latest car club activity on Autoblog. Chevrolet Ford Jeep RAM Truck Off-Road Vehicles Car Club USA Videos autoblog black

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. Man surprises girlfriend with C7 Corvette

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

How would you react if someone just showed up at your place of work with a new, 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, complete with all the trimmings? While a lot of us would likely be flipping out over the still rare sports car, it's a fair bet many more of us would be responding like Pattie here, whose boyfriend stopped by her work to show her her new C7.
Speechless and shocked as she seems, she does end up taking it out for a drive, despite claiming she wasn't really outfitted to handle the car's seven-speed manual transmission at the time. From the sound of the video, we got the impression that she knew the car was coming, just not that it was anywhere near ready for delivery. It also, as Pattie says, seems like her boyfriend is more excited about the car than she (which, can we blame him?). Take a look down below for the full video of this C7 Stingray delivery.
