1968 Caprice Coupe, 96k, So Cal Black Plate Car. Zero Rust! Stored 23 Yrs. on 2040-cars
Vancouver, Washington, United States
I have a nice original survivor car from southern California. The car had been garaged since the fall of 1967 in the same garage for 45 years, one family owner. In 1990 the car was stored in that in that same garage til 2013 When I bought it. Between 1990 and 2002 the car had only been fired up and driven short distances to keep things lubed up... it only aquired 480 miles in that time frame.
1968 Chevy Caprice Coupe. 96,600 original miles. 275HP 327, TH400, Power steering, RARE power disc brakes, power windows, seat, trunk, working air conditioning, and cruise control, it has the special lighting group, and a AM/FM Multiplex Radio with front and rear speakers. As with most cars that sit, it does present a few challenges, so I have replaced, the oil pressure switch, waterpump, heater hoses, belts, rebuilt the carb, tuned it, serviced the transmission and rear end, replaced, master cylinder, front calipers, front brakes (I have an extra NEW set btw, they are hard to find) rebuilt the rear wheel cylinders and replaced the rear brake shoes, replaced the shocks with monroe gas units, had an alignment, added a larger diameter front and rear sway bar, replaced the rear coild springs to get rid of the sag that they all have, I replaced the tires with 5 new P225/7015 Cooper Cobra tires. and added 2.5" dual exhaust from exhaust manifolds back with flow master mufflers. It still has all the T-3 headlights. Everything works as it should with the exception of the clock, and the radio. The radio turns on but cant get it to tune in. I Drove it back from Southern California to Washington state with no issues and have put nearly 11000 miles on it since August traveling around to car shows ect......Its a turn key car. Fly in and drive it home. I have the original hubcaps, owners manual, window sticker, AM/FM Multiplex radio user instructions, keys, Black cali plates, and the factory gas cap was wrapped in a towel in the trunk. The large plastic front and rear floor mats from the 60s are still in the car as well and has protected the carpet nicely. BTW I lifted the reserve...its open for bids.... NOTE: I DO HAVE THE CAR LISTED LOCALLY...I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PULL AD AT ANYTIME IF SOLD LOCALLY ON CL! |

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out
Thu, 29 Apr 2010Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.
Dodge vs. Chevy tug-of-war taken to the extreme
Mon, 17 Dec 2012They say "idle hands are the devil's playground," but said playgrounds grow to Disney-sized proportions when a pair of jacked-up trucks, two egos, a chain and an empty mall parking lot are involved. Proof of this is the video below, which shows a Cummins-powered Dodge Ram circa 2006 to 2008 chained tail-to-tail with what looks to be a gasoline-powered Chevrolet Silverado from the late 1990s or early 2000s.
We don't necessarily have to tell you who wins this battle, but we'll let you see for yourself the lengths the "winning" driver goes to prove his point. There's plenty of foul language in the video below, so beware that this might be Not Safe For Work, and not that we should have to tell you, but please, do not try this at home.
Recharge Wrap-up: Tesla sells Model S 85 and 70D in Malaysia, Chevy Spark EV built using clean energy
Mon, May 18 2015Tesla will send Model S 70D and Model S 85 EVs to Malaysia for leasing to government-linked companies. Only those companies will have access to the models as a two-year lease, which will be imported and leased by Malaysian Green Technology Corporation. The plan is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water to allow government officials and other influential people to get to know the electric vehicles and the benefits that come along with them. Most of the 120 vehicles available will be the 70D model, and the lessee companies will have the option to purchase the cars at the end of the two years. Read more from Paul Tan's Automotive News. Wanxiang is hosting students from Delaware in China as part of a program to learn Mandarin and visit schools and science and technology sites. Wanxiang, the auto parts company that acquired Fisker (which had manufacturing based in Delaware) and battery maker A123 Systems, will give the students tours of its solar technology facilities, among other places, and see what daily life is like for families in the region. The program helps students interested in science and technology to foster marketable skills — like learning a foreign language — that will help them get jobs in industries around the world. The e-motors building of the General Motors Baltimore Operations complex has a new rooftop solar array and uses LED and CFL lighting, helping the building recently earn LEED Silver certification. The landfill-free facility also takes advantage of the 1.23-megawatt solar array on the grounds, helping it source six percent its energy from renewable sources. The plant has reduced its energy intensity by 15.5 percent in three years, and continues to work toward reducing consumption and sourcing clean energy. "We believe reducing our environmental footprint is good for the climate and good for our business," says GM Executive Director of Global Public Policy Greg Martin.
