"1966 IMPALA 2 DOOR COUPE AT NO RESERVE READY FOR SOME TLC"

I have been given the opportunity to sell this little gem by the current owner who received the car in a trade just recently. The condition of the car is based on a test drive and visual inspection of the vehicle by me and the little bit of info I could get from the current owner. The car comes with a bill of sale only, Alabama does not issue titles on vehicles older than 1976.

The car is has a period correct 327ci V8 that starts quick and runs very well with no noises, ticks or rattles. The oil and filter have been changed within last 2 weeks and no oil, water or trans leaks were detected.  Neither I or the current owner know if it is the original drive train in the car and we don't know what the mileage is. The odometer reads 22486. The turbo 350 3sp automatic shifts smooth and has no slippage or hesitation, the fluid is clean and pink.

The Impala drives just like a 1966 vehicle should and goes down the road fairly strait and true. I did not inspect the underside of the car on a lift but the suspension worked well and I didn't hear or feel any noises or squeaks. The brakes are a little touchy due to having drums on all four corners that could use some adjusting but the car stopped correctly and strait.

The body is where we have some work to do. For the most part it is strait and sports a maroon metal flake paint job that looks as if it was done on the cheap. The body work, if you can call it that was done very quickly with the use of lots of bondo in the area between the back glass and the trunk. I have provided pictures of the area affected. The rest of the car looks to be solid and has no areas of rust that I could see and the frame is solid as well. The bumpers are in very good condition.

The interior is pretty spartan and in need of the carpet, headliner, sail panels, window cranks and arm rests. The door panels are home made and the seats looks to be possibly original but the front one needs recovering. The floor pans as you can see in the pictures are starting to rust thru with some dime or smaller size holes. The trunk is not as bad and the rust is isolated to the corners. Most of the interior trim is in the trunk but I haven't done an inventory to see what might be missing. The gauges and dash are complete but the speedo does not work and I don't know if any of the idiot lights work either. There is a temp gauge under the dash that works and it didn't go above 190 on the test drive. The current owner has installed a new gas tank within the last 2 weeks and the fuel gauge does work. The headlights, turn signals and running lights all work as they should.

Overall this Impala is in average to above average condition given its age and the fact that it is still a running and driving vehicle. It doesn't appear to have any leaks or major issues and can be driven as is. The car is in need of a new home and owner that will give it some love and attention. The 2dr coupes are getting harder to find and I just know there is someone out there that has a desire to be able to drive this little project and work on it at the same time. Think about the potential of this Impala, rat rod or hot rod a little imagination is all it takes.

The Impala is being sold with no warranties written or implied and all sales are as is where is but, If for any reason you as the buyer feel that I have deceived you in any way in this description. Upon delivery by myself or you picking the vehicle up. I will refund your deposit minus any fuel cost and we will go our ways with no questions asked.

I can deliver the Impala anywhere in the lower 48 states for $1.25 per loaded mile on an open trailer and $1.50 per loaded mile in enclosed. Please fell free to ask questions or request more pictures. I am also interested in trades and open to cash offers. Bid to win and good luck.

Take a close look at the guts of the Chevy Volt battery, powertrain

Sat, Aug 9 2014

Just how intimate would you like to get with the powertrain in a Chevy Volt? If you're anything like YouTube user d55guy, then spending a half hour filming yourself taking apart the battery pack, motor, inverter and more for a look inside sounds like your idea of fun. After all, this way you get to see the cooling system, the heavy safety kill switch and count up the individual cells in the battery modules. Fun! Turns out, we also enjoy languidly paced Volt dissection video goodness, and we think you might want to see it as well. So, we've embedded two videos below and if you don't have a better understanding of how the Volt is put together after watching them, well, at least you can't say we never tried to show you anything. Given that what's really happening here is the organized 'destruction' of an expensive and potentially dangerous object, let's talk safety. There's a serious disclaimer at the beginning of the videos and on the YouTube description page, but we feel the need to repeat the gist of it here: do not try this at home. The creator of the video says he is a trained engineer and has been doing things like this "for the better part of a decade," so he apparently knows what he's doing. With that in mind, watch it all below. When you're done seeing the insides of a Volt powertrain up close, if you need more filmed EV dissection/destruction, check out this video designed for first responders approaching a damaged Tesla Model S. GM removes start/stop from full-size trucks and SUVs with V8 engines

Mon, Jun 14 2021

GM is removing start/stop technology from a number of its popular full-size SUVs due to the ongoing chip shortage. This follows the removal of cylinder deactivation technology from some of its trucks, which was also due to the chip shortage. GM Authority first reported the news, but we’ve just confirmed everything with a GM spokesperson.  The following 2021 model year vehicles will be affected: Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500. Only versions of those vehicles built with the 5.3-liter V8 or 6.2-liter V8 and mated to the 10-speed automatic will have the tech removed from them. Only vehicles manufactured on or after June 7 will be affected. “By taking this measure, it will enable us to continue production of our high-demand full-size SUV and pickups as the industry continues to rebound and strengthen,” GM said in a statement. Those who ultimately buy one of these vehicles without start/stop technology will receive a $50 discount off MSRP for their troubles. Losing this fuel-saving tech could be a big negative for some, but we know many folks turn it off anyway. Not having to press the button to deactivate start/stop every time could actually be a positive if youÂ’re part of the camp who does that already. 2021 Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum View 27 Photos On the downside, GM says “most of the affected vehicles will experience a minor reduction in fuel economy.” We donÂ’t have revised window stickers in hand to know how each model will be affected, but any 1 mpg reduction will be rather impactful for vehicles rated as low as these trucks already are. Any reduction will be seen in the city mpg rating, so take the kind of driving youÂ’re going to be doing into account before purchasing. When it comes to greenhouse gas compliance rules, GM says it doesnÂ’t foresee this impacting the companyÂ’s average fleet score. It also intends to begin adding start/stop back to these models as soon as possible, but there will be no retrofit effort made to fit the tech to vehicles already built without it. “Our supply chain organization continues to make strides working with our supply base to mitigate the near-term impacts of the semiconductor situation,” GMÂ’s statement reads. “GM continues to leverage every available semiconductor to build and ship our most popular and in-demand products, including our highly profitable full-size trucks and SUVs for our customers.

These are the five most ridiculous attacks on the Chevy Volt [w/videos]

Thu, Aug 7 2014

It's been a long, strange trip for the Chevy Volt from the time when the now-odd-looking concept version (above) was introduced at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show to today. And now, General Motors announced that the second-generation Chevy Volt will make an appearance at the 2015 Detroit show in January. This debut represents a victory for GM with what has easily become the most politicized car of the 21st Century. There are plenty of reasons for someone to criticize the Volt, but what's amazing is just how much anti-Volt energy has been spent not on things like the styling or how the EREV setup is not as efficient as a pure-EV powertrain. As we wait for more official information on the new Volt, we thought it would be fun to go back and look at some of the most wildly incorrect reporting and strangest attacks on the Volt from the archives. There is so much good stuff out there, it was hard to pare the list down, but these are our five favorites. Amazingly, they're not all clips from Fox News. Check 'em out below. 5. GM Is Going To Stop Making The Chevy Volt In The US Do you remember when GM was about to move Volt production to China? Well, yeah, this was reported back in early 2012 when a GM executive mentioned that the automaker would get benefits of building the Volt in the places where it sells them. This was spun into a story of GM taking Obama bailout money and then running to China. The Blaze was not happy: "Given the fact that Federal government helped itself to millions and millions of taxpayer dollars under the pretense that it was going to combat high unemployment by creating 'green jobs,' it would seem that moving research and development (and possibly manufacturing) overseas is slightly, well, counterproductive." Well, of course, that never happened. There's no way to say that GM will never build a version of the Volt in China, but the news we hear rumors of these days is that GM is going to move production of more Volt parts (specifically, the motors) to Michigan from overseas. 4. The Chevy Volt Is A Fire Trap There has never been a Volt that just spontaneously lit up while driving down the road. Yes, there were Volts that caught on fire. Yes, that's a scary thing. But there has never been a Volt that just spontaneously lit up while driving down the road. These were crashed test vehicles with destroyed batteries and plugged-in vehicles that were not the cause.
