You have always wanted to “Step Back in Time” and Order “Your” ZL-1 or Yenko, COPO,  or Baldwin Motion Camaro.

"Now You Can!!!"...I can Build them Better, Stronger, Faster and they Run on Pump Gas...Plus Street able!

Technology has come alone way since 1969.

I have also built some ZL-1's,  COPO's and Yenko's for guys that have given up on their search for their Original COPO Camaro.

Or if they found their “Original COPO” the New owner wants $450.000.00 for these Rare Camaro's.

They now just send me their Original Pictures of their COPO or Yenko and I Build it...but now they are Better...Stronger...Faster.

I do use ZL-1 all Aluminium 427 Engines or 1969 Dated Cast Iron 427 Motors for the Yenkos.

If you have Your “Dream Camaro”Stuck in Your Head...I can Build it.

The Muscle Cars did "Real Good" at Barrett-Jackson and Mecum Auction this weekend. Barrett Prices were Very High!!!

Proving Muscle Cars are Still “Great Investments” and you can also have Fun with them. :)

A 1969 Black and Gold RS ZL-1 Camaro like I build, bid to $80,000.00 and the Owner would not lift his Reserve.

A Real 1969 ZL-1 sold for $400.000.00

A 1967 Yenko sold for $275,000.00     I have Built a lot of 1967 thru 1969 Yenko Replicas.

The Owner of Mecum Auctions does have one of my Camaro's in his Collection

“Hot Rod TV” did a 30 minute Interview with me on Saturday for their TV Show

They Filmed myself and my 1969 Black and Gold ZL-1 Camaro.

They also Filmed some Rare ZL-1 Camaro Documents and some ZL-1 Blue Prints I have.

Please see the Pictures of the “Camera Crew” and myself with the Producer next to me.

When I talked to the Producer he said the Show will be seen on TV in May and also in July.

I am also in the June and July issue of Hot Rod Magazine.

They Latter did a Commercial with me and my 1969 ZL-1 Camaro for Lincoln College Technology.
Lincoln is a Sponsor for Hot Rod TV and the Commercials will be shown in Colorado.

These are Pictures of the Famous Fred Gibb, Dick Harrell 1969 ZL-1 Camaro Race Car.

It was the Very First ZL-1 delivered to Fred Gibb Chevrolet in 1969 and then turned into this Race Car.

It beat the Famous "Sox & Martin Hemi Cuda" that had Dominated the Race Circuit!

The Fred Gibb ZL-1 also set a record of 9.63 seconds at 143 mph and also Won the Pro Stock World Championship.

Fred Gibb had to order 50 ZL-1s to be built to Qualify the Camaro to Race in NHRA.

There was always a Mystery about the ZL-1 Camaros. Not much Information was known.

In 1981 were it not for the Curiosity of "Bill Porterfield" and his Persistence in Finding Information on the 1969 ZL-1 Camaros...I believe the ZL-1 Camaro would have been Lost in History.

Bill Porterfield Contacted Key people from Vince Piggins at Chevrolet, to Fred Gibb Dealership that ordered the first 50 ZL-1 Camaro's.

Fred Gibb was key in Creating the ZL-1 Camaro!!!  He knew a lot of information on these Special Camaro's.

Bill has acquired a Substantial amount of Engineering Documents concerning these Camaros and the ZL-1 Aluminum 427 engine's.

Bill Porterfield is also Credited for Finding a lot of Chevy Documents and Information from Chevy on these Rare 1969 ZL-1 Camaros.

The Public did not know much on these Rare ZL-1 427 Muscle Cars.

I got these Pictures for my Birthday from Bill Porterfield who owned this Very Special 69 ZL-1 Camaro Race Car.

A ZL-1 427 Camaro is like owning a "Z28  that is on Steroids"!!!

These cars are "Scary Fast" and if all that Power does not put a "Smile on Your Face" then you are Obviously Dead. :)

My Motors are from the Original ZL-1 tooling that was found in 1997

I have close to $20,000.00 in (My Special all Aluminum ZL-1 427 Engines) and my motors have Incredible Horse Power and Torque.

539 Pounds of Torque at 2700 RPM    Can be Street Driven (Runs on Pump Gas) with an average Temp of 185 on the gauge. :)

I do respect that it is a Real ZL-1 but how many people do you know who can afford it??

That is why I Build these Replicas…People Can Afford my ZL-1s and not have to Higher an Armed Guard to Watch over it. :)

These Camaros were made to be Driven, also taken to Car Shows and to bring back Your Younger Days of Cruising!!!

Not Stuck in a Collection Gathering Dust.

This Rare Muscle Car in this Auction is being built as a Correct Replica of a 1969 ZL-1 Camaro.

It will be as Close as you can Get to a Real ZL-1 with out Spending “$1 Million Dollars” for an Original 1969 ZL-1 Camaro.

Put this ZL-1 Replica Side by Side of an Original and it would be Hard to Tell the Difference. (Except My ZL-1 has More Horse Power and Torque)… and it will be more "Streetable"!

I have shown Pictures of past ZL-1 Camaros I have Built, so you can see the Detail I take in doing a Paint Job and building a Camaro the Correct Way.

I Supply a "Real 1969 Camaro" and I Build it the way "You" would have Ordered a “Muscle Car” from GM Yourself in 1969.

(You Have Always Wanted to Go “Back In Time” and Order a ZL-1 Camaro the way “You Wanted it.”)..... (Now You Can)!!! :)

Primary Purpose of the ZL-1 427 Engine was to provide an All Out Race Motor to the General Public, with a Significant Weight Reduction compared to an All Iron 427 Motor.

The ZL-1 also had (Aluminum Heads and Intake) compared to Iron Heads and Intake.

So you can see that the "Weight Savings" was not just in the Block Alone.

Remember in the Race World, Every 2 Pounds Saved is like (Gaining 1 in Horse Power.)

The ZL-1 Aluminum Big Blocks Weight was the same as a "1969 Z28" Small Block, so the ZL-1 would Corner and Brake like a 1969 Z28.

The 1969 Z28 Dominated SCCA Racing that Year and Won the Title for 1968 and 1969.

Most of that had to do with the way the 1969 Z28 could Corner and Brake.

Your Normal Big Block Camaro was "Front End Heavy" for Cornering and Did Not Stop as well as the 1969 Z28 Camaro.

The ZL-1 Engine was a By-Product of Can–Am Racing Technology.

The ZL-1 Camaro Represented the "Best" of Chevrolets Research and Development.

For Years a Cloud of Secrecy and Lack of knowledge has surrounded these Incredible Muscle Cars.

The ZL-1 Camaro is the “Ultimate Factory Muscle Car” to come out of Chevrolet.

For Chevrolet Motor Division, the ZL-1 Camaro was their "Crown Jewel."

Even though Chevrolet was not in the business of Building Race Cars, (these ZL-1’s are the Epitome of Chevy’s Factory Race Cars.)

The Block is a new ZL-1 427 Block made from the (Original) ZL-1 Molds.

The Original 1969 ZL-1 Mold was found in 1997 buy a Chevrolet Engineer when the Winters Foundry was getting rid of Molds they were not using any more.

He then Pushed Chevy to make these ZL-1 427 engines again in "Limited Quantities."

This Same Engineer did the "Up Dating" on the New ZL-1 Blocks.

I have talked to this now Retired Engineer (Very Nice guy to talk to) and thanked him for bringing back these "Legendary ZL-1 427 Motors."

This Block will be a [Collectors Item] because of the “Limited” Quantities Made.

These new ZL-1 Blocks have "Today’s Technology in Aluminum" and the Oil and Water passages have been Increased in Size for Better Oiling and Cooling.

These new ZL-1 blocks are  "By Far a Superior Block"  than the 1969 ZL-1 Blocks.

The 1969 ZL-1 Motor had the Largest Factory Holley Carburetor 850 cfm installed on a Production Chevrolet. List# 4296

The Correct Holley 850 cfm Carburetor List #4296 will be used.

The Intake is the Correct 3933198 and has (TR) Washer Style Bolts.

The Heads are the Correct #3946074. The Correct Dot Rods will be used.

Correct Exhaust Manifolds, Light Weight GM Fly Wheel, (Lets the Motor Rap Quicker) Correct Bell Housing, Correct Deep Grove Pulleys, Correct 8 Inch Balancer, Correct Dated Spark Plug Wires, Correct GM Hoses with Part Numbers, Correct Tower Clamps, Correct Spring Ring Battery Cables, Correct Curved Neck Radiator, Etc, Etc

The Engine will be a Complete Rebuild and Balanced at a High End Shop that does a lot of the Race Cars for Colorado.

Break-in on the ZL-1 427 Motor will be done on a Dyno. I will have Dyno sheets.

The Motor will be over 500 hp “Depending on what Cam You want” also Tons of Torque and will be Very Street Able.

The Camaro will be taken down to a Bare Shell and Professionally Plastic Media Blasted by one of the Best Shops in Denver.

It will be Media Blasted Top to Bottom, Out Side to Inside, Including: Firewall, Floor Pans, Trunk Pans, Dash, Sub frame Rear Frame Rails. (See Pictures)

I can also make this a Vinyl Top car. Your Choice.

COPO ZL-1's have no Stripes and a Vinyl Top Camaro helps break up the Colors.

I built a Hugger Orange RS ZL-1 Replica and it was just too much Orange.

Once I added the Black Vinyl Top, the Camaro Looked So Much Better.

Two “Special” ZL-1s  were made for the "Show Car Circuit" to help Chevrolet Sales in 1969.

They were Black with Gold Z28 Strips.

These “Special" ZL-1 Camaros had ZL-1 Emblems on the Front Grille, Rear Tail Light Panel and Hood to Promote the ZL-1 427 Motors.

I have had the ZL-1 Emblems Reproduced for this Replica I am Building.

These Emblems are Reproduced (At High Expense) to the Specs of the Two Show Cars off of Old 1969 Photos and Blue Prints.

A Lot of Research was done to make these Emblems as Close as Possible. I have the GM Blue Prints Dated 1969 for the ZL-1 Emblems.

I Will Not make any of these Emblems for sale .....so Don’t Ask.

I have been Playing with and Restoring Camaros for 29 Years.

My Name, Camaro and my Documents are in the Jerry MacNeish Book “The Definitive 1969 Camaro Fact Book“ and John Hoopers Book “The 1969 Camaro Reference Book.

My Name is also on Wayne Guinns Web Site for Finding Prototype ZL-1 Blocks and Prototype Cross Rams and I will also be in his updated Book “Camaro Untold Secrets.”

My Price will Beat Any Barrett-Jackson Prices and NO Commissions.

I also Start Out with a Nice Real 1969 Camaro Body so you know what you are getting.

"I Will Build The Muscle Car of Your Dreams".

For the guys who like Pro Street or a Ride Like the 2010 Camaros, I can use a Chris Alston Sub frame that just “bolts in” (Please see Pictures of subframe and ZL-1 Motor.)

This ZL-1 Camaro will be a Muscle Car you will be Proud to Pass Down to your Son or Daughter. My Camaro’s are Built to Last!

These Muscle Cars are "Better than any Stocks in Value or 401Ks"  and you Can Take Them Out and "Play" With Them!

There is no Better way to "Relive your Youth" than by Driving a 1969 Camaro from your Younger Days.

Car Shows are now more for the "Family" and it is also the best way to meet New Car Guys.

Plus you will Always get the Thumbs Up by everybody when you are Cruising in Your New Dream Camaro!!!

Q: i noticed a green one you have pictured. its very nice :) im not sure what has been done to it but how much would something like that cost me?Jan-08-14
A: The Green Camaro was a Pro-Touring Camaro. So way to much was done to that Camaro. Plus a 572-720hp GM Crate Motor That Camaro would go Side-Ways at 60 MPH.   Call my cell and we will talk Price.
Q: I am very interested in purchasing a Camaro similar to the one on the model on the left of your ad the ZL1. this is the exact color combo I desire the interior options we can discuss. Let me know a ballpark of this car and one like it with a regular big block that you use. A ZL1 motor may be a little out of my price range but we will see. let me know how we can hook up or I can give you my Cell if you like.   Billy   Okla City Jan-08-14
A: Hello Send me your cell or you can call mine and we can talk Options and Price.  Spencer 303-808-9096
Q: Just a comment. last year I visited your shop and appreciated the time you took to show me around the several builds you had going on, introduced me to your mechanic and then showed me a new ZL1 block. I liked your original equipment mentality and the flexibility to add and take away as a customer would like. When they are around the ZL1 is always one of the highlights at shows because there are so few of them. Hopefully, one of these days I'll call and put in my order for a dark green, bug eyed, heater/radio delete, hooker super comp, M22, traction master 10 second machine. Keep up the good work.Jan-08-14
A: Hello again and Thanks. It seems that Everybody has their "Dream Muscle Car" stuck in their Head and I Love making that Dream Come True. :)  And then Test Driving it also. :)  Just give me a call when you are ready.
Q: Really enjoyed reading about your shop and operation. Your camaro's sound 2nd to none.   It is great there are people like you who keep interest of these cars in the hobby in the forefront for next generation...hell the 69 camaro body style was decades ahead of it's time anyway.  just wanted to say how I admired your work and business. I have a job I truely hate to go to each and every day...to me your job is like winning the lottery...I realize you work hard and have rough days but it is still in the realm of what you love to do. Best wishes to you and your crew for 2014!  Chris GarrettJan-07-14
A: Thanks for your Nice Comments. :)  We do Love our Jobs at my Shop and it Shows in our work.  If you Love your Job...You will take Pride in it and do it Correctly because it is your Name that goes into building each Camaro. Best Wishes for you also for 2014 And if I did Win the Lottery.....I would still be Building Camaro's. :)

Q: Is the ZL-1 Built?  Can I visit your shop to see your work before committing to build? Sep-28-13
A: Good Morning. They are Built to Customers Specs. Yes you can come to my shop to see the Camaros already in process of there build. I have from "Bare Metal Bodies" to Ready to Ship Running Camaros. 98 percent of the people that "Fly in"...have bought one of my Camaros. The other 2 percent...the Wives said no. lol

Q: good afternoon. the ZL1's can be equipped with 4 wheel disc to stop this monster correct? also can the 4 speed be upgraded to the M22 rockcrusher? Given the fact that Le Mans blue with either white or black interior suits the ladies what exterior emblems are the most pleasing 427 at fron quarter panels with SS emblems elseware? i know you are asked these question many times but obviously if a person is "hand picking" out everything these are question i have. i know you are busy. Thank,s for your time. By the way i owned a 69 Z lemans blue/white interior and yes the ladies loved it. i can't imagine what a 69 with a ZL1 would feel like thank's steve Mar-06-13
A: Good Morning Yes I can do Four Wheel Disc Brakes. I can also do M-22 4-Speed Trans. I prefer the ZL-1 Emblems on the Camaro so people know you have a "Ultra Rare all Aluminum 427" under the hood. I do Like LeMans Blue Paint Best on a ZL-1 Camaro. :)

                                                 Questions and Answers

Q: I guess this is more of a comment than anything. I've seen a lot of your builds and I absolutely love the Black ZL-1 with the Gold stripes. Dec-23-12
A: Thanks I do also, but.... Black is just so hard to keep clean. My other Favorite color is LeMans Blue. Beautiful Color and Easy to keep clean. Plus Women "Love" LeMans Blue. Like we all Know...If the Wife’s Not Happy...Nobody's Happy. lol
Q: do you upgrade the chasis and suspension, relative to the orginials, on the ZL1s you build. thanks richard Dec-23-12
A: Yes the parts we use are Better than what was in Original. Plus the Shocks I use are a lot Better than in 1969. This make for a Better and Smother Ride with no rattles. Plus Cornering and Braking is a lot Better. :)  We also do Custom Suspension's.
Q: What's the chances of you being able to build a convertible ZL-1 Camaro?
A: There has been talk that Chevy did build a "ZL-1 Camaro Convertible". It was for a Engineer that worked on the ZL-1 Project in 1969. So Yes I would build a ZL-1 Convertible...That would be a Cool Camaro Build. :)

Q:

Spencer, this is by far the coolest information I have read for a long time. What I am interested in is the Blue car you built with the "dealer" stripes. As I understand there was a car like this a 1969 RS ZL-1 Blue/white vinyl top sent/sold to Canada. Do you know if the car you replicated is that car? I also see a very beautiful one with the odd stripes for sale in Texas. Is this the car you built? Thank you for the awesome detail and information about these special cars.

Aug-22-12
A:  Hello and Thanks.  Yes I built the Blue ZL-1 Camaro with Dealer Stripes off of the Specs of the Original. That is a Unique ZL-1 and they have Brochures and ERTL models of that ZL-1 for sale on E-Bay. The ZL-1 I built is the one in Texas. That was a One Owner Camaro I used to Replicate that Very Special ZL-1 Camaro. I started with a Real Nice Body on that Camaro. That Camaro is one of my “Favorite ZL-1s” that I have Built. :)

Q:  How far are you from Denver? Do you have any cars in your shop that I can see? I have a trip planned to Denver. Thanks Larry
A:  Hello Larry I am about 30 minutes out of Denver. I have 3 ZL-1s, and 2 Big Block Convertibles, and 1 1970 Camaro Anniversary 427 ZL-1 you can look at when you Come to the Shop. Just call me with a date you will be at my Shop.

Q:

hi, how much would lets say, the blue one cost to build? same way but black, red interior, no stripes?? ZL1, ??

A:  Hello.  I built a Black Yenko with Red Yenko Stripes and Red Interior. That Yenko at Car Shows always Drew a Large Crowd! Stunning Color Combination.  Just call me for prices.

Here's how Detroit is selling more luxury vehicles than Germany and Japan

Sun, Dec 14 2014

Now there's an attention-grabbing headline, eh? Although the answer to the riddle - pickup trucks and SUVs - might be somehow deflating, the numbers involved deserve a going over. According to TrueCar's figures (click on the table to enlarge), six of the year's ten best-selling vehicles in the US that sell for a transaction price above $50,000 are body-on-frame, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the only foreigner to crack the top five. Every enthusiast knows that pickup trucks are 'Murica's most popular vehicle by a colossal margin, and there have been plenty of reports about the popularity of luxuriously appointed trucks and SUVs, but compare these figures from TrueCar: 70 percent of Chevrolet Tahoe sales have a transaction price above $50K, and The Bowtie is expected to make $3.9 billion in revenue on 66,945 predicted high-dollar sales; 95.1 percent of E-Class sales break $50K, so the German company will make $4.0 billion on 67,006 predicted sales in that pricing sphere. It's about the only time you'll see the Tahoe ranked right next to Mercedes' bread-and-butter sedan. Ram is ahead of those two with $4.2B coming from $50K-plus sales. The Ford F-Series does almost as much revenue as the next three combined, with an expected $10.8 billion coming from sales of trucks over $50K - more than a quarter of the model's total sales, when a base F-150 can be had for about $26,000. Yes, the Germans make a lot more money on fewer sales, but considering the comparison, the bottom line isn't too troubled by such facts. Weighing like-for-like, the full-size Ford walks it in every category; elsewhere, the Chevrolet Silverado outsells the Ram, but the Ram outsells the Chevy by 6.7 percent above $50K. And for all the flak GMC takes over swapping out grilles, the Sierra also outsells the Chevy in the well-appointed segment, 16.1 percent of sales versus 11 percent – the Professional Grade brand is a huge profit center for The General. GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

GM tinkering with Silverado, Sierra model mix amidst strong early sales

Mon, 04 Nov 2013

Variety, as they say, is the spice of life. That's a lesson that is currently being taught to General Motors, because despite a strong showing from its 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the General's pickup sales still can't best those of cross-town rival Ford.
With 59,163 trucks moved, GM fell just over 1,000 units short of toppling Ford, and one of the main reasons for that, according to GM's chief sales analyst, was due to a lack of variety in the engines and body styles available on dealer lots. "We are still over-weighted toward crew-cab V8 trucks. Our light-duty mix will moderate over time as our launch progresses," said Kurt McNeil.
Loading dealers with the popular combination of the 5.3-liter V8 and the four-door, Crew Cab body style was intentional during the truck's launch, but as supplies of leftover 2013 models, which are being sold at heavy incentives, are beginning to wane, both budget-conscious and high-dollar buyers are looking elsewhere instead of at the volume model pickups.
