Up for auction is a 2013 Chevrolet Camaro SS with just over 12,000 miles on the clock, loaded from the factory with all options except the illuminated cup holders and the full aero kit. I bought this car new and had to order it from the factory as no other car existed to this spec on a lot in the US. It's a 2SS with the RS package, which included the different wheels, body color body fittings, etc.
It's been very well taken care of and has never been through a mechanical car wash, so has been kept clean and polished by hand. It's got a few goodies from the factory: I have all the books, keys, and window sticker.

  • Factory rear wing
  • Factory navigation, satellite radio, touch screen unit.
  • Factory Hurst shifter
  • Factory dual mode exhaust with the active valves (great sound!)
  • Factory strut brace
  • The Inferno Orange optional paint
  • Factory optional Camaro floor mats (the supplied ones are in the trunk still, never used, or moved from new)
  • Factory trunk cargo net (very useful!)
  • Factory four gauge cluster for transmission temp, oil temp, battery charge and oil pressure plus heads-up display
  • Fiber optic door lighting - subtle and very nice looking at night
  • Xenon headlights with ghost ring running lights
  • Only modification to the engine was the  swap to a K&N filter from day one, and the original is included if you prefer the factory paper one.
  • Adjustable heads up display showing NAV, RPM, speed heading etc. used more than your dash clocks when driving.

It has just had its third dealer oil change and comes with the original factory warranty. The interior is as new condition. I don't smoke so it doesn't stink. The back seat has never been used.
Original P-Zero tires, nitrogen filled and have not been adjusted from new as the tire pressure sensors are still reading perfect pressures all round.
Driving use: it's been driven by a middle aged man (me) with great mechanical sympathy, not thrashed, although yes, I've put my foot down a few times for the enormous grin factor this car provides. With the filter, and factory upgraded exhaust (6HP on its own) it's probably got 432HP at the flywheel, but as a reflection of its use, it has averaged 18.7 mpg over 12k miles. It's supposed to average according to the EPA, 19mpg.

It did have one issue with an ABS sensor that was corrected by the dealer, but aside form that, this car has been trouble free. It is not included in GM any recalls for the ignition key as these were designed properly!

I'm very sad to see this car go as it has given us great enjoyment, but it must go, as we are facing other commitments.

Faults: there's a small scratch on the passenger side rear wheel, and a tiny blemish in the driver door (needs polishing out)

Tires: they're P=Zeros so they won't last forever, I'm guessing 50% wear.

I'm thinking that in years to come, this Camaro will be on the auction block as one of very few Camaros built in 2013 to this specification as it was not spat out of the factory to a combination thought to sell off the lot. So, if you're thinking of an investment, or just want one of the performance bargains of the decade, for fun cruising, you can't go wrong with this one.

Please ask questions and if you need to come and see the car, that's fine with me, serious buyers are very welcome, but if your intent is to have a free joy ride - FORGET IT. Serious inquiries only please. I am not interested in time wasters.

Thanks for looking and I hope this car goes to a good home.

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.

GM profit dips on truck changeover, but beats estimates

Thu, Apr 26 2018

DETROIT — General Motors on Thursday reported a higher-than-expected quarterly profit despite a drop in production of high-margin pickup trucks, as it gears up for new models that are expected to boost profits next year. Like rivals Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, GM is banking on highly-profitable Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks to lift profits, as consumers shift away from traditional passenger cars in favor of these larger, more comfortable trucks, SUVs and crossovers. During the first quarter, the process of changing over to GM's new pickups resulted in a drop in production of 47,000 units. GM Chief Financial Officer Chuck Stevens said the production drop had resulted in a drop in pre-tax profit of up to $800 million. Earlier this year, GM said its 2018 profits would be flat compared with 2017, but expected its all-new pickup trucks would boost margins starting in 2019. On Thursday, GM reiterated its full-year 2018 forecast for adjusted earnings in a range from $6.30 to $6.60 per share. The automaker said capital expenditures were more than $500 million higher in the quarter because of investments its new pickup trucks and a family of low-cost vehicles under development with Chinese partner SAIC Motor Corp. On Wednesday, rival Ford said it would stop investing in most traditional passenger sedans in North America. CFO Stevens told reporters on Thursday that GM has "already indicated that we will make significantly lower investments on a go-forward basis" in sedans. 2019 GMC Sierra View 21 Photos GM benefited from a lower effective tax rate in the quarter, but adjusted pre-tax margin fell to 7.2 percent from 9.5 percent a year earlier. Stevens said the company's profit margin should hit 10 percent or higher in the second quarter and for the full year. GM said material costs were $700 million higher in the first quarter, and it expects those costs to continue rising. The automaker said it would counter those increases with cost cutting measures. "It is a more difficult environment than it was three or four months ago," Stevens said when asked about rising commodity prices from potential steel and aluminum tariffs announced by the Trump administration. "But we are confident we can continue to offset that." The company reported quarterly net income of $1.05 billion or $1.43 per share, a drop of nearly 60 percent from $2.61 billion or $1.75 per share a year earlier. Analysts had on average expected earnings per share of $1.24.
