Amazing 1989 Iroc Z28 Camaro Convertible, Very Nice, New Paint, Built ~500hp on 2040-cars

Year:1989 Mileage:128000
Location:

Awesome collector toy or fully street legal (currently in az) daily driver with a lot of power that sounds awesome. This is a true iroc convertible verified by vin and RPO codes. This is a rare factory convertible (not a T-Top conversion) that has a number 3 in the 6th digit of the VIN number for factory convertibles of this year.  Only 3,940 were ever made of these.  I have owned this car for about 4 years and it has a box a title (no accidents). Also this car does not have the standard 5.0 engine, it has a much faster 350 sbc 5.7 liter.

Here is a video of the car running.

Here are some high res pics here

Irocs were only made from 1985 to 1990 and even then it must be labeled in the vin and rpo codes, or it's just an RS or Z28. You can easily Google how to verify a real iroc if you want more info. Power is near 500hp, but if you want exact you'll have to pay to have it put on a dyno which i will do at your cost (contact me to make arrangements). Its sounds like a true muscle car, and everyone loves it when I take it out, so if you want an attention getter, this is the one.

All new seals and gaskets redone 2 years ago, and all the performance mods put on, and car has been driven less than 500 miles since this time. Automatic transmission Th350 with no issues. Cold AC, passed Az emissions for another year no problems, so new Arizona tags for another year until October.

This car can be used as a daily driver if you wish, it runs great as a daily driver, never over heats, etc... no problems, just as reliable as my other car except everyone stares and points, and when i'm sitting at a light everyone also turns and a looks as where the rumble is coming from. New tags a few weeks ago,

Engine replaced with 5.7 sbc with the following upgrades:
  • Patriot performance all aluminum cylinder heads
  • Comp 270h cam
  • Holly stealth ram intake with high performance fuel rails
  • Bosch 36lbs injectors
  • New high volume race tronix fuel pump with wiring kit
  • 58mm polished holly throttle body
  • Edelbrock headers with y pipe. Titanium coated.
  • Flow master exhaust with full 3.5" tube exhaust piping
  • Computer chip reprogrammed.

Recent Paint job costing over 5k, entire body was dismantled, all trim was removed, ground effects, front and back, even the door locks and handles. Premium RPG paint, and triple clear coat.  It is Not a maaco paint job with bumpers, mirrors, and trim still on, those don't last, the paint will start to flake around the edges over time.
Color is bright red, matches exact original color using original RPO codes.  I had the car painted again only because the prior owner repainted it a different red and was poor quality.   Been garaged ever since, no snow (az) and never driven in rain or storms, and only driven a few hundred miles since new paint put on. Chrome iroc replica rims. Tires have only a few thousand miles, still look great and have those rubber tabs still hanging off that new tires have. Interior is all stock.  New door and trunk molding also recently put on.

Other stuff:
ac, power driver seat, upgraded cd stereo, etc... Several other parts replaced as well such as power steering pump, starter, battery, and alternator, new brake system front/back, and new front suspension, alignment, tires balanced. I have a folder with receipts.

128k on frame, < 2k miles since all new gaskets and performance parts. I've put about 3k miles on the car since i have had it about 4 years (3,000) just driving around town and having fun.

The 3 only minor things i am aware of with this car:
  • small oil leak at oil pain (I was told), was quoted 200$ to fix, and i don't ever need to put any oil in between changes so only if you don't want a metal drip pan on your floor in between rides.
  • small wear in the carpet just in between the 2 rear seats (center console), as you can see in the picture. Replacement carpet can be purchased online for 200$ or less. Not sure what happened, was like that when I purchased the car 4 years ago and carpet was next on my list but never had time.
  • very small clean/cut "pinch slice" on side of convertible top, i included a photo, it's patched from the back and not noticeable unless you are very close and know to look for it.

Nissan Leaf sets new November sales record, Chevy Volt drops again

Tue, Dec 2 2014

When you talk to people in the plug-in vehicle industry, one theme you hear repeatedly is that the more plug-in cars that are out there, the better things are for everyone. One reason is that more EVs build a need for more public chargers, and more chargers mean more people see that plugging in is feasible. But there's still something to be said for old-fashioned competition, and in the sales race between the two long-running plug-in vehicles in the US, the Nissan Leaf is resoundingly beating the Chevy Volt for 2014. In fact, it won't be long before the EV's cumulative sales top the PHEV's. But that's a topic for another month. For now, we have the sales results from November. Unsurprisingly, Nissan set another monthly record (that is, the best Leaf sales in any November, the 22nd time in a row we've seen a monthly record) with 2,687 sales last month. That's up 34 percent over last November and up 35 percent year-to-date. Toby Perry, Nissan's director of electric vehicle marketing, said in a statement that, "Our 'Kick Gas' ad campaign and 'No Charge to Charge' launch in Chicago and Atlanta drove an increase in November Leaf sales. Even with gas prices falling across the country, consumers appreciate that the cost of driving a Nissan Leaf is still a fraction of that of a gas-powered car." Over on the Chevy side of the ledger, there were 1,336 Volt sales last month, down 30.4 percent from the 1,920 sold in November 2013. So far this year, Volt sales are down 16.4 percent and Chevy has sold 17,315 Volts in 2014. As we said last month, the Volt slump might be due to people waiting on the new version to make an appearance at the Detroit Auto Show next month before going on sale in the second half of 2015. So far in 2014, Nissan has sold 27,098 Leafs. Look for our detailed post of US green car sales in the near future. Until then, please discuss last month's Leaf and Volt sale in the comments, below. Recharge Wrap-up: Indianapolis to switch 425 fleet vehicles to EVs, Chevy Corvette provides bat habitats

Tue, Nov 4 2014

Indianapolis will deploy 425 battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as part of its municipal fleet by 2016. The fleet will include such cars as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion Energi. The city will also reduce its overall fleet by 100 vehicles. In all, the revised group - called the "Freedom Fleet" - will save $8.7 million and 2.2 million gallons of gasoline over 10 years. Read more at Hybrid Cars. EVs with longer range would make vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy management systems more practical for the US. The idea of using EVs as energy storage for emergencies or times of high grid demand is currently being tested in Japan with Nissan's Leaf-to-Home system. The US is also interested in such capabilities, but the higher average energy use of American households would make larger batteries in EVs ideal for grid storage applications. The factory, when constructed, will have a capacity of producing batteries for 100,000 cars per year according to the Korean company. The plant will supply batteries for Chinese automakers such as SAIC and Qoros. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015 and LG Chem expects revenue of more than $933 million by 2020. Read more in the press release below. General Motors is using adhesive used in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to create habitat for threatened bat species. Artificial bat caves could help alleviate white-nose fungus that leads to diminished bat populations. Leftover adhesive is used to create stalactites in the artificial caves, allowing them more structure to hang from. GM has also provided Volt battery covers to create nesting habitats for bats, which eat harmful insects and help pollinate plants. See the videos and read more in the press release below. LG Chem officially breaks ground for China EV battery plant Seoul, Korea - Oct 30, 2014 – LG Chem, Korea's leading manufacturer of advanced batteries, held a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of electric-car battery plant in Nanjing, China, to meet growing demand in the world's biggest car market.

Opel CEO talks new EV, will likely be fresh face for Chevy, too

Wed, Jul 23 2014

The rumored demise of the Opel Ampera has been confirmed, but there's good news, too. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann has been busy Tweeting information about the brand's next plug-in vehicle, admitting that the Ampera is on the way out but that plug-in vehicles are here to stay. His Tweets, in full, read: After the eventual run-out of the current generation Ampera, we'll introduce a successor product in the electric vehicle segment. Our next electric vehicle will be part of our massive product offensive – with 27 new vehicles in the 2014-2018 time frame. We see eMobility as important part of the mobility of tomorrow and we will continue to drive down costs & deliver affordability. As we learned earlier this week, the Ampera will not be refreshed when the current Chevy Volt is updated, most likely because of slow sales. Opel sold just 332 Amperas in the first five months of 2014. For now, General Motors is still building Amperas in Michigan for export to Europe. So, what might this new EV mean for the General Motors plug-in fleet? Official spokespeople are being quiet, but we think it's safe to say the new EV Neumann is talking about is not simply a rebadged Chevy Spark EV. This is the first official word about an entirely new EV, and we expect it will come to both the Chevrolet and Opel brands.
