For sale to a GOOD HOME ONLY is a rock solid 2002 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with actual, true, one owner miles. Not only are the low miles, provenance and condition important here but the Sunset Orange Metallic exterior is probably THE hardest color to find.  Let alone in this condition. In the opening comments we stated that the vehicle is for sale to a GOOD HOME ONLY. This vehicle has been Simon's only child. Unfortunately due to a stroke this vehicle is now available for sale. REST ASSURED, if there is any word that a potential new owner is wanting to modify, customize, bolt on high performance crap, put on a hood scoop, stick some goofy neon lights underneath, slap on some stupid 12 inch tall "street" spoiler, drop in a 13 inch television screen or otherwise alter this vehicle into some "piece of art"  then please look elsewhere because we have no interest in passing this on to you. At a minimum,  If you plan on doing these things then don't be a moron and tell us about your intentions. It would be wise to keep it to yourself. The owner has been in tears over this and the last thing he needs is to have his memories of this car tarnished with thoughts of it's demise. Now that we have that out of the way,  let's move on to the Camaro.

Simon purchased the Z28 brand new and has been the only owner since that time. The vehicle has not been altered in any way from it's original form at all other then after purchase,  he spent $149 (back then) at the local Zeibart to have the vehicle rust protected. The vehicle has been stored in his garage during the winter months and has NEVER NEVER NEVER seen a Michigan winter. The original tires were recently replaced due to cracking and age but they ride smoothly, quiet and perform perfectly. He always kept the Camaro's paint protected with wax. This was done every spring, summer and fall since new. The vehicle has absolutely positively never ever been smoked in. Simon does not smoke and would not even allow anybody to drink or eat while riding. This Z is equipped with power windows, power locks that WORK PROPERLY. The tilt and cruise control WORK PROPERLY. All of the buttons on the steering wheel for the radio functions and the radio itself  WORKS PROPERLY. The T-Tops DO NOT LEAK nor are any of the rubber seals around the windows rotted from age like most of the ones you see. There are absolutely NO warning lights displayed nor has there been any warning lights displayed. As stated, the tires are new. The vehicle was just in for a fluid change and inspection where it passed with no known issues. The exterior is amazingly glossy with no paintwork or repairs anywhere on the body. It literally shines like a new car. Interior is rip, tear and wear free. No odors and no excuses. I personally drove this vehicle last week and put about 250 miles on it. I was most surprised by the LACK of squeaks and rattles. This sucker is amazingly quiet while driving and going over bumps. Other then the roar of the V8 engine it even handles and sounds like a new car. THE ONLY ITEMS I NOTICED that I would like to disclose are as follows. The brakes work perfectly and according to the inspection have lots of life left. BUT there is a SLIGHT and I mean  SLIGHT pulsation when the brakes are heated and applied. Most wont even notice but as picky as I am, I did notice it. My guess is over time and miles, the new owner may have to turn the front rotors at some point. Most parts stores do it for $10 bucks a side. The only other thing that I noticed is the bottom of the rectangular exhaust tips are starting to get some rust most likely due to the exhaust vapors sitting in them after the vehicle is turned off. The exhaust seems quiet at idle AND when I stomp on it so I am guessing this is more cosmetic then anything else but again, I did notice it. There are no scratches and the undercarriage is rust free. I have included photos of the underbody to prove that. The vehicle has the T-Top sunshade attachments that are still in the wrapper they came in. I took a photo of that as well. I hope I covered everything but if you need further information feel free to email me. Interestingly enough, 42000 Camaro's were built in 2002. There were only 1875 (about 4%) of that total production line produced in Sunset Orange including SS, Z28 and base Camaro vehicles. 30000 of the 42000 had rear defoggers which THIS Z28 HAS . 28000 of the 42000 had leather wrapped steering wheels with the radio buttons on them which THIS Z28 HAS. 24000 of the 42000 had removable T-Top panels which THIS Z28 HAS.  19000 of the 42000 produced had Traction Control which THIS Z28 HAS. Simon's Camaro is highly optioned but with the leather delete. This really helps narrow down an estimate of how many (if any) other Camaro's were ever built and equipped like this one. Subtract the estimates of the base and SS production figures then consider the high option content and rare exterior color. Those numbers alone bring this one down to at best,  1 of a few hundred. Then how many were ordered with tons of options but cloth seat surfaces??? 1 of 50??? Then how many had this interior color??? 1 of 25??? How many had the chrome wheels instead of the flat silver wheels???? Then how many are stock, unmolested, still on the road and have super low original miles???Well we know of 1 and that is the one for sale here today. In a few years when everyone is clamoring to get there hands on these which one do you think will be worth the most? I could be wrong but usually the most valuable are unique colors, options and condition of which this Z28 has hit every category.  This vehicle is not a new $40,000 Camaro meaning it does not come with a warranty. The vehicle is sold as-is where is. Buyer is responsible for any and all shipping charges, title, plate and taxes in your home state. If you are truly interested in the vehicle I can price some shipping rates for you through a friend of mine that is in the business. DO NOT jerk my time off just because you are "curious" and have nothing better to do. I am gainfully employed, work hard and am very busy. I do not have time to chit chat about the history of Chevrolet. But if you are on the fence about shipping then email me your zip code and I can try and get a quote for you.  I will answer emails as fast as I can and will forward any info you need as fast as I can but to serious buyers only. The family is very sad to see this go and Simon is even more upset. He always said how this Camaro called his name and he treated this car better then anything or anyone else. We are very prayerful that it does end up in a home that will love it as much as he did and we are confident it will be as reliable and dependable as it was for Simon. I will add any information that is appropriate as I get it and post it on the listing. Any bidders with 5 or less feedback MUST contact me before placing bid . By placing the winning bid you are entering into a legal agreement to PURCHASE the car NOT get first dibs on looking at it. Please make sure your husband, wife, banker, mother, father etc are fine with you purchasing this vehicle before you bid!

Again, please feel free to email me with any important questions.  Good luck and God bless!

Hot air balloons caught in high winds drag fullsize SUV

Mon, Jul 20 2015

A sudden storm front whipped up enough wind to send some hot air balloons flying into the air in Wisconsin over the weekend. One ballon proved so energetic that it was able to drag a fullsize SUV across a field and into a stand of tents. The freak accident occurred at Balloonfest in Waterford, Wisconsin. Spectators were horrified as balloons dragged handlers to the ground and launched with terrified pilots clinging to their baskets. Organizers had started packing up the colorful balloons due to ominous storm clouds when the wind kicked up. "Happened just like that; it was crazy," Nathan Fricke, crew member, told Fox 6. Winds were clocked at 40 to 50 miles per hour. A balloon caught in the wind dragged a large SUV (we think a Suburban or Yukon XL) hundreds of feet and into a cluster of tents on the edge of the staging area where balloons were on display for festival goers. Considering that the SUV surely weighs well over 5,000 pounds, it's lucky that no one was injured in the incident. News Source: Fox6Now Weird Car News Chevrolet GM GMC SUV

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing

Mon, 29 Jul 2013

General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.

My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry

Wed, Dec 1 2021

The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer.  The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
