1987 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Iroc-z Coupe 2-door 5.0l on 2040-cars

Year:1987 Mileage:33745
Location:

Franklin, Ohio, United States

Franklin, Ohio, United States

Up for auction is a 1987 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 IROC-Z.  It comes equipped with the following options:
-leather
-power driver's seat
-power windows
-power doors
-power hatch release
-original radio with cassette player
-power/telescopic antenna
-ice cold A/C
-305 cu in (5.0L) carbureted engine
-automatic transmission with overdrive

This car is all original with only 33,745 miles! Wow!  Since I've had it, I've installed new Fuzion tires on the front, a new Interstate battery, a new alternator, and got a new professional paint job in July of 2010.  This car has been immaculately maintained. It has been garage kept and only driven to shows for the last few years.  It is always a crowd favorite, a winner of 2 top 10 trophies and has been featured on national tv at Mecum Auction. I believe this is truly one of the best 3rd generation Camaro's out there.  Believed to be the 4th owner (3rd owner was my dad).  This car is nearly flawless, but since I realize that most bidders won't be able to see it in person before the purchase, I will list all imperfections that I am aware of:

-The speedomoter reads about a little slower than you are actually going.  I believe it came from the factory this way.  Most Camaros had 15" wheels and only the IROCs got 16" ones.  You can do a search by the VIN number to confirm this car is an original IROC (I have, it is), but for whatever reason it is calibrated for 15" wheels.

-The temperature gauge works intermittently.  Replaced the sending unit and was told it was the actual gauge, haven't bothered looking for a replacement, has never had an overheating issue.

-Cruise control has never worked since I've had it.  Never looked into getting it fixed since I mostly only drive it to shows or local places.

-There are very tiny, what I would call hairline/spider cracks in the very bottom portion of the front bumper.  They are barely visible and only from close up.  I believe this is sometimes typical of fiberglass.

-There is a piece of leather trim that goes around the edges of the bottom part of the driver's seat, it is broken in one place.  Could probably be sewn/glued back as it is only broken, not missing.  Has never bothered me enough to try.  I just place it in position once I get out at car shows and you can't tell.

-There is a locking storage compartment in the rear hatch section, the door is faded.

-The plastic on one side of where you plug the driver's side seat belt into is broken/missing.  Doesn't affect the seat belt operation at all and it is the inside side (against the console) so it is not usually visible.

At the time of this listing, I do not have specific close ups of any of these places.  I may try to add some later, if not just contact me and I will take some and send them to you on request.

Please also note, the odometer photo is from awhile back but the mileage listed here is accurate at the time of posting.  This car is not a daily driver so it will not go up much, but could increase slightly (probably less than 30 miles) by the time the sale is completed.

This is my first time trying to sell a car this way so I'm trying to figure this out as I go.  If you feel any information has been left out or would like to inquire about something further, do not hesitate to contact me through eBay and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of the conclusion of this auction via Paypal.  Full payment and pick-up is expected within 10 days of the conclusion of the auction.  I'm asking for the payment to be in cash upon pick-up or full payment through some type of bank transfer service (Paypal, Quickpay, etc...).  However, it has been brought to my attention that some people may have the car shipped instead of picking it up themselves and do not have the means to transfer the money online, if this is applicable to you, I will accept a cashier's check or money order.  However, it must be sent in advance of pick-up as it must have time to clear before I will release the car and title.

This vehicle has a clear Ohio title which I will have notarized and ready to go upon its sale.

Starting bid will be $4,999.  There is a reserve.

Please only bid if you actually intend to complete the transaction within the terms outlined in this listing and in eBay's policies.  This is the second time I've listed the car (first winner did not pay) and I just want to get it sold now.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. 2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

GM is quietly slashing prices on base models

Fri, Jan 30 2015

While General Motors' fourth quarter financial figures haven't yet been released, the automaker seems to be weathering a potentially rocky time well, even beating third-quarter projections last year. To keep the climb going, the company is launching new base trims for several popular models that make them cheaper than ever but with tight dealer margins. The new entry-level trims are the Chevrolet Cruze L, Equinox L, GMC Terrain SL and Buick LaCrosse 1SV. Buyers lose some content by picking them, but the prices are slashed. According to Cars Direct, the biggest savings are on the LaCrosse, where customers pay $31,065, plus $925 destination, $2,570 less than the previous base 1SB trim but must accept things like 17-inch wheels and no cargo net in the back. If you're wondering how Buick can remove only a little equipment but cut the price so much, it's because the company also slashed dealer margins. According to Cars Direct, the difference between the invoice and MSRP for the LaCrosse 1SV is only around $150, compared to around $1,350 before. The disparity is even greater for the Cruze with an $81 difference in the prices, compared to about $600 for the LS version. Showrooms are expected to keep very low stocks of these trims, though. "Dealers use such vehicles to get people in the door, but they do not generally want to do high volumes of these strippers. The margins are next to nothing; they don't make much money off these cars," said Ed Kim, Vice President of Industry Analysis for AutoPacific to Autoblog. Dealers are also expected to advertise that these new base trims undercut major competitors. For example, the Cruze L rings up for about $2,320 less than a Honda Civic LX, according to Cars Direct. One potential drawback for buyers is that these models might not be eligible for incentives. While the attractive prices might get customers into dealers, folks may not actually end up driving home with these entry-level models. Kim indicated base trims also make up a small portion of the sales mix. "Consumers aren't asking for stripped out vehicles, even at the low end of the marketplace," he said.
