I'm the third owner of this camaro.  I bought it from the second owner in April 2011 with the intention of restoring it since I had one like it in college.  He was the best buddy of the original owner and only coaxed it away from him when the A/C compressor quit in 2009 (I haven't fixed it yet either).  It had been a daily driver until then and I have maintenance records from the original owner.  It is a southern car, having spent it's entire life in Alabama and Mississippi.  Second owner was going to make a hot rod out of it, but sold for financial reasons before he could get started.  I'm selling because my daughter fell in love with a 1965 C10 and begged me to restore it for her (go figure).  I don't have the room or money to do both and I'd rather spend my time on a project with her.

This car is rock solid.  Only rust I've found is surface rust.  Runs and drives great.  New tires all around (P205 75 R14).  I used it as my daily driver for a month back in the spring before it got too warm.  I drive 30 miles round trip to work and I averaged 20 mpg on the highway.  Only problem I had was a heater hose, which I replaced.  Car needs paint and I've removed all exterior trim in preparation for that.  It's all in good shape, stored in my garage.  Car was garage kept until I got it and I've stored it outside under a cover since I started the truck project.  Exterior is mostly straight with minor dings here and there.  Interior is almost perfect.  Most of the weather stripping is dry rotted from age, so car leaks if left outside uncovered.  I have original full size spare and jack and many new replacement parts including a set of polygraphite suspension bushings and new lower grill.  Yes, I have the center cap that's missing in the picture.  I paid $1900 for the car and have put money in it.  I'm not trying to get all my money back, but I won't give it away either.  Car can be seen in Madison, MS.  Contact me thru ebay to arrange a test drive.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

Chevrolet donates 300 vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Super Storm Sandy took out a lot of automobiles in its path of destruction through the Northeast last October. The number surpassed 250,000 at last count, and a few of those were owned by Chevrolet - cars either sitting on dealership lots or waiting at port to be shipped off. Rendered unsellable by the water damage inflicted by Sandy, these vehicles were facing the crusher. But Chevy didn't send them there.
Instead, Chevy had a better idea: It will be donating 300 of these vehicles damaged by Sandy to help train first responders at Guardian Centers in Perry, GA. Chevy is the official automotive partner of Guardian Centers, which is an 830-acre facility that trains first responders in disaster preparedness. Junked cars are practically a consumable commodity there, where a full-size cityscape simulator gives trainees an entire urban center in which to train for all sorts of rescue operations and disaster scenarios.
Chevy says its particular vehicles will be used "in conjunction with role players for wide area searches, traffic congestion in emergency situations, counter terrorism, public order and mass casualty exercises." While grim scenarios all, we're certainly glad there are people out there preparing for the unexpected. While a zombie apocalypse isn't officially on the list of potential disasters to prepare for, when the virus hits, we'll be hot-footing it to Perry, GA to hang with these guys and gals.
