Up for auction is a 1972 Chevy Camaro Split Bumper with a 350 and a automatic transmission. It's a running driving car that I was going to restore but, it never happened. The car starts right up, idles smooth, no smoking or knocking, and has a nice cam! The car runs and drives very well, and could be a daily driver right away if you wanted. The car has been in the desert for many years and is very solid with no visible rust issues at all. The car has lots of new parts, including new seat upholstery front and rear, new carpet, and the inside looks great. Under the hood is clean, and the car doesn't have any visible leaks! I know that I will get a bunch of questions about driving the car home, and it would be just fine if you put some new tires on the car as the ones on the car have some dry rot from the Vegas heat. This is a awesome car that looks very good from a few feet away but, she was painted several years ago, and it was a lower end paint job. Great for a daily driver car but, not a show quality paint job. The car is a great little project, and the pictures will speak for themselves. The car will sell to the highest bidder, and NO RESERVE!!!
Engine/ Trans: The engine is a rebuilt, low mileage 350, with a Edelbrock intake. The engine fires up instantly, no smoking or knocking and no leaks. The motor has less than 7,500 miles on it since it was rebuilt. The car has Power Steering and Power Disc brakes that work great! The car has a new Power Steering pump, and a New Steering Box. The car has Headman headers that lead back to a nice sounding dual exhaust. The car was originally a A/C car but, it has since had the A/C stuff removed. I have some of the AC parts that will go with the car. The car also has a new battery, new cap/rotor, plugs and wires. I also put on new hoses, and a new overflow bottle for the radiator. The transmission is a smooth shifting Turbo350, with a shift kit. The trans is sealed up with no leaks, and works great. The rear end is a 10 bolt, Non Posi rear end with 3:23 gears.
Interior/ Exterior: The interior is pretty clean overall, with lots of new stuff. The seat are newly reupholstered, new carpet kit, and new Camaro floor mats. The dash was cracked so I unbolted it, and she is ready to be removed. The middle door panels were gone when I bought the car. The door sill plates are new and so are the kick panels. the headliner looks good too. The interior just needs some dash work to finish up the interior. The doors open and close fine, windows roll up and down just like they should. The speedo works, gas gauge works, and there are aftermarket gauges for the other stuff like, temp, oil, and alt. the lights work, and the blinkers work but, the horn is not hooked up and the radio is not hooked up.
The exterior is in good shape with no rust issues. The paint is several years old with some small chips but no dents or dings. The rims are in good shape but the tires are old. The front bumpers are new, the front grille is new, and the rest of the chrome is in decent shape overall. The trunk needs a trunk lock cylinder, or a flat head screwdriver.. your choice!! Hahah The car does not show any signs of ever being involved in an accident, as everything looks nice and straight. The trunk looks great with no rust issues in there! The sheet metal appears to be bondo free which is great! It's just a nice little driver, and a pretty rare car with the split bumpers.
The car is a driver/ project type car! The winning bidder is required to pay a $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of winning the car! The car is being sold " As Is" due to it's age. The deposit must be paid through Paypal. The remaining balance is due within 5 days of the auction closing, and the final payment may be made with a Cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing, and my zip code is 89131 for shipping purposes. Please email me with any questions, and good luck!! choice!! Haha.
On Mar-07-13 at 21:37:44 PST, seller added the following information:
I forgot to mention that I have a lot of extra parts to go with the Camaro like a new heater core and interior trim pieces and some other interior and exterior parts I have gathered for the car. Also I will be willing to listen any fair offer to end the auction early, please send over a fair offer. I will not tell you what I am looking to get for the car, just send over your best offer and we will discuss it. Thanks for looking!

GM, Pilot will build EVgo fast chargers at 500 truck stops across U.S.
Thu, Jul 14 2022All of our maps showing electric vehicle charging stations across the U.S. are going to need an update. Today, General Motors, Pilot and EVgo announced plans to work together on a nationwide DC fast charging network. The plan calls for 2,000 charging stalls that can deliver up to 350 kW to be installed at up to 500 Pilot and Flying J travel centers in the U.S. The goal is to have DC fast chargers available in 50-mile intervals across the country. The new charging stations will feature GM's "Ultium Charge 360" branding and "Pilot Flying J" logos but will not be limited to drivers of GM EVs. The plugs will use CCS connectors and be available to anyone. GM EV owners can take advantage of benefits, including the ability to make exclusive reservations, get discounts on charging costs and streamline the charging process with Plug and Charge and in-vehicle apps that can provide real-time charger availability. The first installation phase will take place in 2023, and "the bulk of the installations" should be completed by 2025, EVgo CEO Kathy Zoi said during a conference call with reporters announcing the plan. "We're gonna get going immediately and commence all of that engineering and planning stuff," she said. "We've got a pretty orderly plan." Pilot CEO Shameek Konar said the company expects the new EV charging stations to coexist with the current fuel infrastructure. "An average Pilot Flying J location is about 10 acres," Konar said. "This will be in addition to all of our gas pumps. The way I think about it is, this is a new source of energy that is going to coexist with gas for quite some time. We can debate how long, but we need to serve both groups of customers." Installing DC fast chargers at hundreds of Pilot's travel centers — aka truck stops — means there should be food, drinks, restrooms, WiFi and even showers available while you wait for an EV to charge. Pilot recently announced its “New Horizons” plan that will invest $1 billion in upgrading Pilot travel centers with more premium amenities, including expanded seating and lounge areas. While the exact amount of time it will take to charge an EV using these new stations will vary on the EV and its current state of charge, most EVs can refill from a low state of charge to around 80 percent in 20-30 minutes on a fast charger. The new stations are future-proofed to deliver up to 350 kW, a charge rate that few EVs today can handle.
Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint
Sun, Feb 6 2022Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
