Original motor is gone as well as the trans, when I bought the car the owner thought he might have them buried somewhere in storage but they have yet to surface. Car is sitting on original rims and still has the original 10 bolt posi and everything is free, she rolled right on and off the trailer when I picked her up originally. Sequoia Green with "Covert" (light tan) interior. Interior is all there including the original AM/FM pushbutton radio, nothing is hacked up. Original dash and U-14 gauges and correct tach are all there. Seats will need recovering and door panels will need replacing, etc... but it's all available repro. All the glass is decent (factory tinted) and I put a solid OEM hood on the car since the original was shot.
Front and rear correct sway bars are all there as are the spoilers. The original console was missing, I found a correct 4-Speed console from a 71 which is in excellent condition and I have the correct 72 shift plate without the shift pattern on it and the correct ITM shifter for the car that will be included. Also have the hard to find Z-28 Exhaust Heat Shields, these go with the car, they were removed as I was cleaning them up and sandblasting them, I've been offered $250 just for these, they are not reproduced anywhere. Since last look I also realized that the mileage on the clock is most likely original, the previous owner told me that the car was parked sometime in the 80's and it's not likely the car had 150 something on it by then, so I'm betting that it's got 56153 original on it.
On the rust side, there are two rust-throughs on the rear framerails but it's where they swing up into the axle well and the rails themselves are structurally intact up into the trunk pan and to the tail panel. The wheelhouses, shock towers and metal above the rails back to the rear are not bad at all. Trunk floor is rusty but not full of holes, original jack is still in there. The rear suspension is intact and sitting right and sway bars are in place, springs don't look half bad either for that matter. It's got the typical Camaro rust in the rear quarters at the bottom and into the doors, it's not the worst I've seen, can probably get away with 1/2 quarters unless you want to put fulls on. Again, inner and outer wheelhouses are good in the rear and shock towers are solid. Rockers have some holes but again, not bad.
Floors are not bad in rear and under rear seat but some holes in front floors. Front fenders have the typical rust on the rear lower portions but I would say are salvageable with lower patch panels. Valance and header have surface rust but no holes, definitely can be retained. Rear lower valance has rot. The urethane nose has a cracked part as is typical. Radiator support is intact but has some typical rust below where the radiator was. Roof looks good as do the a-pillars and top of cowl down the firewall to the toeboards, nothing bad for the most part. Bumperettes are not bad and neither are the lights and markers and trim, not show car material but would clean up for driver/survivor look. Front subframe does not look bad and the body mounts are not all torn up and shot so again this is a good sign. You can see from the engine bay photos that someone literally yanked the motor and trans and just left everything else there, even wiring harnesses and accessories. The Z-bar and lockout linkage is even still there for the trans.
There are no keys for this car but I have a full new cylinder set with ignition, doors and trunk that I will provide with the car.

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump
Mon, 11 Feb 2013To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):
1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won. GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable
Fri, 21 Sep 2012General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
