Grayslake, Illinois, United States
1971 Chevrolet Camaro, 406 S.B. 500 H.P. Let me
start off by saying this camaro isn't a perfect show car. But if your
looking for a nice car to take to the local car cruises and to drive around and
have fun with than this is the car for you. Car came from Florida and has been
in Michigan for 5 years. It has always been garage kept. Overall this Camaro is
very solid. The body is pretty straight and the paint shows well. The paint is
not perfect but is a very nice driver quality paint. I have owned alot of classic
cars over the years and would rate the paint on this car a very solid 7 out of
10. Car is powered by a 406 small block with solid lift cam, camel back heads,
EdelbrockAluminum Victor Jr r gap intake, Holley 650 carb, Hooker super comp
headers with 3" exhaust and Warlock racing mufflers. Rear end is a 10 bolt
posi with 488 gears. Transmission is a 350 turbo with a manual valve body and a
B/M shifter.Autometer gauges, 16 gal fuel cell. Accell Electronic Ignition,
Mallory distributor,,Traction/Ladder bars, with sub frame connectors, holley
fuel pump, competition engineering rear coil overs, 15x8 Rallys on the rear with
15x7" Rallys on the front mounted on B.F. Goodrich tires.P275/R60/15's in
the rear and 205/R65/15 in the front, Front disc brakes,Front and rear
suspension is good, Interior
has Bomz racing seats, car has no rear seat.. Car has back half caged, the
front bars have been taken out.The interior is nice and clean, good
seats/carpet/dash/and weatherstripping, It will need a headliner All lights and
turn signals work fine. There are no wipers or heater or radio. Windshield has
crack on passenger side. Like I said before, this isn’t a show car but it is a
very nice street car that is perfect for the local car cruises or local car
gatherings. If your looking for a car to turn heads when you pull into the
parking lot of your local bar, car cruise, or burger joint than this is your
car. This 406 sounds awesome, and the Warlock mufflers make this car really
come alive when uncorked. Overall this is a great little car. |

Burt Reynolds' movie re-creations fetch $379,500 in Vegas
Wed, Oct 3 2018The recent death of Hollywood legend and automotive enthusiast Burt Reynolds helped drive up the value of four of his former cars from the 1970s and '80s, which sold last weekend at Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas auction for a combined $379,500. Reynolds, who died Sept. 6 at age 82, had offered three Pontiac Trans Ams — two of them re-creations of the cars he drove in "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Hooper" and the third from 1984 used to promote his United States Football League team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth was a 1978 Chevrolet R30 pickup truck, styled like the one featured in "Cannonball Run." The "Bandit" re-creation, a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am that Reynolds ordered to be as "movie-correct" as possible but featuring a custom-built 200-4R automatic transmission, sold for $192,500. The car features a freshly built Pontiac 400 cubic-inch V8 mated to a four-speed automatic and featuring all-new Butler Performance parts and air-conditioning components. Reynolds reportedly said this was his favorite car from his films, and it even came with an authentic movie-correct CB radio and CB antenna. The red retro-rocket "Hooper" '78 Firebird, with a 403 cubic-inch V8 and a three-speed automatic, hammered for $88,000. By comparison, a gold 1978 Trans Am also offered at the Las Vegas auction but not connected to Reynolds fetched $27,500. The 1987 Chevy R30 pickup was a re-creation of the Indy Hauler pace truck seen jumping over a moving freight train in "Cannonball Run." It hammered for $49,500. The fourth car never appeared in any of Reynolds' films but is instead the only surviving example of two Trans Ams used to promote the Tampa Bay Bandits of the now-defunct USFL, having been driven out onto the field by Reynolds and his late friend and co-star, Jerry Reed, during opening day one season. It also sold for $49,500. At the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in 2016, Reynolds accompanied a 1977 Trans Am used to promote "Bandit" onto the auction block. That car sold for $550,000. GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title
Thu, 12 Sep 2013General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error
Sun, Feb 8 2015After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare.
