Up for auction is my 1971 Chevy Camaro RS.  It is a 350ci Turbo 350 automatic car with the column shifter.  I have owned it for the last 9 years and was last registered in 2004.  I put very few miles on it right after I bought it from a guy that didn't drive it for the previous 6 years, so the odometer reads only 33024 miles.  I'm guessing that it is really 133,024.  I've just cleaned it up a bit and driven it around the block occasionally.  It has American Racing Torq Thrust wheels.  14" on front and 15" on the rears.  Has traction bars, front spoiler, & rear tall 3-piece spoiler. The 350ci engine runs good but needs a tune-up.  Has a K&N air filter, headers, a Holley aluminum intake, & a Flex-o-Lite fan.  Power steering, front disc brakes, rear drums.  Needs front brake rotors.  Body is pretty straight with rust on the rear bottom of the right front fender, just behind the wheel.  There is a dent in the drivers door and some work on the rear taillight panel by the previous owner (Bondo)  Has slight rust in bottom of passenger side rear quarter, surface rust in the bottom of the trunk, & surface rust on the drivers side front floor pan.  The hood has a fiberglass L-88 hoodscoop riveted on to it and hood pins.  There's air shocks on the rear and rear spring shackles.  It's an old school street freak car with all the hard to find plastic pieces intact.  There's a center console in it even though it's a column shift automatic.  It is missing the passenger front seat belts, and the ignition has been set up with a push-button start. Needs a new battery.  Comes with an extra dash pad, replacement window regulators and a clean Montana title.

     Trim Tag reads:         ST71        12487NOR        119201BDY
                                      TR777                                   26 26 PNT
                                      01C
Was originally a Mulsanne Blue exterior and a Sandalwood standard vinyl interior.   Now White over Black.
No warranty implied or expressed.  A deposit of $500.00 is required upon close of auction.  This is a local pick up only and I will not ship.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Full payment is required within 7 days of close of auction and vehicle must be removed within 7 days unless previous arrangements have been made.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers

Wed, Aug 14 2024

Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.

New Corvette Feature Keeps An Eye On Valets

Wed, Aug 20 2014

Face it. If you own a luxury or sports car, whenever you hand the keys to a valet, you imagine the car going on a high-speed joyride like the Ferrari in the 1980s cult movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Now, General Motors has an option on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette that takes those worries away. The latest version of the sports car, due out in September, has a feature that records where the car goes with a camera mounted in the windshield trim. It also captures audio in the cabin as well as speed, engine revolutions per minute, gear position and G-force. That all helps the car tattle on any valet who doesn't take a slow, direct route to a parking space. GM says it's the most extensive attempt by an automaker to thwart valet joyriders, although it's not the first. The automotive website Edmunds.com says Hyundai and Mercedes offer "geofencing," a feature that sets a perimeter and then notifies the owner's smart phone if a car goes beyond it. Chrysler has a valet mode that caps engine speed and horsepower, while Audi lets owners limit engine speed for valets. With the Corvette, once the owner activates the feature with a four-digit code, the touch screen tells the driver it's in Valet Mode. But it doesn't warn the valet that he's being recorded. The feature also locks the glove box and a storage compartment in the dashboard and shuts down the infotainment system. Valet Mode started off as a performance data recorder for those who take their Corvettes on the racetrack. GM engineers quickly figured out that it had more uses. "Think of it as a baby monitor for your car," Corvette Product Manager Harlan Charles said in a statement. "Anyone who has felt apprehension about handing over their keys will appreciate the peace of mind of knowing exactly what happened while their baby was out of sight." Data and video from the valet mode can be viewed instantly by the owner on the car's 8-inch color screen when the car is parked, or it can be downloaded to a computer. The system could go into more mainstream models if feedback is good on the Corvette, GM spokesman Monte Doran said. The feature is paired with a navigation system and costs $1,795. A 2015 Corvette starts at just under $54,000. Chevrolet Technology Gadgets
