It's time to sell our '69 Camaro convertible. This car gets 2-3 "Thumbs up" per mile, if you don't want people coming up to you and asking questions about it then DO NOT BID...Ha! As I'm typing this, I can see some kids from the local high school taking pictures of themselves in front of it on my driveway!! The car gets attention.

Please have the money or financing in place BEFORE BIDDING ! My reserve is set below what the restoration place said it is worth.
The car has won both gold and platinum awards in the Semi-Custom category of the Creme de la Creme Rod and Custom Car Show (2002-2003)
That is when we were actually taking the car out to shows
I have a few trim pieces that go with the car.

I am not a mechanic, so I took it to a local vintage Camaro restoration specialist for evaluation.  Here's what he told me:

The Good:
  • Casting #'s Engine "V" = Flint Michigan Engine Plant , 05 = 5th month, 24 = Day 24, YC = 1968
  • Block Casting #'s 8914678,  Date E 17 8
  • All shaker cans are present
  • It has a turbo 350 automatic transmission
  • It has a 10 bolt non-posi rear end
  • It has a heavy duty front sway bar
  • The bumpers appear to be original
  • It has a 327 engine bored out .30 with a mild cam
  • Power antenna
  • Awesome cd/ stereo system hidden in the glove box with a sub woofer in the trunk
  • Custom paint is a kind of teal color with a hint of pearl
  • Non-functioning cowl hood
  • Custom interior
  • Custom trunk compartment with a Raised Chevy logo
  • The glass in good shape but the drivers rear window needs help going up and down
  • It has a new battery
  • It has a black non-power top
  • Plastic rear window is good shape
  • It has "Blue dot" tail lights
  • It has T-Thrust mag wheels with good tread remaining on the tires. (The tires and rims on the rear are slightly larger than on the front)
  • It has an alarm with a hidden kill switch
  • Ceramic coated headers
  • Sounds good
  • Runs good
The not-so-good:
  • It needs carpet if you want perfection. The carpet is old and faded and should be replaced
  • It has a significant scratch in the paint on the passenger rear 1/4 panel (see pictures) small dime sized dent in front and by rear spoiler.
  • The front spoiler is cracked (About a $30.00 for a new one)
  • The numbers do not match but the engine is a 68 vintage
  • The car drips a little transmission fluid
  • No air conditioning
  • Unsure of the actual mileage
The reason for selling is that we just don't drive it anymore and we would like to see it go to someone who would take it out more often.
It has been a great car to own and a lot of fun to drive.Plus, it will certainly go up in value. I know I'll kick myself in a few years for selling it!
I got it out of the garage today and drove it. when I got to the highway on ramp and "Floored" it, it hesitated a bit probably from sitting over the winter.I made an appointment with the restoration guy to check out the carburetor and repair what ever made it do that.
I am sure I forgot something. If you have any questions I'll try my best to answer them.
If you or someone you know lives in the Denver area and wants to take a look at the car, that can be arranged.

GM Recalling Another 2.7 Million Vehicles In Five Separate Campaigns

Thu, May 15 2014

The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles. The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles – some of them the same models – but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago. The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents. A further 112k Corvette models from the 2005-2007 model years are being called in for problems with their low-beam headlamps resulting from a flexing relay control circuit wire that's not meant to bend. GM says it is "aware of several hundred complaints" about this issue, but notes that there have been no reports of related accidents. In addition, over 19k examples of Cadillac CTS from the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled over windshield wipers that might not work after a jump start. Finally, GM is also bringing in 477 examples of its 2014 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe and GMC Sierra (though not the Yukon) to fix a problem with a tie rod in its steering rack. As ever, all recall repairs will be performed free of charge, and GM is now estimating that recall-related actions this quarter will result in an estimated $200-million charge against its second-quarter earnings. Read the full announcement from GM below for further details.

Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.

These are the five most ridiculous attacks on the Chevy Volt [w/videos]

Thu, Aug 7 2014

It's been a long, strange trip for the Chevy Volt from the time when the now-odd-looking concept version (above) was introduced at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show to today. And now, General Motors announced that the second-generation Chevy Volt will make an appearance at the 2015 Detroit show in January. This debut represents a victory for GM with what has easily become the most politicized car of the 21st Century. There are plenty of reasons for someone to criticize the Volt, but what's amazing is just how much anti-Volt energy has been spent not on things like the styling or how the EREV setup is not as efficient as a pure-EV powertrain. As we wait for more official information on the new Volt, we thought it would be fun to go back and look at some of the most wildly incorrect reporting and strangest attacks on the Volt from the archives. There is so much good stuff out there, it was hard to pare the list down, but these are our five favorites. Amazingly, they're not all clips from Fox News. Check 'em out below. 5. GM Is Going To Stop Making The Chevy Volt In The US Do you remember when GM was about to move Volt production to China? Well, yeah, this was reported back in early 2012 when a GM executive mentioned that the automaker would get benefits of building the Volt in the places where it sells them. This was spun into a story of GM taking Obama bailout money and then running to China. The Blaze was not happy: "Given the fact that Federal government helped itself to millions and millions of taxpayer dollars under the pretense that it was going to combat high unemployment by creating 'green jobs,' it would seem that moving research and development (and possibly manufacturing) overseas is slightly, well, counterproductive." Well, of course, that never happened. There's no way to say that GM will never build a version of the Volt in China, but the news we hear rumors of these days is that GM is going to move production of more Volt parts (specifically, the motors) to Michigan from overseas. 4. The Chevy Volt Is A Fire Trap There has never been a Volt that just spontaneously lit up while driving down the road. Yes, there were Volts that caught on fire. Yes, that's a scary thing. But there has never been a Volt that just spontaneously lit up while driving down the road. These were crashed test vehicles with destroyed batteries and plugged-in vehicles that were not the cause.
