CAMARO "RED STRIPE" CONVERTIBLE
ODOMETER READS 2,500 MILES. ALL TUNING AND ROAD TESTS ARE COMPLETED AND READY TO DRIVE AND SHOW. THIS COULD BE A
VERY EASY AND FUN POWER TOUR OR RALLY CAR. THIS IS NOT JUST A DAILY DRIVER WITH A 10' PAINT JOB AND CHROME WHEELS!
EXTERIOR
The newer show quality paint has been color sanded & buffed free of any orange peel, so it looks deep and shiny
with all gaps re-aligned and smoothed. Check out the photo of the reflection of the hood. The Black and Silver is
a beautiful combination with the bright "Red Stripe" that adds that perfect accent and pop of color. There are so
many extras that are added to the car that will show in the photos along with the build quality. A few items that
often would be overlooked are: The door handles are not standard GM, they're now Jaguar, the rear spoiler is now
blended into the trunk, the bumpers have all been smoothed and the door jambs are smoothed as well just to name a
few.
INTERIOR
The dash, Auto Meter gauges, steering wheel, console, carpet, and custom door panels & console are in excellent
condition and showing like new. It is complimented by its freshly redone custom power bucket seats with the Hurst
4-speed shifter & console. Every rubber seal has been replaced from top to trunk, door to door, as well as new
header bows. All glass looks like great as does the new Haartz cloth convertible top, which is much more elegant
than the Vinyl from 1969.
DRIVETRAIN
The engine bay has also been completely updated and is equipped with a custom-built Holley stealth Ram fuel
injected 383ci 468 HP motor with plenty of power with enough billet and chrome to catch the eye. The machine work
and motor were done by Karl's Performance, as well as the computer tuning. Hooker ceramic headers with a new
Flowmaster exhaust help to provide the power to the 3.73 Eaton posi-trac rear end to the New 18's & 19's custom
polished wheels & tires with 275-35-19 monsters out back. Braking has been upgraded with Wilwood & CPP 4-wheel
disc brakes for great stopping capabilities. The firewall has been smoothed for a unique look. The Front
suspension has been upgraded to polyurethane bushings and QA-1 coil-over shocks along with quick ratio power
steering. There are sway bars on the front and rear along with sub-frame connectors to hold the corners.
The 4-speed Muncie transmission is solid and shifts as it should. The electrical system is 100% serviced and every
bulb has been replaced. Yes, even the lighter socket works.

Want a V8 on the cheap? Buy a work truck
Thu, Aug 3 2017In case you didn't notice, V8 cars have gotten pretty expensive. If you want a modern muscle car like the Dodge Challenger R/T, Ford Mustang GT, or Chevy Camaro SS, you'll need between $34,000 and $38,000 for a stripped out example of one. The cheapest of those is the Challenger, and the priciest is the Camaro. These are also the cheapest V8 cars the companies offer. But if you absolutely have to have a V8 for less, there is an option, work trucks. As it turns out, all of the Big Three offer their most basic work trucks with V8s. And because they're so basic, they're pretty affordable, especially when sticking with the standard two-wheel drive. A Ram 1500 Tradesman with a V8 can be had for as little as $29,840, which is a little more than $4,000 less than a Challenger R/T. For a bit more at $30,275, you can have a Chevy Silverado W/T, almost $8,000 less than a Camaro SS. The most expensive is the V8 Ford F-150 starts at a starting price of $30,670, which is a bit over $5,000 less than the Mustang. Of course you'll be in an ultra bare bones vehicle with few comforts, and the price will go up if you add stuff, but we're bargain hunting here, and sacrifices are sometimes necessary. Besides, what you lose in comfort, you gain in loads of cargo space and towing (try to look at the bright side). Also, as a side note, all three trucks are available with optional electronic locking rear differentials. At the discounted price of these trucks, you still get a heaping helping of power. The most potent of the trio is the Ram 1500 Tradesman with 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque generated by a 5.7-liter V8. Compared with the Challenger R/T, the Ram is up by 20 horsepower and they're tied for torque. The value proposition is even more stark between the two vehicles when looking at the price per horsepower. Each pony in the Ram costs $75.54, while the Challenger charges you $90.91. The Challenger is also more expensive per horsepower than its close competitors. The F-150's 5.0-liter V8 is just barely behind the Ram with 395 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. That's still more power than the Challenger, and it matches the torque of the 2017 Mustang GT. On the down side, it still would be down 20 horsepower on that same 2017 Mustang, and it's behind by 60 horsepower and 20 pound-feet on the new 2018 Mustang GT. The F-150 also just edges out the Mustang in the dollar per horsepower measure.
Canada opens probe into 250,000 GM pickups, SUVs over brake performance
Sun, Jun 23 2019Transport Canada, the auto safety regulator, has opened a probe into braking issues in nearly 250,000 General Motors full-size pickups and SUVs after U.S. officials launched a similar probe last year, the agency said on its website. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in November into 2.73 million U.S. 2014-2016 model year SUVs and pickups after receiving 487 reports of hard brake pedal effort accompanied by extended stopping distance that were attributed to deterioration of the engine-driven brake assist vacuum pump. Transport Canada's probe covers 249,700 2015 through 2017 model year vehicles including the Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon as well as 2014-2017 Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD vehicles. The U.S. agency said it had reports of nine incidents of vehicles incurring damage as a result of colliding with another vehicle or fixed object at low speeds and reports of two injuries. NHTSA said if the pump fails to operate, the amount of brake power assist can be significantly reduced, extending vehicle stopping distance. The NHTSA sent GM an information request in a Feb. 7 letter. A GM spokesman said he had no update on the investigation. Reporting by David Shepardson; editing by Jonathan Oatis
Recharge Wrap-up: Toyota FCV Rally Car To Compete, Barra bullish on Chevy Volt
Fri, Oct 31 2014The Toyota FCV will compete in the last stage of the 2014 Japanese Rally Championship. The sport-tuned hydrogen-powered car will tackle the 177-mile Shinshiro Rally on November 1 and 2, emitting no greenhouse gases in the process. The rally course will help prove the safety of the vehicle before it goes on sale in Japan in the next several months. The Toyota FCV, rumored to be called "Mirai" in Japan, will begin sales there before April, according to Toyota, and in the summer in the US and Europe. Read more in the press release below. Carsharing is becoming more popular, and more visible, throughout the world, including the US. According to WardsAuto columnist John McElroy, 18 percent of US drivers have used some sort of carsharing service. Additionally, he says 60 percent of Americans are familiar with Zipcar and Uber. Mercedes' Harald Kroeger says promotions like free parking for carshares in Stuttgart are encouraging growth for Daimler's carsharing service, Car2go. Read more at WardsAuto. Ethanol is being help up by rail transport, according to ethanol producer Green Plains. More and more stations are carrying E15 blend gasoline, but grain producers have complained that crude oil is given higher priority by the rail lines shipping it, which rail companies deny. Union Pacific and BNSF Railway say they are stepping up service to make sure that ethanol can be shipped reliably to customers. Read more at Omaha World-Herald. General Motors "has placed a significant bet [on] the electrification of the automobile," says CEO Mary Barra. In a speech to the Detroit Economic Club this week, she spoke about the Chevrolet Volt, and its importance to GM's future. While Barra admits the Volt's success has been "not everything we wanted," it has provided experience, and shows that EVs have "an important role in the future of GM." The new Volt is more refined, stores more energy, has longer range, uses less fuel and is a big investment for Michigan. She announced that the new Volt's electric drive system will be built in Warren, and that all of its major components will be made in Michigan. "Silicon Valley doesn't have a corner on the market for innovation, creativity and drive," says Barra. "These qualities exist here – in this region – as well."
