1969 Camaro, Base Coupe. This car underwent a frame off restoration in 2014, and was refreshed again in 2017.
Mechanicals:
A new 350 engine from GM Performance, base crate 5.7L with oil pain, water pump, spark plugs, HEI GM Distributor, and valve covers in 2014 (approx. 3,000 total miles on it).
An Edelbrock Performer Intake with a 1406 Edelbrock 600 cfm carburetor was added this May. Also this May, new Delco spark plugs, MSD wires (custom), and an A-Team HEI distributor was added. A new fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator and gauge was also added (Mr. Gasket), and the carburetor was tuned for lean operation and nets about 15mpg. All new gaskets (intake, valve covers, carburetor, and thermostat), fluids, fuel hoses, vacuum lines, and overflow container we also installed. Radiator was flushed and filled with Prestone 50/50, and a 160 degree Edelbrock thermostat was added. Finished with Edelbrock air cleaner, valve covers, and oil breather and new PCV. Chrome plugs and screws from ARP finished the install.
Hoses were routed clean and clutter free to appropriate vacuum ports, and the car was timed to 12+ with 32+ using vacuum advance.
TH350 (3 speed) transmission rebuilt in 2014, in May of 2017 was drained, new JEGS filter replaced, gasket, and refill with Valvoline Synthetic. A new stainless Lokar Kick-Down cable was also routed to the carburetor (smash the gas and she drops into passing gear). New vacuum lines to carburetor were also ran. The output shaft seal was also replaced.
The rear end was drained, resealed, and refilled with Valvoline traditional 75w90 gear oil and GM Limited slip additive. It is a 10 bold posi-traction unit, and is spun with an aluminum driveshaft. U joints were new in 2014. Rear disc brakes are in very good condition. Shocks were new in 2014 and leaf springs appear to be original to the car.
Engine oil was changed with Valvoline 10w30 full synthetic and a WIX performance filter.
Custom headers (clearanced for power steering box), ceramic coated silver in 2014. JEGS spark plug wire looms, Optima Marine Grade blue top battery, and direct draw Sylvania Silver Star headlights in crystal housings were added.
Brake booster and heat protected flex bend steel brake lines with extensions and proper fittings lead to 4 wheel disc brakes.
American Racing Torque Thrust staggered aluminum wheels with very good BF Goodrich Tires (about 2,000 miles on them).
Delco 2 wire modern alternator. Summit high torque starter, and an anti-theft (deadman) hidden switch.
New power steering pump and high ratio (quick turn) steering box.
I have the old intake, other parts, and Holley carburetor if wanted. Will be included if desired.
It has a true “X” pipe flowmaster exhaust from the headers back, over the axle, and dumped under the car. All stainless and professionally hung.
Global West Suspension Upgrades:
Front upper and lower tubular control arms with coil over shocks (not adjustable).
Subframe to rear frame links by Global West (stiffens entire car).
Global West body bushings and subframe connector kit.
Car is aligned and track straight as an arrow.
Lower ball joint rubber needs to be replaced, but ball joints are in excellent shape.
Interior:
Front seats installed from a Chrysler Sebring (year estimated 2006). Headrests were removed and driver’s seat was mounted back for a tall man (can be put in factory mounts). The rear seat is original. Front and rear seats were wrapped in charcoal leather (not vinyl), and sewn/seamed to match the 1969 style. The front seats have integrated 3 point seatbelts. The rear seat has 3 new GM lap belts. The leather is in good shape, and shows normal wear for 3 years of use. The car smells good inside. No smoke smells, stains, or even a french fry between the seats.
Classic Air Industries R-134A ac unit with heater core was added in 2014. The unit was inspected and blows cold and fast. The center vent is cracked. It isn’t terrible to look at, but can be replaced for less than $100 dollars.
New high loop black carpet installed in 2014 with front and rear door panels, headliner, and the majority of the rubber was replaced, (although some is original).
Painless wiring fuse block (modern) and flashers were installed with all new wiring from the front to the rear of the car.
Retro Sound AM/FM/AUX stereo with Kicker speakers and crossovers give plenty of sound from the rear deck. There are no front speakers. It’s not my place to cut holes in kick panels or doors. The sound system is plenty good. The antenna is hidden under the dash board and no external antenna is present.
All dashboard indicators work, turn signals, high beams, and HVAC also work flawlessly.
Center console could use a refresh, it is original, but is functional and was painted black (to eliminate the wood grain). Glove box has a new insert, and ashtray/lighter are also new. Rear ashtray was glued shut (common fix for metal on metal rattles). It also needs a new dome light lense (also original).
New sunvisors with hardware installed last week.
Body:
New front clip sheet metal from AMD. Flat black painted Spoiler from AMD. All other metal appears original from the doors back. This car started life as a Glacier Blue V8 base coupe. The car was blasted, body worked, block sanded, and coated in red sealer and topped with GM Tuxedo Black 3 times and a single coat of PPG Clear. The car was wet sanded and buffed. It looks very good for a 3 year old black paint job. It was recently hand clayed, polished, waxed, and sealed, and shines amazing. People ask if it’s a new paint job. It does show some fine wash marks in certain lights, but overall looks great.
The side glass is original. The front and rear windshields are new installs (glued not gaskets).

GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR. GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?
Fri, Jul 21 2017General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.
