#1746 of 5174 & 1 of 704 Chrome Yellow 98 Cobras w/Black Leather. This car was originally a California car and was there from 1998 to 2012. It is in excellent condition both visually and mechanically with no leaks, rust, or problems. Everything works as it should and it has a clean Autocheck. Here is a list of extras on the car. Offroad X pipe, Flowmaster 40's, Eibach Pro Kit lowering springs with KYB adjustable shocks and struts, MSD ignition, 355 ring and pinion, 03' Terminator wheels (17x9 f & 17x10.5 r and are flawless, Hurst shifter, Pioneer stereo, tinted headlights, tinted wdws., gage pillar oil pressure and voltage gages (never hooked up), shorty antenna. I just put new tires on the front and the rears are aprox. 60% tread. Fire extinguisher mounted in rear floor area. I changed all the fluids in the car recently using full synthetic including the rearend, tranny, engine oil. Also has new coolant and brake fluid along with all others topped off with no leaks. I just replaced the reverse light switch along with a new idler pulley and tensioner assembly. Also just put new rear brakes on and fronts are aprox. 50%. I also just put a BBK clutch cable, quadrant, and firewall adjuster on as it still had the original cable and quadrant, The interior is in great condition with the drivers seat showing normal wear but no rips etc. Previous owner had just put a new Motorcraft battery in it 6 months ago. I also put a JLT catch can in line between pcv valve and intake to catch any oil vapors which is helpful on these engines. It also has Griggs billet caster /camber plates on it along with a C&L cold air kit. I believe that is a fairly complete list. As far as any flaws...it has a very small ding in the bottom of passenger door along with a few very minor chips that are difficult to see. The windshield is pitted (no breaks or cracks) from I assume normal wear and I would most likely put a new one in it in the future if I wasn't selling as I am kind of a perfectionist but not a huge deal. This car is an eye catcher and is very mechanically sound and visually excellent. The stance of it draws alot of compliments. Buyer will be responsible for setting up and paying for shipping unless otherwise agreed upon. I may be able to ship it as I have shipped several in the past but shipping costs would need to be negotiated between myself and the buyer. I am selling this car as is but I am 52 yrs. old and very picky and will not sell junk. I have fairly meticulolusly gone over the car and it will make someone a great ride. It recently won 1st place at a show in The Rocky Mts. with previous owner which should give an idea of it's condition and appeal. 2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven
Wed, Feb 8 2023POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods. However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows. Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS. Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence. Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

1983 Motorweek showdown pits Porsche 928S vs. Chevy Camaro Z28
Mon, Jan 12 2015Last month, Motor Trend threw the Camaro Z/28 and Porsche 911 GT3 into the bear pit and let them fight it out. Way back in 1983, MotorWeek had the same idea, comparing the Camaro Z/28 to the Porsche 928S. At the time, the Camaro was America's best selling sports coupe, the 928S was Porsche's top-of-the-line model that also had the highest top speed of any car sold here. And the price differential was even more stark then: $13,600 for the Camaro, $45,000 for the Porsche. That put the Z/28's cast-iron, 5.0-liter V8 with 190 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque against the all-aluminum 4.7-liter V8 with 234 hp and 263 lb-ft in the 928S. Even with that and the Camaro being 14 inches longer than the Porsche, the American was a surprising 40 pounds lighter than the German. The show took them to Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia to see how close a relative performance bargain could hang with a the German GT. Both had five-speed manual transmissions, but the high-speed corners and tight sections of Summit Point would test other handling variables, including the "bone-rattling" Camaro's solid rear axle and disc and drum brake setup vis-a-vis the four-wheel disc brakes and independent suspension on the "firm-but-smooth" Porsche. Paradoxically, the larger disparity 22 years ago resulted in a closer result. Check out the video to see how the Summit was won.
