1972 Chevy 4x4 Pickup on 2040-cars
Beloit, Wisconsin, United States
1972 Chevy truck this truck started life as a two wheel drive out east and then Alaska. I purchased this truck in 2004 along with a 3/4 ton 4x4 suburban. I put the pickup on the 4x4 suburban chassis and up graded the axles to a front Dana 44 and a rear full floating corporate 14 bolt. I up graded transmission to a turbo 400 and the transfer case I opted to use a 208 for durability and weight. I installed a 4 inch lift kit with extra heavy front spring because I was going to install a plow. I own a small custom shop and welded in panels were needed and painted it base coat clear very nice appealing color and terrific body work removing dents and all. This is not a "bondo" buggy I purchased clean doors and fenders and painted them but as with brand new vehicles there is some filler used in smoothing metal work. Truck has radio delete and the only gauge that works is oil pressure gauge the others I didn't hook up because I was going to put gauge pods on the hood. The motor is a 1969 corvette 350 motor " if need be ill verify this since it was my corvette it came from" I had all the machine work done at a local engine builder. The heads are 67 cc chamber heads with 202 intake valves "the good ones" motor was then painted to match the truck. Bed has spray in bed liner and a rubber mat. new front bumper and I have a brand new rear bumper that goes with the truck i just never put it on because I haven't purchased the brackets.New brakes, carburetor, and billet distributor. This thing runs and looks beautiful.
OK now the negative! This truck sat in storage since it was built in 2004 I just started driving it in august the windshield was cracked in storage, tailgate lost, in storage,it needs new rubber mat or carpet, seat needs to be recovered, gauges need to be hooked up and tailgate and bumper installed. It also has a leaky front transmission seal do to not being driven it dried out I think it could also use a new rear main seal because im sure this dried out from sitting too. All and all its a great dependable truck 4x4 works as it should starts and runs beautifully and is a real looker. I built this as a company truck to advertise my shop but built a suburban also and this just sat I now have too much other irons in the fire and need to get rid of some toys so good luck with the bidding and let me know if you have questions. I have many more pictures ps yes that is a hole on the cab mount but the side structure was replaced. ______________Oh I almost forgot I have the original bill of sale and the protecto- plate for the truck also.___________________________ |

Seeing the Detroit Auto Show via drone
Sun, Jan 18 2015Seeing the Chevrolet display at the Detroit Auto Show is worth doing this year, and not just because of the new Corvette Z06, Volt and Bolt concept. In order to attract the new kids, The Bowtie has gone what the old kids used to call "buck wild" with their show stand at Cobo Hall. A Corvette Z06, Trax, and Colorado are parked along a central aisle, called Mainstreet, at the end of which is a 20-foot-tall, 73-foot long transparent screen lording over the new Volt. Elsewhere are five more 20-foot-tall screens broadcasting nine stories today's Chevrolet wants to tell about its vehicles, from performance to belief in the power of play to its 4G LTE-equipped OnStar telematics service. Then there are the social media and virtual reality safety installations, the community presentations and more. Chevrolet flew a drone through the stand to show off what it's doing, which is has replaced eye-level video as the next best thing to being there. You can check it out in the video above.
Junkyard Gem: 1985 Chevrolet Sprint
Thu, May 21 2020For in the 1985 model year, General Motors began selling Chevrolet-badged Suzuki Cultus hatchbacks in California. Sales of the cheap three-cylinder econobox in the rest of North America followed soon after (with the Canadian version known as the Pontiac Firefly), and did pretty well considering the crash in gasoline prices during the middle 1980s. Starting in 1988, the facelifted Sprint became the Geo (and, later on, Chevrolet) Metro. Here's one of the very first Cultuses sold on our shores, found in a San Francisco Bay Area car graveyard. Amazingly, the primitive rear-wheel-drive Chevrolet Chevette remained available all the way through 1987, competing with the thriftier front-wheel-drive Sprint in the same showrooms. For 1988, Pontiac started selling a rebadged Daewoo LeMans, so the Sprint/Metro never lacked for intra-corporate competition. Inside, you'll find the same stuff most mid-1980s Japanese econoboxes got: tough cloth upholstery and long-wearing hard plastics. Suzuki quality in 1985 wasn't quite up to Honda or Toyota levels, but you weren't paying Honda or Toyota prices for the Sprint. MSRP on this car started at $4,949, or about $12,000 in 2020 dollars. The cheapest possible 1985 Chevette cost $5,340, while a new no-frills Ford Escort would set you back $5,620. Subaru, however, could have put you in a punitively unappointed base-model Leone hatchback for just 40 bucks more than the Sprint that year. I think I'd have sprung the extra for a $5,348 Toyota Tercel, a $5,195 Mazda GLC, or— best cheap-commuter deal of all that year— the $5,399 Honda Civic 1300 hatchback. I was 19 years old and driving a Competition Orange 1968 Mercury Cyclone that year, and I recall feeling pity for Chevy Sprint drivers, new-car smell or not. Still, these weren't bad cars for the price, though a Sprint with an automatic transmission was a real character-builder. Got three cylinders and uses 'em all! 48 horsepower from this hemi-headed SOHC 1-liter. The Turbo Sprint — yes, such a car existed — had a howling 70 horsepower. The hood-latch release is a rectangular button that resembles a badge. 1985 Chevy Sprint Commercial The highest-mileage, lowest-priced car you can buy. 1985 holden barina commercial The Australian-market version was the Holden Barina, and the TV ads featured the Road Runner. 1983 SUZUKI CULTUS Ad In its homeland, this car got screaming guitars and a drive through New York City for its TV commercials.
2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD fires up its new diesel motor
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Ever since General Motors confirmed plans to produce a diesel-powered Cruze back in 2011, we've been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And as part of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet has pulled back the cover on its oil-burning compact sedan, set to go on sale in the near future with a starting price of $25,695, not including $810 for destination.
The heart and soul of the Cruze TD (that's its official name) is a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine also has an overboost function that will increase torque to 280 lb-ft for up to ten seconds. The full brace of official specs haven't been released, but GM tells us that highway fuel economy will come in at 42 miles per gallon. If that number sounds familiar, it's because the Volkswagen Jetta TDI has the exact same rating. Unlike the Jetta, however, the Cruze TD can run on B20 biodiesel, where as the Volkswagen can only accept B5.
Model-specific changes to this 2014 Cruze TD include an aero kit and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there's a full leather interior, and Chevrolet will provide two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, not to mention a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
