Hello,

“Stinky” - MYBAD68 – The finest most Gorgeous Truck you will ever find!

OVER $35,000. INVESTED IN THIS BEAUTY!

Why the name “Stinky” you ask? I have a friend of mine who is a professional pin stripper and painter who hand paint the stripping and graphics you see on my truck, the name “Stinky” on the cowl hood, the” PEPE LE PEW” skunk on the tail gate and the dice by the door handles. When I first got the truck it had a gasoline smell that I just couldn’t seem to find or get rid of. I replaced everything I could think of even taking the custom Boyd gas tank down 3 times replacing everything, resealing everything but it still smelled like gasoline. My wife got in the habit of calling it “Stinky” and the name just stuck. I finally replaced all the fuel injected gas lines and pump with all new and that ended up being the problem, no more gas smell but he is still known as “stinky”! Hence the name “Stinky” on the custom cowl hood and the custom hand painted “PePe Le Pew” on the tail gate! I also had him add some custom dice to the outside of the 2 doors. All the hand painted items can be removed easily if the new owner doesn’t like them.

Up for auction is “Stinky” my “BAD” 1968 Chevy customized 1/2 ton short bed pickup truck. It had a fresh complete frame off restoration just a couple of years ago. Everything has been replaced and up-graded. I have a large 3 ring binder showing the restoration project from start to finish. It is painted a BEAUTIFUL Corvette “Lemans” blue color and has tan leather folding bucket seats out of a new 2012 Odyssey and tan and brown leatherette interior, headliner and door panels. It has a 5.3L Vortex fuel injected engine with the matching automatic 460 transmission and all the computer hook ups that came out of a newer GMC truck with only 10,000 miles on it. It has a custom billet “TILT” steering wheel with matching color padding.  The truck has been lowered 2" in the front and 4" in the rear. It has new tires and “BOSS” mag rims with power disc brakes all the way around, the exterior has been shaved and smoothed and all the trim pieces have been removed. The bed area is just as beautiful as the exterior painted the same color with a rubber bed mat and even has a lockable safe in the bed for your valuables or guns, etc. I just finished putting in power windows and a Bulldog remote “TALKING” security alarm system. I also just installed a new flip touch screen DVD/CD AM/FM IPod stereo player that you can leave flipped out or hidden in the dash, with a hidden powered antenna. The stereo system has 6 speakers with an amplifier system. The underneath portion of this truck is also completed painted and finished off. Stinky has flow master forty series dual exhaust run to the rear of the truck with chrome tips, the sound is incredible! Stinky is really fast but yet gets great gas mileage with the newer vortex engine. It has a new custom cowl hood and all new instrument gauges by Auto-Meter, Pro-Comp, Ultralight. It has new Vintage air conditioning and heat with the vents cut and installed in the dash. Custom Billet instrument gauge bezel and matching Billet glove box door. I also just installed new Euro crystal headlights with 7” amber LED aux lights in the seal beam and a new BI-XENON HID kit for super neat brightness (these really look cool and do a great job lighting things up). I have new LED front amber indicator lights and all side lights have been shaved and recessed for a clean look. Truck has all the windows tinted with a chrome / billet rear view mirror with matching blue flames. It also has brand new swan neck chrome / billet hot rod outside door mirrors. Everything is finished and completed on this beauty!

Stinky also has hot jet coated headers and the engine compartment is fully painted and customized! I installed a on board battery charger/tender under the hood next to the battery and all you have to do to keep the battery fully charged is plug it in when  not in use.

It has a custom stainless steel 20 gallon Boyd gas tank located under the bed in the rear of the truck (no gas tank behind the seat for added room!).  The tires and wheels are 255 75R 18". It has power disc brakes, power steering, custom American wiring, everything you can image! Take a look at all the pictures and if you need more information or more pictures contact me.

This Gorgeous hotrod sits and stands like it should the outside profile looks fabulous - no disappointments!

Stinky has always been garage kept and been maintained by professional classic car mechanics. I have all the records and receipts for the things I have done. I have a clear title with no problems.

I have only entered it in one car show here locally and it took first place and I will include the trophy with the sale. It drives and handles like a beauty. The truck only had approximately 900 miles on the rebuild when I purchased it and it only has 1650 miles on it now as indicated by the odometer. Has a new steel bed painted the same color and a custom Gaylord fiberglass matching bed topper with underneath lights.

I have tried to list all the extra options and added parts but it literally has just about everything and I am sure I have missed a few things. No dings, scratches, dents rust or other problems. There are no disappointments with this truck, you will be extremely happy with it. This is a classic and extreme care has been taken to make sure it got the very best of everything however it is a 1968 that has been rebuilt and there is no warranty. When you buy it you will be buying it “as is”, “where is” and the buyer will be responsible for transportation and or pick up. I will expect a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.00 through PayPal or in cash or direct bank deposit within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The remainder amount will be due within 5 working days and before the truck is picked up. I will only take cash or a direct bank deposit into my banking account for the balance.

The truck is available for inspection by calling me and making arrangements. The truck is also for sale here locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it does not reach the reserve price or it sells locally.

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land

Thu, Oct 15 2015

Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Poor headlights cause 40 cars to miss IIHS Top Safety Pick rating

Mon, Aug 6 2018

Over the past few months, we've noticed a number of cars and SUVs that have come incredibly close to earning one of the IIHS's highest accolades, the Top Safety Pick rating. They have great crash test scores and solid automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning systems. What trips them up is headlights. That got us wondering, how many vehicles are there that are coming up short because they don't have headlights that meet the organization's criteria for an "Acceptable" or "Good" rating. This is a revision made after 2017, a year in which headlights weren't factored in for this specific award. This is also why why some vehicles, such as the Ford F-150, might have had the award last year, but have lost it for this year. We reached out to someone at IIHS to find out. He responded with the following car models. Depending on how you count, a whopping 40 models crash well enough to receive the rating, but don't get it because their headlights are either "Poor" or "Marginal." We say depending on how you count because the IIHS actual counts truck body styles differently, and the Infiniti Q70 is a special case. Apparently the version of the Q70 that has good headlights doesn't have adequate forward collision prevention technology. And the one that has good forward collision tech doesn't have good enough headlights. We've provided the entire list of vehicles below in alphabetical order. Interestingly, it seems the Volkswagen Group is having the most difficulty providing good headlights with its otherwise safe cars. It had the most models on the list at 9 split between Audi and Volkswagen. GM is next in line with 7 models. It is worth noting again that though these vehicles have subpar headlights and don't quite earn Top Safety Pick awards, that doesn't mean they're unsafe. They all score well enough in crash testing and forward collision prevention that they would get the coveted award if the lights were better.

First 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06 engine blows up at just 891 miles

Thu, Jan 1 2015

You've waited and watched and waited some more for the arrival of your 650-horsepower, $78,000 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Finally, that joyous day arrives and you eagerly, but gingerly, begin to break-in the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 monster under your hood. Then 900-odd miles after delivery, your excitement grinds, quite literally, to a halt. That's what the owner of one 2015 Z06 claimed happened to him when a simple break-in drive resulted in a lunched engine. The owner, known as Lawdogg149 on Corvette Forum, says he was out breaking-in his car ahead of a January track event when it happened. "While making a pull from 35 miles per hour, I accelerated and shifted short of redline, and boom - the car began knocking. I pulled over and popped the hood. I could hear a loud knock coming from the No. 6 cylinder area along with a serious, grinding, metal-on-metal sound coming from the supercharger area," Lawdogg wrote. A subsequent trip to the dealer confirmed his concerns, with the service facility telling Lawdogg that the No. 6 valvetrain had failed. The dealer couldn't research the issue further, though, as General Motors requested the engine be returned for a more thorough evaluation. The good news for the Z06's unlucky owner, at least, is that GM will be covering the engine replacement under warranty, an expense that Corvette Forum estimates is a nearly $24,000 procedure. At this point, the two leading theories behind the engine's detonation involve a manufacturing defect – which could be why GM is so keen to tear the blown powerplant down – or a mistake on the part of Lawdogg. As Motor Authority points out, such an error could be something as simple as the Z06's owner accidentally shifting to first rather than third during his 35-mph pull. If, however, there's a deeper manufacturing problem with the Z06's engine, this might not be the only case we end up hearing about.
