For sale is my 1980 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd truck that I just finished putting together. 454 Big Block Chevy, with a TH 400 automatic. 454 was a good used engine that I installed the following NEW parts: Polished dual plane intake, HEI, neck, valve covers, water pump, fuel pump, air cleaner, plugs, wires, fan, belts, & alt. Used 770 Holley street avenger carb, runs GREAT. New headers and 3" exhaust dumps under back of cab, new flowmaster knock-off type mufflers, sounds awesome. New battery and cables, starter, radiator, overflow tank. TH400 was good used, but I went ahead and put in a new filter. New u-joints front and rear. New front calipers, pads, rubber lines, and hard lines in the front. New rear shoes and turned the drums, replaced one wheel cylinder and brake line. New master cylinder as well. New gas tank, straps, fill neck also. Non-posi rear. Aluminum wheels with 15in tires, not all that great. Will need replaced soon, pretty old/used. The whole reason I built this truck was because the body was so nice. Completely rust free front to rear, minus one quarter size hole in the pass side cab corner, which I replaced. ALL GM SHEETMETAL. Except for the NEW steel cowl hood, and both the NEW inner fenders. Bodywork and paint didn't turn out too bad, but not a show truck. Just a cheap single stage paint job. NEW Dee Zee polished caps on the bed, and a roll on bedliner kit. NEW grille, extensions, headlights, turns, marker lights, taillights and housings, 454 emblems not factory, but cool I thought. The interior is pretty sweet as well. NEW carpet, headliner, and seat upholstery from LMC. Good used door panels, dash, and trims. Power windows work, but are slow, new window motors included with truck. Has power locks, but do not work, never tried to fix. Power steering and brakes, Air Conditioning truck, but missing the line sets. Compressor, condenser, etc. are there. Also was a Cruise control equipped cab, but not hooked up or working. Tilt column, nice steering wheel. Cab has a new switch for the dual tank option, but only has drivers side tank in it. The cap on the pass side of the truck is just a dummy. NEW door seals, window fuzzy, channels, windshield seal. NEW wheel opening moldings, and one new mirror. Very cool truck, that I hate to sell. Over $8000 invested in hard cash, and over 150 hours of labor. But, need to pay off my CCard debt, or my wife will kill me...8 cars is too many I guess...
Sold as is, where is. Come with cash and drive it home. I require a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE PayPal deposit within 24hrs of auction end, rest in cash within 7days. I would consider PayPal if you pay all the fees. Please come look if you can, always best if possible. |

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car
Thu, 14 Feb 2013It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]
Thu, 13 Dec 2012Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
