1988 Chevrolet C1500 std cab short bed.   This truck was my driver w/ continual upgrades due to either wear or added performance. Truck has mostly been used the last 10 years for traveling to swap meets, one leg of Hot Rod Power Tour, and backup vehicle attending Goodguys Events in KC.   Chrome smoothie front bumper, 1998 Chevrolet grille, parklights, reflectors and front bumper stone deflector. 1995 and newer Chevrolet trucks required different bumper brackets to move bumper slightly forward due to grille design.  Used original to keep the bumper tucked in for a tighter look.  Also to set the truck apart, retained 1988 mini halogen headlights.  Front suspension has Belltech drop kit -2" dropped spindles and 1" drop springs, Hellwig large front sway bar.  Engine upgraded from factory 305 V8 to a 1991 Chevrolet 350.  Engine had 91,000 miles.  Overhauled w/ rings, gaskets, timing chain set, Crane Compucam kit.  "Powermax 2020"  Block was not machined due to very little wear when inspected.  Hone marks still seen.  Heads were surfaced, valves checked-margins w/in spec.  Guide wear very minimal.  Valves lapped and check for pattern and seal.  Original aluminum TBI intake, 350 TBI w/ Spacer plate.  Correct ECM prom for the 350 swap. Ceramic coated shorty headers with Flowmaster Force II exhaust kit. (#17125).  Transmission was overhauled due to wear. GM upgrades. Built to heavy duty performance specs.  New 3-4 clutch kit, drum, Hi-Energy band, HD input sprag, new planetary, frt pump machined.  Heavy duty converter.  Auxillary  trans. cooler.  Interior features new GM plastic interior panels, visors, rear view mirror, headliner.  Split bench from a 1994 C1500.  ACC carpet with Lloyd floor mats.  1993 gauge package w/ tach.  Mileage reads slightly higher than original odometer (2,000).   Interior color is original 2-tone red.  Factory tilt, cruise. Billet leather wrapped steering wheel dyed to match interior.  No power windows or locks.  Was next planned upgrade.  A/m cd player bit the dust w/ in the last month-am/fm works only.  Dash speakers and rear cab corner speakers from Crutchfield.  Professionally installed side and back glass window tint.  Herculiner bed coating-very durable and holding up very well.  Bed was correctly prepped and cleaned prior to coating. The results of meeting w/ Herculiner techs on Hot Rod Power Tour!  In tank ful pump replaced w/in last 20,000 miles.  Tailgate has latch relocated to the inside.  Rear roll pan-now showing cracks on the ends.  Hidden receiver hitch.  Rear suspension has 4" Belltech lowering kit w/ Hellwig rear sway bar.  Wheels are American Racing Torque Thrust II (17 x 8) front and rear.  Tires front-Toyo 255/60R17. Rear-Toyo 275/60R17.   Check photos-driver's door showing signs of rust at flange. passenger side shows less.  Will include one new GM door skin for the right door.  Left side of hood shows area where paint started peeling.  This truck was completely refinished before I had originally purchased.  These trucks when new were known for peeling of factory paint. Lot of reading, but wanted to clarify what your looking at.   Fair reserve.

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. GM investing $167m in Spring Hill for new midsize vehicles

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

General Motors has announced a large investment in its Spring Hill, Tennessee facility. The former home of Saturn production will be getting a $167 million addition to a previously announced $183 million, to cover a pair of new midsize vehicles. The investment is expected to create 1,800 jobs at the factory.
That $350 million is being divvied up for a pair of programs at Spring Hill. The first will take the bulk of the money ($223 million) and create 1,000 of the 1,800 jobs, while the other will take the remaining $127 million and generate the leftover 800 positions. But GM says the investment will cover "midsize vehicle programs." So what could they be?
The leading candidate in our minds is a new crossover for Buick, called the Anthem, that will slot between the Encore and Enclave, but will be slightly smaller than the Equinox and Terrain. As we've explained, the new model will likely be the first product to sport GM's new D2UX platform, which will eventually replace both the Delta and Theta platforms. Spring Hill is already building the Equinox, so there could be some credence to this theory.

Autoblog's Editors' Picks: Our complete list of the best new vehicles

Mon, May 13 2024

It's not easy to earn an “EditorsÂ’ Picks” at Autoblog as part of the rating and review process that every new vehicle goes through. Our editors have been at it a long time, which means weÂ’ve driven and reviewed virtually every new car you can go buy on the dealer lot. There are disagreements, of course, and all vehicles have their strengths and weaknesses, but this list features what we think are the best new vehicles chosen by Autoblog editors. We started this formal review process back in 2018, so there's quite of few of them now. So what does it mean to be an EditorsÂ’ Pick? In short, it means itÂ’s a car that we can highly recommend purchasing. There may be one, multiple, or even zero vehicles in any given segment that we give the green light to. What really matters is that itÂ’s a vehicle that weÂ’d tell a friend or family member to go buy if theyÂ’re considering it, because itÂ’s a very good car. The best way to use this list is is with the navigation links below. Click on a segment, and you'll quickly arrive at the top rated pickup truck or SUV, for example. Use the back button to return to these links and search in another segment, like sedans. If youÂ’ve been keeping up with our monthly series of the latest vehicles to earn EditorsÂ’ Pick status, youÂ’re likely going to be familiar with this list already. If not, welcome to the complete list that weÂ’ll be keeping updated as vehicles enter (and others perhaps exit) the good graces of our editorial team. We rate a new car — giving it a numerical score out of 10 — every time thereÂ’s a significant refresh or if it happens to be an all-new model. Any given vehicle may be impressive on a first drive, but we wait until itÂ’s in the hands of our editors to put it through the same type of testing as every other vehicle that rolls through our test fleet before giving it the EditorsÂ’ Pick badge. This ensures consistency and allows more voices to be heard on each individual model. And just so you donÂ’t think weÂ’ve skipped trims or variants of a model, we hand out the EditorsÂ’ Pick based on the overarching model to keep things consistent. So, when you read that the 3 Series is an EditorsÂ’ Pick, yes, that includes the 330i to the M3 and all the variants in between. If thereÂ’s a particular version of that car we vehemently disagree with, we make sure to call that out.
