1972 Chevy K10 4x4 frame off restored pickup completed three weeks ago with 350 test/tune miles on it. This truck
was built for a family member to be a daily driving show quality vehicle. This truck was spared no expense, dream
vehicle intended to keep for many years, unforeseen circumstances force sale. I’ve restored 3 dozen 67-72 Chevy
& GMC trucks, this is the best one I’ve done, this truck was the best core to start with I’ve seen. I’ll
briefly describe the major points below, more detail in the video. I live in the prime region for rust free trucks,
I found this truck in the high desert of eastern Oregon, 1 family owned. This truck blew its original motor in
1981 with 36k original miles, was parked in a garage until I bought it in 2014. Not one pin hole of rot in this
entire truck prior to restoration, all metal is original to truck. This is a factory 1972 4x4 pickup. Everything is
new or refurbished, our shop cost was $56,800 on this build, paying any shop retail would be quite a bit more, near
impossible to find a 100% rust and accident free 72 4x4 Chevy truck to begin with. Not too many 4x4 pickups built
like this, costs quite a bit more than a 2wd to build. Save money and time, buy this truck and be driving it within
a few days
MECHANICAL
Small Block Chevy balanced 383 stroker. Complete SCAT bottom end, forged everything, 1 piece LT1 block, Edelbrock
Performer RPM aluminum heads, hydraulic roller cam and rockers (no constant adjustment with hydraulic), aluminum
intake, Edelbrock 4 barrel electric choke carburetor, stainless headers, HEI electronic distributor, all ARP
fasteners, electric fuel pump. Built to run on 91/92 premium fuel, motor is 450 HP 500 FT TQ with this carburetor.
We opted for the Edelbrock for ease of use, this motor can get close to 500 HP with a performance Holley, but less
reliable. This is a $9400 motor with the best of the best name brand parts, everything new. The motor was broke in
prior to installation. Dual exhaust with Flowmaster 50 series mufflers (great sound without being obnoxious).
Oversize 4 core radiator with dual electric adjustable fans on custom made shroud. Rebuilt TH-350 automatic
transmission with a shift kit and hole-shot TQ converter set up perfect for this 4x4. Custom strengthened and
balanced drive lines, rebuilt gear driven bullet proof 205 transfer case. Front and rear axles have 4340 chromoly
axle shafts, they have Richmond 4.11 gears, both axles have Richmond limited slip lockers, they are the street
friendly versions, put the power to it in snow or mud and you have 4 wheel posi. Front axle has power disc brakes,
Warn hubs, 6 in lift kit on the front and a 4 in on the back with proper steering geometry, stabilizer and extended
stainless brake lines. Most lifts have a rake to them, we engineered this lift to be level as we think it looks
much better. Rebuilt power steering (1 finger turn). 35/13.5./15 Toyo Mud Terrain tires on 10 in wide aluminum
wheels with full size spare. All Chevy front axles track wider than the rear, the look is terrible, so we evened up
the rear with wheel spacers so the tires are aligned correctly. We gave this truck incredible attention to all the
little details. Under power when 1st shifts to 2nd it will bark these 35’s. Synthetic fluids in everything. We
built the truck to handle the power and torque of this motor.
BODY
All original metal/panels/frame it was born with. 100% rot free to begin with, time capsule as the motor let go in
1981, sat garaged until I bought in 2014. Everything completely disassembled and painted with high quality base
coat clear coat in Ice Cream White (color code taped inside glove box). Wet sanded for a beautiful smooth finish.
Best drip rails I’ve ever seen on a 67-72 truck. We Linexed under the hood, inner fenders, fender wells, bed,
under bed, under cab and the front lip of the bed that typically gets rock chips. Linex is great for sound
deadening, heat and chip protection. The cab and inner doors are insulated for sound and heat protection. The frame
is coated semi-gloss with POR-15. The reproduction parts came from LMC truck which are the most expensive, but best
in quality. Rather than list every new part, I’ll just say it’s all new. Uncut radio dash, we installed a new
IPOD ready stereo that looks vintage, with 4 quality speakers (we did not cut up the doors) 2 speakers under dash,
2 speakers behind the seats hard mounted. We removed the in cab fuel tank and installed an aftermarket tank under
the bed. We did not do the eye sore 67-72 fuel door install that is common, but custom welded in a clean hatch.
Autometer tachometer mounted inside the gauge cluster. Notice you don’t see wires or hoses going everywhere,
extensive time spent looming and hiding all of it that we could for that clean look. We installed large side
mirrors so we can actually use them, the little sport mirrors are near worthless. All these upgrades come from
experienced people whom have owned and built dozens of these trucks, we’ve found out over trial and error what
does and doesn’t work.
This truck was a restorer’s dream come true at the start. The end result is so much better with a start like
this, there was no body damage or rust, so very little body work was needed. There is no way anyone could build a
67-72 truck to this level to sell, the cost exceeds the value, take advantage of this situation, this is a brand
new restoration with test/tune miles on it only. There is a big difference between a 15 year old restoration and a
brand new one that may not show up in pics, but surely do in person.

GM invests $24 million to build more crew cab trucks in Fort Wayne
Thu, May 30 2019The full-size pickup truck arms race continues unabated here in the United States as Ford, General Motors and Fiat Chrysler battle back and forth for sales supremacy. The Ford F-Series of trucks continues to lead the field in sales (214,611 units sold through the first quarter of 2019), but the race for second place has been a lot more interesting to watch. That's because Ram, long a distant third in truck sales, eked its way past Chevrolet late in 2018 and has managed to hold the position so far in 2019. Don't take this to mean that sales of GM's trucks have been poor across the board. In fact, the automaker reports that sales of its four-door crew cab pickups are up 20 percent in 2019 over the same period a year ago. And that's what makes GM's announcement today so interesting. The automaker is investing $24 million into its assembly plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana to build more Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickup trucks, and the focus will continue to be on crew cab models. "We are building Chevrolet and GMC crew cab pickups at record volume and mix levels to meet customer demand and the $24 million investment will allow us to build even more," said GM chief Mary Barra in a statement. "Crew cab sales have been very strong, and we are expanding customer choice with new models, more cab choices and innovative new powertrains." It's worth noting that, if crew cab sales are up 20% this year, but overall sales are down (over 15% for Silverado and around 2% for GMC), that means it's the cheaper regular cab and double cab models that are lagging. At the same time, sales of the midsize Chevy Colorado have surged 16%. And finally, if you combine sales of the Silverado and Sierra into one bucket, GM still has a comfortable lead over Ram overall. If there's a takeaway here, it's that trucks of all shapes and sizes have been, currently are and will surely remain hot in America, and automakers will continue to invest money into making sure they are able to satiate consumer demand.
Mark Reuss: GM can't afford product 'misses,' has 'thought about' CT6 V-Series
Thu, Apr 9 2015Mark Reuss is a busy man. He oversees General Motors' global product portfolio, an all-encompassing task for a company that sold more than 9.9 million cars and trucks last year. When GM launches a well-received product, like the road-going rocket ship that is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – he gets credit. When the company stumbles with the slow-selling Chevy Malibu or grapples with fallout from the decade-old Saturn Ion and its flawed ignition switch, he gets blamed. GM owners, the press and sometimes the federal government, demand answers. Bob Lutz famously held the job before Reuss. So did Mary Barra, who's now GM's chief executive. There's a New GM, but the lineage is connected to a long history. When he's not thinking product, Reuss, an executive vice president, also runs the purchasing and supply chain for the company, which is still one of the largest industrial empires in the world. We caught up with Reuss on the floor of the New York Auto Show, where GM had just rolled out two crucial new products: the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Speaking with a small group of reporters, Reuss delved into a variety of subjects, including the new Malibu, Cadillac's future (he thinks the ATS-V is going to "flame the M3 and M4"), and other topics. On fixing the Malibu: "We can't miss. We can't have those kinds of misses [like the previous generation] on our cars and crossovers and trucks. We can't do that. If we do that, we give a reason for someone to go buy something else. It's that simple. "On a car like the Malibu we have a chance to really fix all of that, which we have, and then lead. Then you've got a real opportunity there. So that's what we've really been focused on here – to fix those things." He later added: "We need that car here to transform Chevrolet desperately because it's the heart of the market. And when you think of Chevrolet, people will come back and think about what we did with the [new] Malibu and the Cruze... It's hugely important to us." On Cadillac: "If we go out and try and out-German the Germans, it's probably not going to work. We've got an opportunity here generationally where there's a lot of people younger than me that have parents that drove BMWs and Mercedes, and I think there's an opportunity there for those people to drive something different than what their parents did, and I think that's always been an opportunity in the auto industry if you look at the history of it.
Chevy rolls out Silverado HD High Country
Wed, 09 Apr 2014It's been a good week for heavy-duty truck buyers. First, Ram revealed the Black Package for its HD trucks, then it rolled out its new Power Wagon, and now Chevy's getting in on the action with its Silverado High Country HD. Okay, so it may not pack quite the attitude of Ram's latest 2500-series offerings, but the High Country HD will come as a welcome addition to the Chevy Trucks range to those looking to pull their horse, boat or other trailer without skimping on creature comforts.
Rolled out a little under a year ago, the High Country trim is Chevy's answer to the likes of the GMC Denali, Ford King Ranch and Ram Longhorn. It has until now only been offered on the light duty, 1500-series Silverado, but now extends to the 2500 and 3500-series HD models, as well.
So what sets a High Country pickup apart from lesser Chevy trucks? You'll be able to pick it out based on its chrome horizontal grille, body-color bumpers, 6-inch tubular side steps, 20-inch chrome wheels (18-inch on the 3500 and 17-inch on the dualie) and, of course, plenty of special badging. But it's inside where the High Country makes its mark, with a cabin decked out in saddle brown perforated leather, seats that are both heated and cooled, eight-inch touchscreen with full MyLink suite, Bose audio and park assist functions front and rear to keep those color-keyed bumpers looking fresh. (Though Chevy hasn't yet showed us the interior of the HD model, it'll presumably look mostly the same as the cab in the 1500 High Country in the gallery below.)
