I love this truck but time to go,a lot of people ask if its for sale and i always said no.then i woke up this morning and decided to sell everything i have.(cars trucks and a moped). just bored with everything. listing this on ebay in hopes of selling this truck far enough away so i dont see it driving around here cause i am going to miss it. i have owned it since july 2004. was told by previous owner that it started out as a napa delivery truck in arizona.with a 6 cylinder! engine is a fresh 355 big cam 202 heads. 500 miles on rebuild. roller rockers. engine needs fine tuning, timing and a new carb but runs good just hesitates of idle.cruises good rides nice considering its slammed. turbo 350 trans that shifts hard and has a stall converter. rear end could use lower gears to compensate for the tall rear tires. vintage heat and air that blows hard and cold. dont drive it in the winter so dont know about the heat. flowmaster mufflers with dual exhaust. sounds great especially idle. big loapy cam. interior and door jambs are rough but SO WHAT!!!!!!! floor pans are sloid could use outer cab mounts and inner rockers but doesnt effect coolness at all. bed has some rust spots inside(cleaned them up and painted over , not real nice but looks alright)  but the outer panels are nice and what little rust was there was metal patched.tailgate is aftermarket that got bashed from something rolling in the bed but isnt noticable from the outside, has custom grinded metal flames painted on it. outer cab is nice!cab corners rockers replaced. new windshield and rubber.louvered hood. grill surround and bumpers a little dinged up but arent bad  grill center is nice and painted black. flames are painted with house of color candy green with red striping. truck has been painted with 2 part satin black june 2012. original color was gold. mcgaughys dropped spindles and coils with 7inches up front and 5 in back. nice rake to the truck..20x10 rear 20x8 american racing wheels. new brake calipers and lines up front and new non power master clinder. 3 year old aluminum radiator. this truck is far from perfect but shows well body is straight and looks clean. ITS A SHORT BED!!!!!! their is some old rust bubbles above the visor area where the seam sealer to the roof dried up but the outside was resealed just didnt mess with the interior, thats where you come into the picture. as the new owner you can drive it the way it is as i have and still get attention every where, or redo the interior and whatever else you plan on and have an even more badass truck. any question just ask. THANKS FOR LOOKING.

Cadillac CT6 production ceases January 2020 as part of D-Ham layoffs

Fri, Dec 6 2019

General Motors filed paperwork under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act with Michigan's Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity this week, detailing events to come at the automaker's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Starting February 28, 814 salaried and hourly workers at D-Ham, as its called, will be laid off. The 753 workers represented by the UAW will begin receiving offers in January to relocate to facilities in Michigan and Ohio, or buyout offers. As the 4-million-square-foot plant winds down through April 3 to a skeleton crew, the Cadillac CT6 ceases production in January 2020, and the last Chevrolet Impala comes off the line on February 28. The loss of the CT6 represents the end of Cadillac's latest brief, and highly regarded, adventure into flagship sedans. It might also mean the end of the 4.2-liter Blackwing twin-turbo V8 engine, at least for the moment. Both casualties are calamities. The death of the Impala closes the door on a nameplate in production for 52 years since 1957, having started off as a top-tier trim for the 1958 Bel Air known as the Bel Air Impala, once advertised with the line, "Lets you know you're the boss." As part of the new four-year labor agreement with the UAW, GM is keeping D-Ham open to build a new line of battery-electric vehicles, ultimately investing $3 billion and tripling employment to 2,225 workers when fully operational. The agreement described the coming EV as a "van" that would commence production in late 2021, but various reports say what's actually coming is a range of premium EVs in pickup and SUV bodystyles under the program codename BT1. The easy predictions put an electric GMC Sierra and Cadillac Escalade among the EV fold, but not until 2023, according to auto industry forecaster LMC Automotive. Before that, LMC claims an electric van will debut in late 2021, along with a battery-powered rebirth of the Hummer brand in pickup and SUV forms, also in late 2021.

GM won't really kill off the Chevy Volt and Cadillac CT6, will it?

Fri, Jul 21 2017

General Motors is apparently considering killing off six slow-selling models by 2020, according to Reuters. But is that really likely? The news is mentioned in a story where UAW president Dennis Williams notes that slumping US car sales could threaten jobs at low-volume factories. Still, we're skeptical that GM is really serious about killing those cars. Reuters specifically calls out the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Sonic, and the Chevrolet Volt. Most of these have been redesigned or refreshed within the past few model years. Four - the LaCrosse, Impala, CT6, and Volt - are built in the Hamtramck factory in Detroit. That plant has made only 35,000 cars this year - down 32 percent from 2016. A typical GM plant builds 200,000-300,000 vehicles a year. Of all the cars Williams listed, killing the XTS, Impala, and Sonic make the most sense. They're older and don't sell particularly well. On the other hand, axing the other three seems like an odd move. It would leave Buick and Cadillac without flagship sedans, at least until the rumored Cadillac CT8 arrives. The CT6 was a big investment for GM and backing out after just a few years would be a huge loss. It also uses GM's latest and best materials and technology, making us even more skeptical. The Volt is a hugely important car for Chevrolet, and supplementing it with a crossover makes more sense than replacing it with one. Offering one model with a range of powertrain variants like the Hyundai Ioniq and Toyota Prius might be another route GM could take. All six of these vehicles are sedans, Yes, crossover sales are booming, but there's still a huge market for cars. Backing away from these would be essentially giving up sales to competitors from around the globe. The UAW might simply be publicly pushing GM to move crossover production to Hamtramck to avoid closing the plant and laying off workers. Sales of passenger cars are down across both GM and the industry. Consolidating production in other plants and closing Hamtramck rather than having a single facility focus on sedans might make more sense from a business perspective. GM is also trying to reduce its unsold inventory, meaning current production may be slowed or halted while current cars move into customer hands. There's a lot of politics that goes into building a car. GM wants to do what makes the most sense from a business perspective, while the UAW doesn't workers to lose their jobs when a factory closes.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
