I started this project about three years and for the last year and a half, since moving from California to Missouri, it has just sat in my garage.  I just don't have the time to finish it.  You are bidding on a beautiful 1965 Chevrolet C10 short bed truck.  It is a frame off restoration and has absolutely zero rust.  There is no bondo whatsoever.  There was some rust in the floor boards and rocker panels but they have been cut out and replaced.  The paint is white PPG inside and out except for the bumpers and grill, which are gun metal grey PPG.  I am the third owner of the vehicle.  The truck was bought new by Northeastern State University in Talequah, Oklahoma.  In 1972 a doctor bought the truck from the university and owned it until I purchased it from him three years ago.  It sat in his barn for a number of years.  The truck originally had a six cylinder but it has been replaced by a newly rebuilt 1993 Chevrolet 5.7 liter 350 V-8 with Edelbrock 650 cfm carb and K&N air filter charger.  New platinum spark plugs and wires.  The transmission is a 700r4 automatic.  The rear end is brand new with 3:08 gears.  I have nearly everything to finish this truck including a Retro Stereo that connects to iPhone (that fits the existing holes and is digital), all new speakers, new trim, relocated gas tank to the underneath the bed, all new oak bed wood that has already been stained in golden pecan and varnished with marine grade polyurethane with UV protectant and polished stainless steel strips and bolts to hold the bed wood properly in place, brand new Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires and Pacer wheels with 0 miles on them, brand new chrome alternator and water pump, new Edelbrock intake and valve covers, upgraded electronic ignition, new in the box aluminum radiator, polished stainless steel tailgate chains with covers, the interior is all complete and lined with Dynamat, all new chrome door handles and trim, new rubber door and windshield gaskets, ashtray comes with the truck even though it is not installed in the photos, new stainless steel rocker panel covers with bow tie, new seatbelts, new ignition (doors and ignition are all new and keyed the same), all new lens covers for turn signals and tail lights, new pedals, new chrome mirrors, new sun shade visors, new windshield wipers and arms, too many parts and extras to list.  The only things I don't have to complete the restoration are exhaust, radiator brackets, headlights, and the drive shaft needs to be cut down to fit the new transmission but it is present.  This really is a great truck that looks fantastic.  It should run like new once all hooked up.  The reserve is set at less than half of what I have in the truck.  Feel free to email me with any questions.  You will not be disappointed with the condition of this truck.  There are two blemishes in the paint, which are in the pictures.  One on the rear bumper and the other between the cab and the bed on the driver's side.  They are both very small.  All of the work was professionally done by a retired owner of a restoration shop in California.  I visited often while he had the entire truck in pieces and hand sanded each piece before resembling and painting after painting the frame black.  You will not find another truck in this shape.  Deposit of $1,000 due within 24 hours through PayPal.  Balance due within 7 days of close of auction.  You must arrange for transport from Salem, MO to your location.

Chevrolet Captiva looks mildly refreshed and ready for family duty

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

We showed you Chevrolet's major debut yesterday, the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible, but General Motors is making a big push for Bowtie consideration in Europe, so it's also introducing the updated Captiva crossover here at the Geneva Motor Show.
While still based on the same platform as North America's fleet-only Captiva Sport (which is effectively a rebadged Saturn Vue), the Captiva is available in both five- and seven-seat iterations, and it looks far more modern. That's particularly the case with this updated model, which features revamped front- and rear ends that include restyled bumpers, grilles and LED taillamps, among other changes.
As before, the midsize Theta-platform CUV will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and is expected to carry a range of four- and six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Important US programming note: Chevrolet sources tell us that America's Captiva Sport will not receive these updates.

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. NHTSA closes 4-year GM investigation, issues common sense advisory [w/video]

Thu, Apr 9 2015

Since January 2011, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating a possible problem with corroding brake lines in General Motors' GMT800-platform models, like the Chevrolet Silverado and Suburban and GMC Sierra, in states with salt on their roads in the winter. However, as opposed to launching a full recall of millions of vehicles, the government is issuing a common-sense safety advisory to all drivers in snowy states to keep their vehicle's undercarriage clean. It even has a video explaining things. "Older-model vehicles, often driven in harsh conditions, are subject to corrosion over long periods of time, and we need owners to be vigilant about ensuring they, their passengers, and others on the roads are safe," said NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind in the announcement of the end of the investigation. The agency was clear in its report that "brake line corrosion seen in the GM vehicles was not unique," and the government "has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order." Instead NHTSA is advising drivers, especially those of vehicles from before 2007, to wash their vehicle's undercarriage in the winter and spring to remove salt or other de-icing chemicals. It also recommends regular checks by a mechanic to make sure everything is in proper order. According to the investigation documents, for just the GMT800 platform models, NHTSA found 3,645 complaints of brake line corrosion, which included allegations of 107 crashes and 40 injuries. The issue was found to be more common in vehicles over 10 years old. GM has released a statement (embedded below) that the company "supports the consumer advisory from NHTSA urging regular maintenance and care of brake lines on older vehicles." NHTSA Closes Investigation into Brake-Line Failures NHTSA 13-15 Thursday, April 9, 2015 Agency issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion WASHINGTON – The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) today issued a Safety Advisory and consumer video encouraging owners of model year 2007 and older trucks, SUVs and passenger cars to inspect brake lines and thoroughly wash the underside of their vehicles to remove corrosive salt after the long winter in order to prevent brake-line failures that increase the risk of a crash.
