Let's start inside the cab. Most everything you see is custom made specifically for this pickup. Champagne leather bucket seats, custom headliner and custom door panels are tasteful and elegant with clean lines. Factory vents and dash details have been removed and replaced with smooth metal panels. Placement of the AutoMeter gauges and custom ventilation are great examples of what happens when innovation meets precision and quality engineering. The power steering is directed through a color matched billet and leather steering wheel from Billet Specialties. The unique Champagne satin finish on all metal surfaces completes the theme of refined but quiet attention to detail. A Lokar shifter controls the automatic transmission and is housed in a finely crafted shifter console. Complete with electric windows, tilt steering, vintage air and Kenwood audio, the thrill of sitting in the driver's seat is tough to describe. And for those of you who just can't get enough shine, don't worry...tasteful brushed billet is everywhere!

The exterior of this truck is a sight to see. The custom mix Champagne Pearl over Blue Pearl base/clear finish is of the highest show quality. From the shaved driprails to the welded bed seams and smooth tailgate, attention to detail and precision is everywhere. Every contour of this truck has been painstakingly smoothed and re-radiused to match every other piece, making this restoration not only dramatic but truly eye-catching. The custom stainless trapezoid exhaust outlet was created just for this truck. The aggressive stance is enhanced with staggered 20 and 22 inch Billet Specialties Legacy wheels with a beautiful polished finish enhanced with custom powder-coated inserts. Even the novice will immediately recognize greatness.

Ladies and gentlemen, now it's time for the main event. Let's look under the hood... Here you'll find a precision tuned 454 Chevy V8 complete with a SCAT crank and Comp cam. From its custom air cleaner to its valve covers, this truck screams custom and precision. Just to give it that extra little something, this restomod sports a Morgan performance custom stainless exhaust complete with Magna flow mufflers. So, yeah...don't worry. Everyone will hear you coming long before they see you...just the way we like it here at Art & Speed.

We are truly excited to offer this stunning truck as part of our Art & Speed collection. This restomod checks all the boxes. A rotisserie restoration of the highest possible standard? Check. GM might outsource vans to AM General

Thu, Nov 26 2015

General Motors will possibly boost production of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon at the Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri by contracting out some commercial van manufacturing to AM General. Demand for the two midsize trucks continues to boom, and GM would like to take advantage of the strong market for them. The possible deal came to light in a letter to workers at the factory, according to Automotive News. "This potential partnership would free up production capacity and allow the organization to capitalize on our ability to build midsize trucks to further satisfy customer demand," a portion of the document allegedly said. AM General would reportedly only take over assembly of the cutaway versions of the Chevy Express and GMC Savana. Customers and critics have quickly embraced the latest Colorado and Canyon since their introduction. The Chevy just won back-to-back Motor Trend Truck of the Year awards. GM also had to add a third shift and extra workers in 2014 just to keep up with demand. The Wentzville plant even increased employment on the weekends earlier in 2015 to assemble an extra 2,000 of the trucks each month. While the two pickups boom, deliveries for the Chevy Express and GMC Savana are down 26.9 percent and 26.6 percent respectively through the first 10 months of the year. GM doesn't break out numbers for the cutaway versions, but they make up about a third of production, according to Automotive News. AM General built the Humvee for the US military and does some contract work with automakers. For example, the company's Indiana factory now produces the Mercedes-Benz R-Class for export to China. Here's hoping this potential deal will help both GM and AM General keep their factories humming. Related Video:

Is this '47 Chevrolet a rat rod or a sports car?

Sun, May 22 2016

These days there are plenty of vehicles that blur the conventional automotive class structures. For instance, was the Honda Crosstour a wagon or an SUV? And what exactly was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet? Regardless, those line-blurring cars (or trucks) are out there, and though this one didn't roll off a production line, it's still quite the automotive head-scratcher. Hailing from Missouri, this epic creation is one part mad science experiment, one part 1947 Chevrolet pickup, and one part '95 Mercury Cougar. Add it all up and you get an awesome truck-sports-car hybrid, complete with an outrageous wing and a V8 to boot. And interestingly enough, it's up for sale . RELATED: Check out this Wild-Styled Lamborghini Rat Rod So how does it all come together? According to the listing, the Chevrolet truck cab (which had previously been chopped) was sanded down to bare metal and given a thorough shellacking of clear coat. It was then melded together with the front end of a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, and set low to the ground on Bilstein suspension drop spindles. Stance achieved. But instead of fielding an engine from either of those pickups, it pulls its heart from a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV—a big 5.3-liter V8 heart, that is. It comes backed-up to a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Towards the rear however is where things get really interesting. A Copper Pearl coated tube frame chassis both attaches the rear independent suspension (a la Mercury Cougar) to the racy spoiler, as well as secures the rat rod's rear-mounted radiator, fan, and fuel tank. I'm not quite sure why, but it just looks glorious. RELATED: Reports Say Mid-Engine Corvette Will Arrive in 2018 Inside the vintage cab, the Chevrolet furthers its racing proclivities (it's said to have won burnout and auto-cross events) with a pair of harnessed racing seats, a drift brake, a detachable steering wheel, and a tachometer with oil and temperature gauges, but oddly no speedometer. The shifter is a crescent wrench. And its shift boot? That's a Crown Royal Purple bag. All in all, this grin-worthy Frankenstein creation tallies up bits and pieces from four different vehicles (five if you include the Camaro wheels), which make it truly a mash-up of epic proportions. Internet, what do you think? Related Video: This article by Zach Doell originally appeared on Boldride. Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.
