SELLER REMARKS |

This 1972 Chevy C10 pickup is a great example of how you can mix and match factory parts and create something unique with an OEM look. Add one smart-running small block V8, a tastefully appointed interior, and a wicked stance, and you have an awesome muscle truck that attracts just as much attention as a Camaro or Firebird might.
The biggest upgrade, aside from the bright red paint, is the 1997 Chevy stepside box out back, which looks so right, it may as well have been designed for the '72. Proportions are exactly right, and even the rocker moldings line up closely. Other upgrades include bumpers that are faired into the bodywork, shaved trim, and a color-matched grille up front. With all the new parts installed and the remaining body parts straightened and sanded flat, the brilliant red paint went on and was polished to a high shine after it was dry. There's a roll pan out back for a clean look, a flush-mounted tonneau cover for the bed, custom taillight covers, and sport mirrors that add practicality without being distracting. That's the virtue of using OEM parts because it looks like it was built that way back in 1972.
Big upgrades inside push it even farther towards the muscle car side of the equation. The factory bench wears a new cloth and vinyl seat cover, and not only is it stylish, it's also incredibly comfortable with enough adjustability for anyone to get comfortable behind the fat, small-diameter Colorado Custom aluminum steering wheel. The door panels and carpets are factory-style, and the original dash is full of original gauges is surrounded by a chrome-plated panel that adds some sparkle. Billet aluminum window cranks and door handles add a performance look, and new rubber floor mats protect the new carpets. You'll also notice that the bed sports a rubber bedliner and there's an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the dash. This truck definitely gets the basics right. You may notice a few other tricks, including the red seat belts that are either a remnant from this truck's earlier life or a cool design touch added by the builder to match the bodywork. A tilt column and tinted windows enhance comfort, because this truck was built to cruise.
Big power comes from America's favorite engine: a 350 cubic inch Chevy V8. Painted Chevy Orange with traditional chrome valve covers, it looks powerful when you pop the hood, and clean inner fenders suggest that this truck has never been rusty. Upgrades include an Edelbrock carb atop a matching intake and a Flowmaster exhaust system that sounds amazing. Power steering and power disc brakes maximize drivability, and the lowered suspension is surprisingly compliant. The original chassis shows no critical issues, and I'm fairly certain the undercoating under there is original, so you know this truck has led a pretty good life. A TH350 3-speed automatic and a 12-bolt rear end complete the driveline, further enhancing the muscle truck image. Chrome KMC alloys wear giant 285/35/22 low-profile radials that give it an aggressive look.
If the Camaro were a pickup truck, this is exactly what it would look like. Beautifully built and lots of fun to drive, this truck gets everything right. Call today!

UPDATE: A previous version of this story indicated that Orion Assembly would be idled for seven weeks, from February 16 through April 6. This was incorrect. The factory will instead only be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6. The story has been edited to reflect this. General Motors has announced that the factory responsible for the Buick Verano and Chevrolet Sonic will be idled for the weeks of February 16 and April 6, with blame being placed on excess supply. The Orion Assembly plant, about 45 minutes north of GM's Renaissance Center headquarters, employs about 1,800 people, but they'll be given a pair of furloughs as inventories of the sub-compact Sonic and premium compact Verano reach 127 days and 84 days, respectively. That works out to 26,600 Chevys and 9,800 Buicks waiting for buyers. According to Automotive News, the compact Chevy sales bested the industry average in 2014, jumping up nine percent versus the the overall segment's eight-percent gain, while the Buick sedan's sales were down four percent. When asked about the shutdown, a GM spokesman told AN that it will "build to market demand," while also pointing out that the company did not comment on production plans. In the 47-year-history of the Chevrolet Camaro, there have been countless college-age kids spending a ton of time getting under the hood and souping 'em up. Now, General Motors is adding a twist to the concept by donating 16 Camaros for the EcoCar challenge that puts university teams together to wring out better fuel-efficiency out of various vehicles. No word on whether there will be donuts on anyone's lawn, as suggested by 80's punks the Dead Milkmen, but the idea's never a bad one. EcoCar3 will feature 16 teams such as Arizona State, Penn State, Ontario's University of Waterloo and, of course, Detroit's Wayne State University. They'll spend the next four years "[reducing] environmental impact, while maintaining the muscle and performance expected from this iconic American car," as the EcoCar organizers say. The goal is to maintain body design and safety standards while boosting efficiency and lowering emissions, but the actual process is far more complicated than that description suggests. The California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Bosch are among the sponsors of the contest, which is also put on by the US Department of Energy and managed by Argonne National Laboratory. Penn State won Year Two of the three-year EcoCar 2 competition with its E85 plug-in hybrid electric vehicle converted out of a Chevy Malibu. The grand-prize winner of EcoCar2 will be announced in June. Check out the EcoCar3 website and see the announcement video below for more details. This content is hosted by a third party. Some people get an inordinate amount of attention. In politics, it's Donald Trump. In football, it's Jim Harbaugh. And in the auto world, it's Elon Musk and his always-fascinating electric car company, Tesla Motors. General Motors is spending $877 million to upgrade a factory. So what! US auto sales are up. Who cares? Tesla has a metal snake that will recharge your car! So was the week in Tesla – er, the industry. Snarkiness aside, Tesla did dominate the news cycle, led by the announcement the company lost $184 million in the second quarter. Tesla also said it expects to deliver between 50,000 and 55,000 vehicles this year, and is preparing for a full launch of the Model X crossover in September. Musk also made news during the earnings call by simply not answering a question about ride sharing, leading to speculation Tesla could be considering its own operation. While the financials were the arguably the most important company news, reports of a Model S cyber hacking were more compelling fodder for Tesla followers. Researchers were able to attack the sedan and bring it to a stop, though they required access to the car first. Tesla says it already has deployed a remedy for the situation. On a lighter note, Tesla published a video of its metal charger prototype that autonomously uncoils like a snake to power up the company's vehicles, provoking plenty of humorous comments and comparisons. Watch it and decide for yourself. While some of this might seem trivial, much of Tesla's recent attention has been warranted. It's the first startup US automaker in decades to launch from nothing and actually gain traction in the market. Sure, Musk is a lightning rod and Tesla always seems to be in the spotlight. But amid all of the publicity, it easy to lose sight of the new reality: Tesla is a force. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Chevy Volt lights up 106 MPGe The Chevy Volt's vitals are looking healthier for 2016. The second-generation plug-in hybrid racks up a gaudy 106 miles per gallon equivalent, which is an increase of eight MPGe from the 2015 model. The new Volt can travel 53 miles on electricity, a significant jump from the 2015 Volt's 38-mile range. The new car also has a 420-mile total range when factoring in the capability of the gasoline engine, which is 40 miles greater than the current car offers.
