1972 Chevy C10 Cheyenne Super LWB: First offered in 1960, Chevrolet introduced a new body style to truck fans which was more light weight and featured an independent front suspension that gave it a car-like feel.  A new, more modern look came in 1967, along with a new nickname: "Action Line". It was with this revision of the C/K truck that General Motors began to add comfort and convenience items to a vehicle line that had previously been  for work purposes alone. The majority of 10 and 20 series Chevrolet trucks from 1967 to 1972 were built with a coil spring trailing arm rear suspension, which greatly improved the ride over traditional leaf springs. Several changes  an improvements occurred a few years later in 1971. First came another new grille design (the "egg crate") for Chevrolet trucks and black paint over portions of the GMC grille. Second, an additional trim package was introduced: the Cheyenne. On GMC models, this was  referred to as the Sierra. These packages consisted mostly of comfort features — nicer interiors, more padding and insulation, carpet, chrome trim, and upper and lower side molding and tailgate trim. Nineteen seventy-one was the first  year for AM/FM radios factory installed. Finally, the front brakes on all light-duty trucks were switched from drum brakes to disc brakes, resulting in much less brake fade under heavy use. The 1972 models were virtually identical to  1971 models, with the only change being the rear view mirror was glued to the windshield instead of being bolted to top of the cab.

Monaco Luxury has sold numerous C10s of this era over the last few years and needless to say, we know what to look for when we buy them. After all, there were thousands of these trucks built and many are still on the road today. What sets the good trucks apart from the herd and bestows them future collectability are their factory originality and of course the current condition. This C10 was purchased from a collector of Chevy trucks and the following information and pictures will help you decide if this is the right truck for your collection (we already know it is but you're the one cutting the check!). This top-of-the-line Cheyenne Super rolled off the assembly line looking almost identical to how it shows today and retains the same striking Ochre & White two-tone paint with a Saddle vinyl bench seat. It retains much of its factory characteristics including a strong working factory A/C which is a "must-have" option if you live in the South. Upgrades to the engine compartment, steering wheel, stereo system, and exhaust all greatly improve the overall driving experience of this C10. The odometer shows just under 76k miles and per the previous owner's statements and our own inspection, we believe the miles to be accurate. Additional features and options  include; 350 V8, Auto, RWD, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Factory A/C, Tilt Wheel, Tinted Windows, Grant GT Wheel, Alpine CDA-9886 Stereo, Focal 6" Door Speakers, Chrome Grill/Bumpers/Mirrors, Vent Windows, Bed Rails, Sliding Rear Window, Rubber Bed Mat, Rubber Floor Mats, Owners Manuals, Dual Exhaust, 15" Rally Wheels, and Thick BF Goodrich Radial T/A P275/60/R15 RWL Tires! We recommend you jump in this truck and take a road trip with nothing but thumbs-ups and  camera flashes to get in your way!! If there is any doubt about the upward direction these Chevy truck values are going, we ask you please note that all current collector guides already list this C10 at well over our asking price. GM's European Opel division may eventually go all-electric

Wed, Feb 15 2017

General Motors' Opel division in Europe may transform itself into an all-electric vehicle maker by 2030. Granted, a lot can happen between now and then, including a potential buyout by French automaker PSA Group. Regardless, Opel appears to view its electric future beyond the Ampera-e, which is the sister vehicle to the Chevrolet Bolt, and more like Tesla. Opel CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann indicated that focusing on electric drivetrains would be a superior strategy to expanding its EV technology while pushing forward with conventional drivetrains, says Automotive News Europe, citing comments Neumann made to German publication Manager Magazin. General Motors could make the decision to move towards an all-electric vehicle line for Opel as soon as May. Of course, that depends on whether Opel is bought out by PSA, the parent country to Peugeot and Citroen. PSA is in talks to buy General Motors' Opel and Vauxhall divisions, though government and labor representatives in Germany have expressed concerns over potential job losses from the proposed buyout, Reuters says. Regardless, GM has hinted at expanding its electric-vehicle line far beyond the Bolt, which has a 238-mile single-charge range and debuted late last year. Mary Barra, in an interview with CNET, said the Bolt's all-electric platform could be applied to a "huge range of vehicles," though wasn't specific about additional EV models. Opel first showed off its Ampera-e at the Paris Motor Show last fall. The name of the model raised some eyebrows because the Ampera badge had been previously used by Opel for the sister version of the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in. Either way, Opel is looking to take on Renault for electric-vehicle sales supremacy across the Pond. Related Video:

GM might outsource vans to AM General

Thu, Nov 26 2015

General Motors will possibly boost production of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon at the Wentzville Assembly Plant in Missouri by contracting out some commercial van manufacturing to AM General. Demand for the two midsize trucks continues to boom, and GM would like to take advantage of the strong market for them. The possible deal came to light in a letter to workers at the factory, according to Automotive News. "This potential partnership would free up production capacity and allow the organization to capitalize on our ability to build midsize trucks to further satisfy customer demand," a portion of the document allegedly said. AM General would reportedly only take over assembly of the cutaway versions of the Chevy Express and GMC Savana. Customers and critics have quickly embraced the latest Colorado and Canyon since their introduction. The Chevy just won back-to-back Motor Trend Truck of the Year awards. GM also had to add a third shift and extra workers in 2014 just to keep up with demand. The Wentzville plant even increased employment on the weekends earlier in 2015 to assemble an extra 2,000 of the trucks each month. While the two pickups boom, deliveries for the Chevy Express and GMC Savana are down 26.9 percent and 26.6 percent respectively through the first 10 months of the year. GM doesn't break out numbers for the cutaway versions, but they make up about a third of production, according to Automotive News. AM General built the Humvee for the US military and does some contract work with automakers. For example, the company's Indiana factory now produces the Mercedes-Benz R-Class for export to China. Here's hoping this potential deal will help both GM and AM General keep their factories humming. Related Video:

GM to squeeze out more production capacity for midsize trucks

Tue, May 26 2015

General Motors was predicting a strong showing for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon before they debuted, and demand among dealers for the midsize trucks even exceeded company's expectations. The positive situation has left GM with a problem, though: finding ways to increase capacity for the pickups at the Wentzville Assembly plant in Missiouri. With a third shift already running, GM has continued to look for ways to build just a few more of the trucks at the plant. The company has plans to hire as many as 1,000 more workers for the Saturday and Sunday shifts to construct an additional 2,000 pickups a month, according to unnamed insiders at the factory speaking to Automotive News. The little adjustments even extend to getting rid of an unpaid break to add 18 minute of assembly time over the course of a day, which equals about 3,500 more vehicles a year. All of this effort comes because the trucks are in such high demand. According to GM's figures, the company has delivered a combined 35,720 units of the Colorado and Canyon from January through April 2015, and the Chevy was the fastest-selling truck in the US for the previous three months. In May, it spent an average of just 12 days in showrooms before being snapped up. And even better for the company, 43 percent of these buyers came from other brands. According to Automotive News, the most popular trade-ins have included the Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, and Dodge Dakota. Related Video:
