Douglasville, Georgia, United States
TO START OUT THIS WAS A BUILD THAT WE HAVE BEEN WANTING TO DO FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS BUT COULDN'T FIND A TRUCK EXACTLY LIKE WE WANTED UNTIL WE FOUND THIS ONE (ORIGINAL PAINT AND NOT FULL OF RUST) WE STARTED WITH A TWO OWNER RUST FREE TRUCK THAT WAS OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER FOR 40 YEARS, IT CAME WITH THE PROTECT-O- PLATE, OWNERS MANUAL AND TONS OF PAPER WORK. THE TRUCK WAS TORN DOWN AND THE FRAME OFF RESTORATION WAS STARTED, FROM THE GET GO WE WANTED TO BUILD THE ULTIMATE YENKO PARTS TRUCK. A NEW STOCK 454 WAS DISGUISED TO LOOK LIKE A 427 AND THE TRANS WAS CHANGED TO A NEW TURBO 400, THE BUILD TURNED INTO A NO EXPENSE SPARED ONE OF A KIND BUILD WHERE THE ONLY ORIGINAL PARTS THAT WENT BACK WAS THE FRAME AND BODY. THE CHASSIS WAS TAKEN DOWN TO BARE METAL AND EVERYTHING WAS REPLACED, ALL SUSPENSION IS CPP, SPINDLES, SPRINGS, SHOCKS ETC. NEW COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM, BUSHINGS, LINES, ETC, ALL BOLTS ON THE FRAME ARE NEW GRADE 8. THE BOTTOM OF THE CAB AND BED WERE BLASTED AND PAINTED A SEMI GLOSS BLACK. EVERYTHING INSIDE THE CAB HAS BEEN PAINTED THE FACTORY BLUE, EVERYTHING ELSE INSIDE IS NEW, SEAT, DOOR PANELS, CARPET, HEADLINER, RUBBER, FELT, VENTS, DASH PAD, VISORS ETC ALONG WITH TILT WHEEL. . MOVING TO THE EXTERIOR AGAIN EVERY PIECE IS NEW, TRIM, MOLDING, LIGHTS, BUMPERS, WINDSHIELD, EMBLEMS, AND THE ORIGINAL GRILL SHELL HAS BEEN CHROMED, THE ONLY BODY PANELS THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED WERE THE ROCKERS. THE LIST GOES ON AND ON UNDER THE HOOD, ALL FACTORY AIR WAS REBUILT, ALONG WITH POWER STEERING AND ANYTHING THAT YOU SEE IS NEW AND WORKS, ALL BOLTS ARE EITHER STAINLESS OR CAD PLATED EVERYWHERE. AGAIN THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE BUILD THAT WAS BUILT WITH A PURPOSE FROM THE PAINT TO THE WHEELS AND ENGINE. AND RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT.
THE TRUCK WAS JUST FINISHED A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND HASN'T BEEN TO ANY SHOWS YET BUT IT WILL DEFINITELY BE WORTHY OF MAGAZINE COVERAGE WITH THE COOL PATINA AND YENKO LOOK. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL 678-300-3214 SOLD WITH A GEORGIA REGISTRATION AND BILL OF SALE. |

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine
Fri, 08 Mar 2013Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
Is this '47 Chevrolet a rat rod or a sports car?
Sun, May 22 2016These days there are plenty of vehicles that blur the conventional automotive class structures. For instance, was the Honda Crosstour a wagon or an SUV? And what exactly was the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet? Regardless, those line-blurring cars (or trucks) are out there, and though this one didn't roll off a production line, it's still quite the automotive head-scratcher. Hailing from Missouri, this epic creation is one part mad science experiment, one part 1947 Chevrolet pickup, and one part '95 Mercury Cougar. Add it all up and you get an awesome truck-sports-car hybrid, complete with an outrageous wing and a V8 to boot. And interestingly enough, it's up for sale . RELATED: Check out this Wild-Styled Lamborghini Rat Rod So how does it all come together? According to the listing, the Chevrolet truck cab (which had previously been chopped) was sanded down to bare metal and given a thorough shellacking of clear coat. It was then melded together with the front end of a 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck, and set low to the ground on Bilstein suspension drop spindles. Stance achieved. But instead of fielding an engine from either of those pickups, it pulls its heart from a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV—a big 5.3-liter V8 heart, that is. It comes backed-up to a GM Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Towards the rear however is where things get really interesting. A Copper Pearl coated tube frame chassis both attaches the rear independent suspension (a la Mercury Cougar) to the racy spoiler, as well as secures the rat rod's rear-mounted radiator, fan, and fuel tank. I'm not quite sure why, but it just looks glorious. RELATED: Reports Say Mid-Engine Corvette Will Arrive in 2018 Inside the vintage cab, the Chevrolet furthers its racing proclivities (it's said to have won burnout and auto-cross events) with a pair of harnessed racing seats, a drift brake, a detachable steering wheel, and a tachometer with oil and temperature gauges, but oddly no speedometer. The shifter is a crescent wrench. And its shift boot? That's a Crown Royal Purple bag. All in all, this grin-worthy Frankenstein creation tallies up bits and pieces from four different vehicles (five if you include the Camaro wheels), which make it truly a mash-up of epic proportions. Internet, what do you think? Related Video: This article by Zach Doell originally appeared on Boldride. Corvette Z06 and Viper TA square off at the strip
Wed, Jan 21 2015There are many long-standing grudge matches among automobiles: 911 vs GT-R, Mustang vs Camaro, Ferrari vs Lamborghini... but as far as high-end American metal goes, it doesn't get much more legendary than Viper vs 'Vette. So after Chevy released the new Corvette Z06, we knew it was only a matter of time before it would have to square off against the Viper TA. And what better place to pit these two parallel pillars of American performance than on the drag strip? Fortunately that's just what we have here. In one corner, the 2014 Dodge Viper TA, with its 8.4-liter V10 pumping out 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. In the other, the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the supercharger on its 6.2-liter V8 more than making up for the discrepancy in displacement and cylinder count to produce 650 hp and just as much torque. But numbers don't tell the whole story, so watch the video clip to see which reaches the end of the quarter-mile first.
