This unfinished 1968 Chevrolet C10 is amazing: the perfect stance, the perfect color, a powerful drivetrain, and a great price. This is one of the most desirable vehicles in the hottest segment of the old car hobby right now, you really need to put this slick pickup in your garage immediately. With just a glance you can see that the Sunset Pearl paint on this pickup is astounding. All paint and body work was completed by Auto Artistry of Russell, KS. The reflections are a mile deep in the beautifully buffed and polished surface. It certainly helps that the steel underneath is in good order, including completely refurbished bed, whose bulging fenders give the pickup a muscular, sporty look. Panel alignment is quite good throughout, suggesting a lot of extra hours spent getting everything to fit just right, something you don't often see in vehicles that are this affordable. It has been customized and shaved in many ways, so it has an subtle custom look, right down to the shaved factory marker lights and shiny chrome bumpers. Drop the brightly painted and smoothed tailgate ad you'll find fresh oak planks that glow with a honey-colored varnish, a wonderful complement to the Sunset Pearl bodywork. The subtly modified factory grille is in excellent shape, it looks aggressive without being obvious about it. It just looks right. Nothing too radical going on inside, just more expertly finished work to create a truck that's probably better than new. The factory bench has been replaced with triple tan leather covered bucket seats with door panels and a dashboard to match. Factory instruments are used for viewing oil pressure, temperature, and voltage, as well as a factory tachometer nestled into the center where it should be. This is not your garden-variety pickup truck. The factory stereo location has been retrofitted with controls for the vintage air conditioning unit. The stereo head unit in the dash was relocated to the where the original heater controls were. The install has a nice OEM look to it and sounds a lot better than the crackling original AM radio and once finished installing the A/C it would stay pleasant inside even on the hottest days. Thanks to a sellers mildly built motor, this truck runs and drives superbly. Topped by a 4-barrel carburetor and a third generation Z28 aluminum intake, the 350 cubic inch V8 starts easily and burbles away like a muscle car. The engine bay is quite neat and tidy, with good service access and lots of new equipment, including a modern alternator, new master cylinder, and a few dress-up components to make it look good. It's backed by a 4-speed automatic transmission built by Phoenix Transmissions of Weatherford, TX so it's a blast to drive and gets decent mileage, and you'll never get tired of the burly exhaust system's soundtrack. The suspension is a temporarily installed air ride, giving it a sporty rake, comfortable ride and just the right stance on those fat 255/35/20 radials and shiny Boss wheels. Beautifully finished with a sizeable investment in the hardware, this is a no short-cuts pickup that runs and drives just as well as it looks. GM to squeeze out more production capacity for midsize trucks
Tue, May 26 2015General Motors was predicting a strong showing for the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon before they debuted, and demand among dealers for the midsize trucks even exceeded company's expectations. The positive situation has left GM with a problem, though: finding ways to increase capacity for the pickups at the Wentzville Assembly plant in Missiouri. With a third shift already running, GM has continued to look for ways to build just a few more of the trucks at the plant. The company has plans to hire as many as 1,000 more workers for the Saturday and Sunday shifts to construct an additional 2,000 pickups a month, according to unnamed insiders at the factory speaking to Automotive News. The little adjustments even extend to getting rid of an unpaid break to add 18 minute of assembly time over the course of a day, which equals about 3,500 more vehicles a year. All of this effort comes because the trucks are in such high demand. According to GM's figures, the company has delivered a combined 35,720 units of the Colorado and Canyon from January through April 2015, and the Chevy was the fastest-selling truck in the US for the previous three months. In May, it spent an average of just 12 days in showrooms before being snapped up. And even better for the company, 43 percent of these buyers came from other brands. According to Automotive News, the most popular trade-ins have included the Ford F-150, Toyota Tacoma, and Dodge Dakota. Related Video:
Chevy Sonic shreds like a skateboard
Tue, 19 Mar 2013Despite the fact that the 2013 Chevy Sonic is a fun, plucky little thing - especially in ever-so-slightly hotter RS guise - it is not, in fact, a skateboard. But don't tell that to rapper Theophilus London.
In General Motors' latest spot for the Chevrolet compact, London needs to make a quick run to the store for some milk. And even though, once again, the Sonic is not a skateboard, it ollies, pops and gets air because, you know, it's just so much fun to throw around.
If this video looks familiar to you, it's because this is the full ad that we first got a preview of in Chevy's longer, full-line spot, where the brand's "Find New Roads" tagline was introduced. Scroll down to see this dedicated Sonic spot, along with the older ad, and remember, the Sonic is still - still - not a skateboard.
Editors' Picks August 2021 | Honda Civic, Mercedes S-Class and more
Thu, Sep 9 2021This month of Editors' Picks saw us award the honor to a couple of redesigned stalwarts like the Honda Civic and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Plus, a new crossover that splits the difference between the compact and subcompact class takes home the prize. On top of this, we'll introduce you to a new term: midcompact. We'll be using this to describe those in-between crossovers that are a tad too small to be considered compact, but too large to neatly fit into the subcompact class. For a few examples of these "midcompact" cars, we'll point you to the Ford Bronco Sport, Kia Seltos and VW Seltos. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in August that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Genesis G70 2022 Genesis G70 View 26 Photos Quick take: Genesis hits all the right buttons with its G70. It's attractive, fun to drive and can be had for a fair price. Enthusiasts should give it a shot before taking home one of its German competitors. Score: 8 What it competes with: Alfa Romeo Giulia, Lexus IS, Acura TLX, Infiniti Q50, Audi A4, BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Cadillac CT4, Volvo S60 Pros: Sharp handler, stunning exterior looks, strong engines Cons: Average interior, loses manual option, small backseat and trunk From the editors: News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "I was already a big fan of the Genesis G70. It has brilliant handling, and the twin-turbo V6 is a beast. It's even a bargain against the competition. And Genesis just made it look a lot better. I wish they'd done a bit more to update the interior, but it's still not a bad cabin. Besides, you won't think too much about it when you're hustling down a fun back road." Features Editor James Riswick — "Yes, it is small, but in a sport sedan segment where "sport" means increasingly less, the G70 still delivers (in part because of that smallness).
