1972 GMC Short Bed. I personally built this truck from scratch and could tell you every single detail about it. I used mostly all stainless steel hardware throughout the entire truck. The truck is in really great shape with no major rust issues. I had a tough time finding a driver’s side door so there was a little bit of rust repair done but that is it. It had new rockers put on it (professionally done) before I bought the cab but other than that it is all original from what I could tell. The cab mounts are solid and the heater vents and firewall is all intact with no signs of rust. The bed was all sandblasted and painted and is in amazingly great shape. The fenders, hood, and core support are all original and in great shape too.

The interior is mostly original or new. I installed a new dash pad, carpet, and rear view mirrors. The seat, seat belts, gauge cluster, and door panels are all original. I utilized the factory wiring harness while rewiring the main components of the wiring. I didn’t hack up the wiring or splice into it unnecessarily. I am very meticulous and made sure wires were run correctly. I also bypassed the GM starter solenoid and put a remote one on the inner fender so that a positive cable isn’t running alongside the engine and header.

The engine is an original 396 from a CST10 truck. It has been bored and stroked using a 454 crank making the cubic inches out to about 440. It has Wiseco forged pistons and a bracket master camshaft. I installed a MSD distributor with calibrated springs and weights for the engine and utilized a 6AL box. I kept the mechanical fuel pump that feeds the 750 Quick Fuel carburetor which works flawlessly. The transmission is a Hughes TH400 with a B&M Hole shot 2400 converter and JW performance bell housing. The rear end utilizes a flip kit to match the 2.5in drop spindles and 1in springs up front. It has a new Detroit Locker with 4.10 gears and Moser axles. I installed Caltrac bars which give the truck consistent 1.65 60 foot times with Hoosier DOT Slicks. I raced the truck last summer when it had a 383 and it ran 12.80’s consistently. This year I made one pass at the drag strip without really tuning the engine before the rain settled in and it ran a 12.56 shifting at 5000rpms. I’m positive it will run in the low twelves without much tweaking and maybe even trickling into the high elevens.

I painted the truck flat pale yellow to give it a faded beat up look. I then went around spraying some white primer here and there while leaving the hood and tail gate grey primer. I then had custom decals painted on it which was all free handed and really makes the truck look old school. There is a lot of detail put into the truck and it will not disappoint. It could easily be re-sprayed to look show quality. As I finish up Graduate School in the next semester, I plan on moving away and the truck will end up sitting for years. I really don’t need to sell the truck so it is priced fairly. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. I’m sure there are some things I left out.

GM recalls select Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Buick Verano models over airbag issue

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic models due to a defect in the driver's airbag system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag has a shorting bar which may contact two internal terminals. If that happens during a crash, the supplemental restraint may not deploy, increasing the risk of driver injury. The recall includes a total of 2,949 units.
GM will contact owners and replace the steering wheel airbag coil at no cost. At this point, it's unclear when the recall will begin, though owners may contact the automaker at 1-800-521-7300 for more information. You may also take a closer look at the full NHTSA notice below.

GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado diesels finally heading to dealers

Fri, Jan 1 2016

Customers who have been waiting to receive their diesel-powered Chevrolet Colorados and GMC Canyons should be relived to hear that GM will finally start to ship them out of the Wentzville Assembly Plant. "The highly anticipated 2016 GMC Canyon diesel has begun shipping to dealers," a company spokesperson confirmed to The Detroit News. The trucks originally had a fall launch date, but a final review forced a delay in deliveries. The 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel in the midsize trucks produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the company touts the engine's low emissions. The Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board even put the mill through extra scrutiny with a real world test in the wake of VW's diesel scandal, and the Duramax passed with no problems. At that time, a Chevy spokesperson told Autoblog that the models' launch was on track. The Duramax engine adds $3,730 to the price of a comparable V6 model, but they're the most fuel-efficient pickups on the market. The EPA estimates the twins at 31 miles per gallon highway, 22 mpg city, and 25 mpg combined in two-wheel drive form and 29/20/23 with four-wheel drive. Buyers likely can't wait to finally experience these pickups after reading a heap of positive reviews. The Colorado diesel recently earned Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award. We also came away impressed with it during our First Drive and liked the Canyon during our Quick Spin. Related Video:

Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers

Wed, Aug 14 2024

Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.
