NOTE : Pick up is Nampa Idaho .Oregon Border ...No longer Scottsdale AZ ..If you are looking at this ad then you already know that these C10 trucks are among the coolest trucks on the road. This is my 1972 Chevy C10 pick up. It is a Fleetside short wheel base truck, which is by far the most desirable of all the C10 range! This really is an amazing find and a great basis for a restoration or just a mild lowering for a quick attitude change.

From the seller:the truck is showing 87,000 miles currently and was disclosed to me as being the original milage. I have no reason to doubt this statement as the truck is very unmolested and original. This is an original Blue and white truck which is by far, the best looking color combo on these trucks. The paint is still very presentable and with a buffer, it shines up pretty well. I did a quick once over on the whole truck and it comes back very nicely. The truck does have some rust as is typical of these trucks. It has the usual rust in the rockers, door bottoms, and cab corners. It also has rust in the bed. The worst is on the drivers side where it has rusted through. It could be patched but a replacement side is so cheap, that you could go that route if you wanted. I left it since the paint is still strong and matches the patina of the rest of the truck, and honestly it never bothered me. Also the tailgate has a dent in it where it looks like something was dropped on it, as you can see in the photos.  . Everything underneath the truck is original and untouched!. Another great thing about this truck is it has all the factory trim still in place, both body and rocker trim giving it a much more deluxe look. All the trim is still there and in good shape.

For power this truck was born with a 350/350 combo motor and trans. It still has the original motor and trans( Matching Numbers) in it which is awesome! The motor runs strong and the trans goes through the gears like it is supposed to. I have not had any issues with the drivetrain in the truck. The truck starts up with just one pump of the gas pedal like it should. Just continue to change the oil regularly and service the other fluids and you should be good to go for many more miles. No strange noises, no stumbling, just good solid american V8 noise coming out of the original exhaust. This is what you would expect from a low mileage original truck. The brakes were recently serviced and work just as they should. This truck, being a 72 comes from the factory with disc front brakes. This particular truck does not have power brakes or power steering, but you never notice either being heavy. The tires are newer and have decent tread left on them, and the factory heater works as well and keeps the cab nice and warm. The shifter lever is hard to get into park and I will try to adjust it this week- I got it from the guy in Boise like that and have not adjusted it .

Inside the truck it is mostly original. The dash pad has been replaced with a new one and the steering wheel is new also. It looks very nice and clean inside with the new gauge bezel to clean up the dash. Seat cover does not have any splits or cuts in it. The door panels still have good color on them and both original arm rests are there too. The stock rubber floor mat is there but has some splits near the gas pedal. I chose to leave this as its original and fits the patina of the truck. Everything works on the dash, lights, heater, wipers, and all the gauges and warning lights. Overall the inside of this truck is very clean and great looking. All the glass on the truck is good too with no cracks or chips. Its well preserved.

In total this is a very cool truck that has been able to resist modifications throughout its life. Trucks like that are hard to find. Another great upside to this truck is that it comes with the original window sticker, owners manual along with the original owners info and the metal build tag as well as the dealership that sold the truck. Things like that solidify the history of this truck and make it so much more interesting. The glove box door build sticker is still there and in great shape showing all the options that this truck came with. The truck has a clean CA title in my name and is ready to go. This is a great candidate for a full restoration since everything is still original and born with the truck, or just use it as is as a daily driver or shop truck. Selling as is, where is without exception. Note- We moved from Arizona and now live in the Oregon area, theTruck is stored and to be picked up in Oregon/Nampa Idaho border area (ou choose), can assist with shipping..... Must be paid within 72 hours of auction end , selling at NO RESERVE...  Thanks for checking it out.  Note: Pick up is in Oregon/Idaho  Border (near Nampa Idaho) ...no longer AZ.

On Jan-30-13 at 08:15:03 PST, seller added the following information:

I have had numerous emails on the truck but the answers are not being posted for some reason so I will add to the listing most of the questions: Yes the floors can be patched and do not need full replace, yes the bedsides need the same work , yes the fenders are good except the lower rear and the doors are the same ,yes it runs and drives out good, no work need on engine or trans except normal maint, yes the seat and interior is good, yes I have contacts to a shipper that goes to the east and midwest and down to Texas area. We live near the Idaho/Oregon border and the truck will be picked up at 97914. Thank you and good luck.

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes

Wed, Feb 19 2014

There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.

Recharge Wrap-up: Indianapolis to switch 425 fleet vehicles to EVs, Chevy Corvette provides bat habitats

Tue, Nov 4 2014

Indianapolis will deploy 425 battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles as part of its municipal fleet by 2016. The fleet will include such cars as the Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Volt and Ford Fusion Energi. The city will also reduce its overall fleet by 100 vehicles. In all, the revised group - called the "Freedom Fleet" - will save $8.7 million and 2.2 million gallons of gasoline over 10 years. Read more at Hybrid Cars. EVs with longer range would make vehicle-to-home and vehicle-to-grid energy management systems more practical for the US. The idea of using EVs as energy storage for emergencies or times of high grid demand is currently being tested in Japan with Nissan's Leaf-to-Home system. The US is also interested in such capabilities, but the higher average energy use of American households would make larger batteries in EVs ideal for grid storage applications. Read more at Green Car Reports. LG Chem has broken ground on its EV battery plant in Nanjing, China. The factory, when constructed, will have a capacity of producing batteries for 100,000 cars per year according to the Korean company. The plant will supply batteries for Chinese automakers such as SAIC and Qoros. Construction is expected to be finished by the end of 2015 and LG Chem expects revenue of more than $933 million by 2020. Read more in the press release below. General Motors is using adhesive used in the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to create habitat for threatened bat species. Artificial bat caves could help alleviate white-nose fungus that leads to diminished bat populations. Leftover adhesive is used to create stalactites in the artificial caves, allowing them more structure to hang from. GM has also provided Volt battery covers to create nesting habitats for bats, which eat harmful insects and help pollinate plants. See the videos and read more in the press release below.
