1972 C 10 1/2 TON PICK UP TRUCK. 95% ORIGINAL PAINT. THE 72 IS THE BEST OF THE 67-72 BODY STYLE BECAUSE THIS 72 CAME FROM THE FACTORY WITH 5 LUG AXLES AND FRONT POWER DISC BRAKES. THIS TRUCK WAS ORIGINALLY A 6CYL. HOWEVER AT SOME POINT THE MOTOR WAS REPLACED WITH A SMALL BLOCK V8. I DO NOT KNOW THE CU.IN. THE V8 HAS AFTER MARKET HEADERS AND DUAL EXHAUST THAT EXITS MID TRUCK THROUGH GLASS PACK MUFFLERS. POWER IS DELIVERED TO THE REAR AXLE BY WHAT APPEARS TO BE THE ORIGINAL MANUAL 3 SPEED TRANSMISSION WITH THE SHIFTER LOCATED ON THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK RUNS DECENT AS HAS GOOD POWER EVEN THOUGH IT ONLY HAS A 2BBL CARB. I DROVE THE TRUCK ON A 25 MILE HIGHWAY TRIP TO THE HARDWARE STORE AND WAS PLEASED AND A LITTLE SUPRISED HOW WELL THE TRUCK DRIVES AND RIDES. I REALLY WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THIS TRUCK FOR MYSELF BUT REALIZE I DO NOT HAVE TIME OR MONEY TO RESTORE THE TRUCK LIKE IT DESERVES, I HOPE SOMEONE PURCHASES THIS TRUCK AND IS ABLE TO BUILD IT AND ENJOY IT EVEN IF I CAN'T. THE TRUCK HAS AWESOME PATINA AND WOULD LOOK REALLY COOL AS A RAT ROD TRUCK TOO,IF THAT IS YOUR THING. I LOOKED INTO LOWERING THE TRUCK AND WAS SUPRISED TO LEARN THIS MODEL CAME NEW WITH COIL SPRINGS ON ALL FOUR CORNERS AND CAN BE LOWERED 3'' IN FRONT AND 5'' IN THE REAR FOR 225.00 WITH LOWERING SPRINGS (SUPER CHEAP). THE FENDERS,HOOD, AND CAB ARE PRETTY NICE WITHOUT A LOT OF RUST. THE BED SIDES ARE REALLY SOLID. THE FLOOR OF THE CAB HAS BEEN PATCHED AND THE ROCKERS NEED REPLACED AND COME WITH THE TRUCK. THE DOORS COULD BE SAVED HOWEVER NEW ONES ARE ONLY 275.00. I WISH I COULD KEEP THIS TRUCK BUT I KNOW IT WILL JUST SIT AND COLLECT DUST SO I'M SELLING IT WITH NO RESERVE. IT WILL BE SOLD TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER AND TRANSPORTATION AND/OR SHIPPING WILL BE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE BUYER. THE TRUCK IS SOLD AS IS WITH NO WRITTEN OR IMPLIED WARRANTY. THANK YOU AND HAPPY BIDDING.       NO RESERVE     NO RESERVE      NO RESERVE.   I WILL BE PUTTING A "FOR SALE" SIGN IN THE TRUCK IN ORDER TO GET LOCAL BUYER INTREST.

GM isn't liable for punitive damages in ignition switch cases

Wed, Nov 20 2019

NEW YORK — A federal appeals court said General Motors is not liable for punitive damages over accidents that occurred after its 2009 bankruptcy and involved vehicles it produced earlier, including vehicles with faulty ignition switches. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said on Tuesday that the automaker did not agree to contractually assume liability for punitive damages as part of its federally-backed Chapter 11 reorganization. GM filed for bankruptcy in June 2009, and its best assets were transferred to a new Detroit-based company with the same name. The other assets and many liabilities stayed with "Old GM," which is also known as Motors Liquidation Co. Tuesday's 3-0 decision may help GM reduce its ultimate exposure in nationwide litigation over defective ignition switches in several Chevrolet, Pontiac and Saturn models. It is also a defeat for drivers involved in post-bankruptcy accidents, including those who collided with older GM vehicles driven by others, as well as their law firms. The ignition switch defect could cause engine stalls and keep airbags from deploying, and has been linked to 124 deaths. A lawyer for the drivers and their law firms did not immediately respond to requests for comment. GM had no comment. Circuit Judge Dennis Jacobs said GM's agreement to acquire assets "free and clear" of most liabilities excused it from punitive damages claims for Old GM's conduct. He also noted that the judge who oversaw the bankruptcy concluded that the new company could not be liable for claims that the "deeply insolvent" Old GM would never have paid. The decision upheld a May 2018 ruling by U.S. District Judge Jesse Furman in Manhattan, who oversees the ignition switch litigation. Drivers have sought a variety of damages in that litigation, including for declining resale values. GM has recalled more than 2.6 million vehicles since 2014 over ignition switch problems. It has also paid more than $2.6 billion in related penalties and settlements, including $900 million to settle a U.S. Department of Justice criminal case. The case is In re: Motors Liquidation Co, 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 18-1940. Government/Legal Chevrolet Pontiac Saturn Safety gm ignition switch

GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible is the track car for sun worshippers

Fri, 11 Apr 2014

Supercharged, 6.2-liter V8? Check. Seven-speed manual? Check. Obsession with weight? Check.
What did you expect when Chevrolet said it was bringing a new Corvette variant to the 2014 New York Auto Show? Maybe a sticker and trim package, like the C6 Corvette Grand Sport or a tie-in deal like the Black Widow car from Chicago? On the opposite end, maybe there was an even more hardcore Z06 waiting in the wings. Who knew?
