1972 Chevrolet Pickup 350 Chevy C10 on 2040-cars
Arlington, Texas, United States
1972 Chevy C10 long bed pickup with 350, automatic transmission, 3.73 12 bolt rear end, power steering and A/C cab (compressor is gone). The truck is currently my daily driver. The truck has spent its life here in Texas and was a true barn find. I have some of the original paper work dating back to September 1973, the truck was owned by the same family until I acquired it in 2010. There were no major floor or rocker panel rust issues when the truck was rescued from the barn. Since being pulled out of the barn the truck has received many improvements. Mechanical improvements include an Edelbrock intake and carb combo, one wire alternator, new gas tank, fuel sending unit, front rotors, rear drums and master cylinder. The truck was painted roughly 3 years ago in Zinc Yellow with a Pearl White roof, scallops on the hood are Pearl White with blue candy tips and green pinstriping. Custom glovebox art ties the truck's Texas Milk Barn history into the build of the truck. Body moldings have been shaved as well as the antenna and the seam in the roof to give the truck that smooth, sleek look. Chevy Rally Wheels have been added as well as the custom front bumper. The bumper is originally off an F100, with turn signals added in the bumper for that "72" look. Seat has been recovered and a Grant Wheel has been added in place of the original steering wheel. The dash pad has a few cracks, the door panels are missing the arm rest pads, there's no carpet and the glove box tray is missing. The front grille is painted to simulate a custom billet grille, but could use replacement (tabs are breaking - age related). There are a few areas that could still use some improvement. There's no bed floor, there's a minor oil leak and the rear differential seal is leaking slightly at the yolk. The dash lights don't light up when headlight switch is in the on position, when left turn signal is on gas gauge drops down until turn signal is off. Turn signal doesn't self cancel on left turns. Tires appear to be in good shape, but are old and it would probably be a good idea to replace them in the near future. As you can tell, I've described the truck with it's flaws as well as it's great points! If you like 72 Chevy pickups, this one will be a great truck with just a little bit of love from its new owner. It's as solid as a 42 year old truck could be! 2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.
Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.
Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car
Wed, 20 Feb 2013We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
