This is a very rare 1971 suburban with factory 4x4 350 v8 and automatic transmission. This thing is a BEAST!!!!! This burban has new interior, straight body, custom suspension, power steering and brakes and more!!!! Solid front axel and currently is sitting on 37X17" Mickey Thompson Baja Belted Tires. The Motor is very strong and has a very nice lope to it. I recently drove it from Waco to Austin texas which is a good 100 miles down IH35 at about 60-65 MPH. It fires right up and runs and drives great. Narrower tires would help the ride but They look to good to switch to me.  Has 3 doors and tailgate configuration. The Body is 99% rust free and the floors are SOLID all the way back including the original wood in the bed.It was recently inspected and all electronics work with the exception of the temp guage and the factory radio which is still in the truck. I removed the wipers for a cleaner look. The truck has locking hubs that lock with ease and is ready to climb anything. Most of you know that texas is pretty flat so I just use it as a weekend cruiser around town. I believe I am missing 1 window crank and 1 door handle but they are easy to find. I recently replaced the fuel line from the pump to the carb and replaced the filter as well. Has a new battery with new connectors on the cables. Every now and then the tranny does leak a little bit of fluid from the rear seal I believe but it hasnt been bad enough to concern me as the fluid level is fine and proper in color. This truly is one of a kind and demands attention everywhere it goes. I have my Texas dealers license as well so I will take care of all the transfer paperwork no matter where you live. The tax title and license fees will be included in the price of the vehicle. Finally PLEASE do not hesitate to ask ANY questions before bidding. Feel free to text or call 512-965-567five. I will be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability or send any additional pics you may want. Full payment is due within 5 Business days of the auctions end. HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!

Burt Reynolds' vehicles up for auction at Barrett-Jackson

Tue, Sep 25 2018

Burt Reynolds' influence on car culture cannot be overstated. Be it "Smokey and the Bandit" or "Cannonball Run," his films inspired a generation of car enthusiasts. He died a few weeks back from cardiac arrest at age 82. This weekend, four vehicles from Reynolds' personal collection — three Pontiacs and a Chevy — will go up for auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas. It seems Reynolds had plans to sell the cars before he passed. He even filmed a short teaser for the auction and planned to attend the event himself. Three of the cars are Pontiac Trans Ams. Two are re-creations of the cars he drove in "Bandit" and the film "Hooper." Both are 1978 models. The third Trans Am is from 1984 and was used to promote Reynolds' USFL team, the Tampa Bay Bandits. The fourth vehicle is a 1978 Chevy R30 pickup truck. It's styled like the truck he drove in "Cannonball Run." None of the vehicles were actually used in the movies. But they were registered in his name, making them far more legitimate than some other movie-inspired clones. It's unclear how many Bandit Trans Ams Reynolds has owned over the years. Another car connected to him sold for $450,000 back in 2014. His death is sure to drive the price of these new cars even higher. Seeing the Detroit Auto Show via drone

Sun, Jan 18 2015

Seeing the Chevrolet display at the Detroit Auto Show is worth doing this year, and not just because of the new Corvette Z06, Volt and Bolt concept. In order to attract the new kids, The Bowtie has gone what the old kids used to call "buck wild" with their show stand at Cobo Hall. A Corvette Z06, Trax, and Colorado are parked along a central aisle, called Mainstreet, at the end of which is a 20-foot-tall, 73-foot long transparent screen lording over the new Volt. Elsewhere are five more 20-foot-tall screens broadcasting nine stories today's Chevrolet wants to tell about its vehicles, from performance to belief in the power of play to its 4G LTE-equipped OnStar telematics service. Then there are the social media and virtual reality safety installations, the community presentations and more. Chevrolet flew a drone through the stand to show off what it's doing, which is has replaced eye-level video as the next best thing to being there. You can check it out in the video above.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.
