This is a 1971 Chevrolet Cheyenne C 10 1/2 ton longbed pickup. It is probably as rustfree and original as you will find out there. It was owned forever by an elderly fellow down in Tucson,Arizona. It has been off the road and in storage for the last number of  years. The last Arizona registration in the truck was 2007. So it will need a tune up, fluids, belts ,filters, hoses changed. The stock 350 engine sounds pretty good, did not see smoke and should be good to go after freshening it up.. It will also need the brakes brought back as there are none, or very little right now. Which I found out yesterday. I put some fresh gas in it, put a good battery in and turned the key. Started right up. I drove it in my lot. Put the brakes on and nothing. Pumped them a  couple times and it stopped. So this is no highway machine right now. But it will take little to get it going down the roads again. This is one of those trucks you can drive as is, fix it up as you go. It will need new seat cover, carpet, arm rests , steering wheel cover and such on the interior. The door panels and the headliner are in pretty nice shape. The exhaust is a little loud so it will need some repair there. Tires are probably due.Not too mention brakes. But it really does not need too much. While the paint is original, it can probably be cleaned up enough to go as is. You only have original paint once.  The body is a beauty. Really no rust. Excellent, rockers, floor, cab corners. There is a small hole on top of the driver's  front sill near the gasket where they all rust. The wood in the bed is original and needs work. There is a heavy rubber mat on it. Which may help protecting the wood, but it also traps any moisture under it and rots the wood. There are some bad spots and missing pieces on the front part of the bed. Some of the side molding is off but it is in the bed..This truck came from the factory with quite a few options. Rear sliding window,HD springs, gauge package, tinted glass,AC,PS,Delco AM push button radio,Custom Sport truck, 350, HydraMatic AT.There is some kind of antique brake controller below the steering wheel. It belongs in the Smithsonian. The original owners manual in the plastic is still in the glovebox. There is a rear trailer hitch set up so pulling a small trailer would be no problem. This would be a great weekend, go to the dump, go to The Home Depot, haul the kids to the games,go around town in style truck. Or make a great shop truck.Hard to beat these old Chevys for ease of maintenance, parts supply and all around great value. Especially one as rustfree, solid and original as this one. This is no showroom truck, or even close. Just a straight honest original well maintained old Chev with plenty of life left. Truck has a straight clean Arizona title and is ready to go. Full payment must be received within 7 days of auction end. Pick up here in Presott,Arizona is encouraged. The truck will start up and drive well enough onto a car hauler so that it would not be a non op and charged as such by the transport guys. Storage till pick up is no problem. And I can help arrange overseas transport no problem.

GM sweetens military discount for Buick, Chevy and GMC

Sun, 06 Oct 2013

American servicemen and women interested in a new vehicle from Chevrolet, Buick or GMC now have a bit more incentive to head down to their local dealer, as General Motors has announced plans to improve its military discount program.
The new GM Military Discount Program offers eligible consumers a new Chevy, Buick or GMC at invoice pricing, which in some cases can take very large chunks out of a car's retail price. When factored in with other incentives, most of which are available with the Military Discount, the bargains are thick on the ground for members of the US armed forces.
GM's Retail Sales and Marketing Support general manager, Chuck Thomson, said, "GM has long supported the military and military families, and we hope this simplified and enhanced discount will show our appreciation for their service and help make it easier for them to own one of our great new vehicles." The program is open to all active duty and reserve members in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, National Guard and Coast Guard, as well as veterans that have been out of the service for less than a year. Military retirees and their spouses are also eligible for the discount.

Looking back at the Citation IV concept that likely shaped the GM EV1

Wed, Aug 20 2014

Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it. We're not sure how that applies to the GM EV1, but we'd still like to share something from Autoline Daily, an online automotive new show with our friend John McElroy. He's been covering the business for decades now and recently found something interesting: pictures of the 1984 Chevrolet Citation IV concept, seen above. Displayed half a decade before the first electric concept that would become the EV1 (inset), McElroy says it's now clear that the elegant, aerodynamic EV1 took a lot of styling cues from the Citation IV, which was developed in part thanks to GM's new-at-the-time Aerodynamics Laboratory. We agree with him that the spats over the rear wheels, the flush glass, and the covered headlights all bear a certain kind of similarity between the two cars. That the colors almost match is a nice coincidence. The Impact (the concept version of the EV1) looked "frumpier," McElroy says, because it wasn't as long as the Citation. You can read a lot more about the Citation IV here and check out McElroy's thoughts in the video below. Find the Citation starting at around 3:45. This content is hosted by a third party. Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
