Up for auction - 1971 Chevrolet C10 Custom Deluxe2wd Pickup. Original North Carolina SURVIVOR!!! 60,446 original miles, original 2 tone paint, original engine, transmission and interior. This truck is just plain cool! The truck was purchased back in 1971 in North Carolina. It has been in the same family since purchased new. Passed down a couple of generations, the recent owners brought it up to Michigan 2 years ago where it sat in a garage until I purchased it recently. So this truck has lived most of its life in North Carolina. The North Carolina registration sticker is still on the driver’s side of the windshield. Everything works the AM radio, heat, all gauges, lights, and horn. The doors, rocker panels, floor, cab corners allare in great shape. There is a little surface rust in a few spots and some patina on the hood and tailgate but otherwise this truck is in terrific shape. The original 307 V8 runs incredible. We did a full tune up which included plugs, wires, cap rotor, and new points. She purrs like a kitten! The original transmission shift smooth, and powersteering works great. The truck does have manual front disk brakes that were an option. There is a sticker on the back tailgate that shows that was an option. The bed is in great shape and the tailgate it as well. Underneath looks real good, plus the spare tire is also intact. I believe that the truck may even have the original exhaust on it. Also, the original 1971 owner’s manual and the plastic pouch that it came in are here along with the original warranty card with the protecto place still attached! The tires are in fair condition, you can tell that they have been on the truck for awhile. Also, the previous owners told me that the original owner backed up into a trailer and caused some minor damage to the right rear quarter panel which was fixed but is starting to show signs of some cracking of the paint. Otherwise I was told that the truck was never in a serious accident. This C10 is as originalas they came. This would be a great base truck to restore or you could just keep it the way it is because it is cool! Please check out the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vxt5bquPFOE It is the responsibilityof the purchaser to arrange shipping and pick up of the vehicle. The truck issold AS IS with NO WARANTY. Deposit is to be made by Pay Pal with final paymentin cash or bank wire. If you wish to inspect the vehicle then it needs to bedone before the auction is completed. Ido have the vehicle listed locally and I reserve the right to cancel theauction if I find a buyer before the auction ends. If you have anyquestions please do not hesitate to send me a message. Happy Bidding!

Would you pay $17 a month to give your older Ford connectivity?
Fri, Mar 30 2018When it was first introduced in 2007, there was nothing like the original Ford Sync system, since it allowed car owners to connect and use a portable device better than anything that came before it. And because it was a brought-in/tethered and software-based system, Sync leveraged a device's connectivity and was easily updated. It took competitors awhile to catch up: Toyota Entune wasn't available until 2011, and Chevy MyLink didn't roll out until 2012. But now Ford is the one playing catchup since it stuck with the brought-in strategy while most other automakers were quicker to add connectivity via an embedded cellular modem. Ford initially installed 2G/3G modems in its small fleet of electric and plug-in electric vehicles starting in 2012 so that owners could keep tabs on charging. Embedded connectivity came to Lincoln in 2014, and Ford began adding onboard 4G LTE via Sync Connect to select cars starting with the Escape in 2015. To get more cars connected more quickly, last week the automaker rolled out its FordPass SmartLink solution that plugs into the OBD port of 2010 to 2017 model year vehicles. This lets owners retroactively get onboard Wi-Fi, set up a "geo-fence" to keep tabs on a car's location, receive vehicle health reports and allows remote engine starting and door locking/unlocking using a smartphone app, among other features. But to connect older Ford vehicles will cost owners $16.99 a month for two years, not including installation. Ford throws in 1 GB of data or a 30-day trial, whichever comes first, after which owners have to add the vehicle to their Verizon shared data plan, which supplies connectivity for SmartLink, or establish a new account. (Disclosure: Autoblog is owned by Verizon.) By comparison, GM's 4G LTE data plans start at $10 a month for 200 MB and goes up to $30 for 3 GB, and owners can also add a car to an AT&T shared-data plan. But OnStar doesn't have a separate monthly subscription for the embedded modem or an installation charge, and standard features via the RemoteLink Mobile App are free for the first five years of ownership. FCA's Uconnect Access service also uses an embedded modem to provide similar telematics features for $20 per month following a free one-year trial, while a la carte in-car Wi-Fi is offered for $10 per day, $20 per week or $35 per month.
GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
2018 Autoblog Technology of the Year finalists
Wed, Jan 10 2018After months of prepping and several days of testing, we narrowed the field for Autoblog's 2018 Tech of the Year award to the Nissan Rogue with ProPilot Assist semi-autonomous driving system, the Lexus LC 500h and its new hybrid powertrain, and the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and its trick Multimatic spool-valve off-road shocks. Three very different cars with very different technologies duking it out for the award. Look for news of our winner at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show. We hand out this award every year to the technology or feature that we feel moves the bar forward for the automotive industry. Read more here on how our testing process works. We discuss, debate and count up score sheets, judging each vehicle and technology on a few different criteria. Is its purpose noteworthy? Does it work well? Does it advance the industry? The Nissan Rogue with ProPilot Assist was actually a prototype, as the technology will first debut in the 2018 Nissan Leaf. Still, we're here to test the tech and not the car. ProPilot Assist combines adaptive cruise control system combined with lane-keeping assistance. The system uses sonar, radar and a number of cameras for some light semi-autonomous driving and enhanced safety. While these systems aren't new individually, Nissan's system is affordable, intuitive, and coming to a mainstream product — democratizing the tech in a novel way, if you will. That's why it's here. The Lexus LC 500h uses a new powertrain that Lexus has dubbed the Multi-Stage Hybrid System. Basically it combines two types of transmissions — a CVT and a four-speed automatic — in a single unit mated to a naturally aspirated V6. That's complex and unorthodox technology, and Lexus engineered it to give drivers the efficiency of a CVT without sacrificing driving enjoyment. The package is subtle, working in the background to create a nearly seamless driving experience. It's engaging in a way most other hybrids can only dream of. The fact that it's wrapped in such gorgeous sheetmetal only makes things better. The Multimatic spool valve shocks in the Chevy Colorado ZR2 might seem low-tech compared to ProPilot Assist and the Lexus Multi-Stage Hybrid, but they represent a completely novel application of a technology that several years ago was so expensive that it was reserved for top-tier race cars. Like the LC 500h, these shocks really change your perception of how a vehicle like this should drive.
